Chapter 8: The Sleeping Little Giant
21:15, 4 October 2018* * *
It's not monday again just yet, it's late sunday. Three days of practice matches really does a number on you. That's what everyone thought on the bus home, but at the same time they knew that with this week of hell was worth it. The bus ride was for about 2 hours and was longer or shorter depending on how close you lived from the direction the bus was driving. The clock was 09:10 pm and pretty much everyone had been dropped off. The only one's left was Kageyama, Nishinoya, Hinata and Tsukishima. Next stop was Hinata's house. Kageyama heard Hinata making quiet and soft sounds. He already knew that Hinata would fall asleep from the moment they went on the bus. Everyone has been playing hard in the games and as for the shining decoy jumping higher and running faster than anyone else (And the puking incident of course), Kageyama knew he was the first one out.
The bus slowed down at the familliar place known as Hinata's house. The house was unlighted. If Kageyama could recall, Hinata's family went on a trip together for the weekend with Natsu and wasn't coming home until tomorrow. The bus driver stopped and waited for the student to jump off. Kageyama looked at his side, Hinata had tilted his head against Kageyama's shoulder. He sighed and tried to wake him up. He began with calling his name, nicknames, whatever to get him to listen. When that didn't work he tried poking him but it went over to shaking him.
"Kageyama! I don't think he's ever gonna wake up!" Nishinoya turned around to see him shaking Hinata to death.
"Then what do you suggest we do?" Kageyama answered. The bus driver sounded impatient behind the wheel which made them a little stressed.
"Kageyama, how about you carry him?" Noya suggested as ordered. A weird feeling were creeping up when Kageyama heard what Nishinoya said. It felt embarrassing but at the same time nice. He obviously panicked at Nishinoya's words.
"W-what are you talking about!? No way I'm carrying him, you carry him!"
"Do I look like I can carry anyone!?" He stood up between the seats to prove his point.
"How about Tsukishima then?"
"He's asleep too." Kageyama and Noya looked at eachother both knowing the answer to their question. Tsukishima would probolay give them a monologue about how it's not his business to carry the shirmp or something like that.
Nishinoya hopped off the bus and behind him Kageyama got out with a sleeping Hinata on his back. He went ahead to open the door and turned on all the lights in the windows. While Noya did that Kageyama went upstairs to Hinata's bedroom and put him down on his bed. He was about to leave the room but he stopped feeling unfinished with the delivery. The tall boy rolled down the curtains, put his bags in front of the bed, turned on the lamp on the nightstand, put his phone on the table and folded out the bedsheet enough to cover his small body.
He then sat down on the bed watching the boy's peaceful beathing. Maybe I'm not a lost cause, he thought to himself. As Kageyama sat down in the darkness studying the spiker's face, the orange light appeared once again this time only paying a small visit. Since when did I become delusional? Kageyama kind of felt hypnotized like nothing around mattered than the orange dots in front of him. It flew around a little around Kageyama's hands and then it went over to shining bright over Hinata's head. He could tell that it clearly wanted to tell him something but he couldn't put his finger on what exactly. His body slowly started moving closer to the light. Now he could feel the small boy's breathing in his face, he closed his eyes leaning in further-
"Kageyama! The bus driver wants to go home now! We should too- oops, did I interrupt something?" Kageyama pulled away quickly, he was as chocked as Nishinoya was. Noya did a sign telling him it was time to leave and walked down towards the door. Kageyama took a glace over at Hinata again, he was still asleep thankfully and the strange dots were gone again.
What the hell?
