Chapter 48: Little By Little
20:50, 18 March 2017Naruto's POV
"I'm serious, Grandma Tsunade! The second Nue-chan's bandages came off, she had the Sharingan! Believe it!" I said as I explained to her what happened last night. "Are you sure you didn't eat too much ramen?" Tsunade asked.
"Oh, come on! Just go ask Nue-chan herself!" I yelled. "I have too much work on my hands. I'll talk to her later." Tsunade said. "Hmph. Fine." I said and left. I went down to the hospital to check up on Nue-chan.
"Hey, I'm looking for Nue-chan's room. Can you tell me where I can find her?" I asked the nurse. "Of course." She said with a smile. She told me Nue-chan's room number and I went there. I looked inside Nue-chan's window and saw her sitting up in her bed with a gun in her hand.
It looked like she was trying to put it together while being blind. Why is she doing that?
Nue's POV
I sat in my hospital bed, trying to put my gun together. Yes, I'm trying to build the gun while I'm blind. Hey, it beats than sitting around here doing nothing. I managed to get the bullets in and I just took the safety off.
"Hmm..." I hummed to myself, then raised the gun out in front of me while putting my finger on the trigger. "Hey, Nue-chan!" I heard Naruto say. Startled, I pulled the trigger on accident and heard Naruto yelp, making me gasp.
"Naruto, are you alright?!" I asked, panicked. "Jeez, Nue-chan! Are you trying to kill me or something?!" Naruto yelled. I gave a nervous laugh while scratching the back of my head.
"I'm sorry. I was only training."
"While being blind?"
"Uh-huh. Believe it."
Oh Jashin, I'm starting to sound like him. He laughed at the fact I said his slogan. "How are you holding up, by the way?" Naruto asked as I felt him sit on the bed. "A bit better, I guess." I answered with a shrug. "Well, that's good." He said.
"So, what's on the agenda for Squad 7?" I asked. "Well, Sakura, Sasuke, and I are going to the Land of Tea on our next mission." He explained. "The Land of Tea? You're so lucky. I've never been there." I sulked.
"Don't worry Nue-chan. The second you get your sight back, I'll take you there some time. I promise." Naruto said.
"Really?"
"Believe it!"
I smiled. "Hey, shouldn't you get ready?" I asked. "Gah, you're right! Catch ya later, Nue-chan!" Naruto said before I heard him leave. "You two have stricken quite a friendship." A calm voice said. "Is that you, Yin Yang?" I asked.
"Of course. But enough about me. What about you? Are your wounds healing up?" He asked. Last night, when Aiko choked me, she left bruises on my neck. A nurse noticed them this morning and wrapped bandages around them.
"Yes, they are." I said, answering Yin Yang's question, then yawned. "Tired, are we?" Yin Yang asked. "Yeah, a little. I didn't get much sleep last night." I answered. I yawned again and expected Yin Yang to say something else, but he didn't.
"Yin Yang?" I called out. There was no answer. I'm guessing he left. It's weird though. I wonder where he disappears off to? I laid my head down on the pillow, then fell asleep. About two hours later, I heard someone say, "Nue, are you okay?" I knew it was Tsunade.
I sat up while taking the blanket off me. "How did you sleep?" She asked as I heard her approach me. "It must be hard having amnesia and I know you must be struggling to remember. I'm sorry." Tsunade said.
I felt her hand reach for my face, so I turned my head away from her. I didn't want her touching me. For some reason, I didn't feel comfortable around Tsunade. She made me feel.... weird, that's all. "Naruto told me you were attacked last night." Tsunade mentioned.
"I was, but I'm fine now." I said. "He also told me you were able to activate the Sharingan. And yet, you're not an Uchiha, are you?" She asked, in which I shook my head. "So, how were you able activate it?" Tsunade questioned.
Are we playing a game of 20 questions or something? I know there's a security cord by the bed. You're suppose to pull it incase of an emergency. But in this case, I just want her out of here. I somewhat struggled to find it. I kept fiddling with the cord, trying to grab onto it until I felt a hand grab my wrist.
"Don't mess with that. You could get me in trouble." Tsunade said. She let go of my wrist and I let it fall to my side. "So, Nue, why don't you tell me? How were you able to activate the Sharingan." She asked. I shrugged my shoulders.
"I just got it. I don't know it happened." I said.
"Is it possible that you're part Uchiha?"
"I honestly doubt it."
"Was your mother or father part Uchiha? Maybe you got it from one of them?"
"I don't know."
"Do you think you got it from-"
"I said I don't know!"
I was getting really irritated by all the questions she was asking me. It's like I was being interrogated.
Tsunade's POV
Nue doesn't seem to remember me at the slightest. When I was still on team with Jiraiya and Orochimaru, we visited the Houjuu Clan when we got lost, but we never told the Third Hokage because the elder of the clan didn't want anyone to know about the clan.
When I first met her, she trained her hardest and didn't like humans. "Nue, what's the last thing you remember about the Houjuu Clan?" I asked her. "I don't know. I have amnesia, remember?" Nue said with a bit of sarcasm.
She seems to act like she did in the past. Does that mean she's remembering? "I'll leave you alone for a bit." I said. I went over to the door, then stopped. "Oh, and one more thing I fogot to mention. Kakashi's told me how you've been falling asleep during your missions. So, I'll be assigning you missions that are at night, okay? Once you get your sight back, of course." I informed.
"Yeah. I got it." Nue replied, and I left her room. "Lady Tsuande?" I looked over at Shizune who was by the door with Tonton in her arms.
"She's seems to be remembering little by little. But how long until she remembers who she truly is and what will she do when she does remember?" I asked, mostly to myself.
Nue's POV
I sighed to myself. "What's the point of asking me all these questions about my family and the Houjuu Clan when I don't remember a thing about them?" I asked with a frown. I took a small breath, then sat cross-legged on the bed.
I began to meditate to myself, hoping I could regain a few pieces of my memories. I meditated for a while until I heard someone open the door to my room. "Hey, Nue. It's Iri." Iri greeted as I heard her walking over to me.
"Hi, Iri." I greeted back. "I see you've got a handle on that flying ability of yours." She commented. "I think it's called levitation. To be honest, I didn't really know I was in the air until now." I admitted.
"Maybe we can work on it when you get your sight back." Iri offered. "You mean, if I get my sight back." I corrected her. "Oh, don't think that, Nue. I'm sure your sight's bound to come back soon." She said, trying to cheer me up.
"Thanks for trying to cheer me up, Iri. But I think I'm gonna some rest." I informed as I felt myself float back onto the bed.
"Okay, I'll come back and check on you tonight, okay?" Iri said. I age a small nod with a smile and she kissed my forehead. "Get some rest, imouto." She said, softly before leaving. I lied down on my pillow.
"How much longer am I going to be blind? Aiko's jutsu can't be permanent, can it?" I murmured to myself before drifting to sleep.
Iri's POV
Later that day, I went back to Nue to go check on her, just like I said I would. I went to Nue's room and saw her lying on her side. I could only assume she was thinking to herself. "Hey, Nue. It's me again. I came back, just like I said I would." I said, approaching her bed.
"Nue?" I placed my hand on her shoulder and lightly shook her. "She's asleep." I realized. I smiled down at my little sister, then kissed her forehead. "Sweet dreams, Nue." I said, then left her room. I headed back to the house to get some rest myself.
Nue's POV
I continued to sleep peacefully until I felt someone's chakra presence. It wasn't the nurse, or Tsunade, or Iri. This presence felt different. So different, I can't even recognize it. Who's here? I pretended I was asleep as I heard their footsteps approaching me.
Trying to stay calm, I bit my lip as they stopped by the bed. They didn't move for a moment until I felt them place their hand over my bandaged eyes, almost making me flinch. Their hand stayed over my eyes for a minute, then removed it.
I stayed where I was until I knew their presence was gone. I sat up a little. 'What the hell was that about?' I thought. Why did they put their hand over my eyes? Did they do something? I took the bandage off my eyes and slowly opened them.
I expected to see nothing but darkness, but to my surprise, I saw colors. And by colors, I mean I could see! Holy cow! I looked towards the window and saw that it was dark outside. "I can see... I can see!" I cheered, throwing the blanket off of me.
I ran over to the mirror and saw my reflection staring back at me. "I can see!" I cheered again. "Whoa!" I said in surprise as I began to float in the air. I guess I start to float when I'm happy. I did a practice flying test, flying around the room just to make sure I had control of the whole flying thing.
"This is awesome! Almost too good to be true!" I said, happily. This calls for a celebration! I flew out the window of the hospital room and flew around the village! "Woo-hoo!" I called out as I flew up towards the sky, near the full moon.
I fell towards the ground, but picked myself up just time, flying over houses. I don't know who helped me, but thank you, stranger!
Man, I was so happy. Everything was back to normal, just as it should be. Or is it?
