Chapter 24: Nue's Dark Twin

Nue's POV (*Inside Nue's Head*)

It's dark. I looked around and see nothing but dark trees and dead flowers with a dark red sky. I see a girl on her hands and knees, her head inches from the ground. She seemed to be licking up something off the ground. "Hello?" I called out to her.

She didn't respond. She didn't even turn to look at me. "Are you all right? Do you need any help?" I asked. She continued to lick whatever off the ground, ignoring me. I walk towards her. "Hello?" I said, gently resting a hand on her shoulder.

She lifts her head up and slowly turns around to face me. I gasp in shock. The girl I was looking at... is me. There was blood all over her mouth as her eyes were glowing purple. I take a step back in fear. She stands up and stares at me.

I look behind her and see someone lying in a pool of blood. I get a better look at the person and gasp. It's Genshi! "Aren't you going to thank me? I just finished your job for you." The girl said. "What... What do you mean?" I asked, scared.

"I did what you couldn't," She said. "Well, I suppose you could've done it. But that brat-of-a-sister of ours stopped us." She explained as she looked back at Genshi's body. "No... I... I didn't want this." I said a soft voice. 

I take a few steps back and she's quickly in front of me. "Are you saying you didn't want to kill him?" She asked with a frown. "No... It was an accident. I didn't mean to-"

"Didn't mean to?!" She screams at me, causing me to fall on my behind. I jumped in fear when I saw her in front of me, making me gasp at her speed. "Admit it. You can't get anything accomplished without me." She said as she leans forward.

"You're wrong." I said, trying to sound confident. "AM I?!" She shouted. I flinched. "Poor Nue." She mocked as licked away a tear that had escaped my eye due to fear. "Do you really think they'll accept you? A girl with ugly looking things sticking out of her back?" She said.

I blinked and she's gone. I quickly sit on my knees and look around, trying to find her. "Becoming friends with people who will never understand what it's like to be born a monster. How pathetic." I hear her say from behind.

I turn my head to see her tracing her fingers across my blue tails. "But don't worry. I won't kill the friends we've made here. At least... not yet." She said before licking my neck. I shudder in fear as I quickly shut my eyes tightly. I can't move.

I feel her stand up. I opened my eyes when I felt her take my hand and pull me to my feet. "But sooner or later.... you're gonna have to let me take control, Nue." She smiles darkly as she rest her bloody hand on my cheek and licks the other.

"Wake up." She whispers in my ear. I shut my eyes tightly.

(*Outside Nue's Head*)

I shoot up from where I was laying, panting heavily as beads of sweat rolled down my forehead and the sides of my head. I calmed down and look around to see where I was at. The walls were white and I was lying on a white bed with a white blanket.

Where am I? "Kiyoshi?" I whispered. "It'sss okay kid. I'm right here." He hissed as he slithered onto my lap. "Where are we?" I asked him. "We're in the hosssspital." He answered. "The hospital? What are we doing here?" I asked, confused.

"You blacked out on the field after you defeated that rain ninja. Don't you remember?" He asked. "No... I don't." I replied. I looked up and saw a nurse walk through the door. "You're awake." She said, calmly.

"Nue-chan!" Naruto ran into the room along with the rest of Squad 7 and Kiba with three other people. "You look like you're doing well." Kakashi-sensei said. Kiba ran over to me and hugged me. "Are you all right?" He asked me.

I stared off into space, not answering his question. "It looks like you're doing all right. It didn't seem like you were breathing when we found you." A woman with black hair and red eyes said. I raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Who are you?" I asked.

"Let introduce you to my team. This is Hinata Hyuuga, Shino Aburame, and Kurenai-sensei." Kiba said. "It's nice to meet you all. My name is Nue Houjuu Satori." I greeted. "Miss? Can you recall anything before you blacked out?" The nurse asked.

I shook my head no. "It's all a blur. But I do remember fighting a rain ninja. Then, everything went black after that. Why?" I said. "Miss, when you were brought into the hospital, you were covered in blood." She nurse said "Blood?" I repeated, confused.

"Don't you remember? You sssstarted to grab your head in pain. You yelled, then you began to sssstab the ninja. Blood wasss ssssplattering everywhere. Doesss any of thissss ring a bell to you?" Kiyoshi hissed. I shook my head, no.

"How long have I been out?" I asked. "The doctor says you've been out for a few hours." Shino answered. "I hope you'll be on your feet soon. The exams are tomorrow." Kakashi-sensei said. "Already?" I asked, in which he nodded his head. 

'Then, was that all just a bad dream?' I thought, thinking about the other me. "But sooner or later... you're gonna have to let me take control, Nue." I shook my head, trying to forget about it. "Nue-chan?" I heard Naruto say.

I looked up and saw his blue eyes filled with worry. "Don't worry. I'm fine, I promise." I said, giving him a closed eye smile. I looked at the nurse. "Is it okay if I leave now?" I asked her. "Only if you're feeling better." She said. "I am. Arigato." I said to her.

"Very well." With that, she left the room.

When I got out of the hospital, Kiba offered to walk me home. "Thanks for walking with me, Kiba." I said, smiling. He gave me a grin. "No problem. Hey. Why is the Uchiha following us?" Kiba whispered. I looked back at Sasuke, then back at Kiba. 

"Well, he kind of lives close by." I whispered back. When we got to my apartment, I hugged Kiba. "Thanks again for walking me home." I said. He hugged me back. "No problem." He replied. He broke the hug and we smiled at each other. 

"See you tomorrow, Nue." Kiba said, waving goodbye. "See ya." I waved back, then walked into my house and see Okaa-san, Iri, and Maria sitting at the table.

"You have some explaining to do, Nue!" Iri said, pointing a finger at me. "Calm down, Iri." Okaa-san said before looking at me. "Nue, where have you been?" Okaa-san asked me. "I was at the hospital." I answered.

"Hospital? What were you doing there?"

"Kiba and his team found me unconscious on a field."

"What were you doing in a field?" Iri asked. "It's a long story. I think I'm going to lie down." I informed. "Hai, Nue-sama." Maria said with a bow. I went to my room, then flopped on my bed. I grabbed my stuffed tiger and looked up at the ceiling. "Are you ssssure you're doing all right, Nue?" Kiyoshi asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Get some rest." I said. "SSSSee you in the morning Nue." Kiyoshi hissed and went to sleep. 'It won't be long until I take control now. Just wait. Soon, they'll all find out what you really are.' A voice inside my head said.

"No, they won't. I'll make sure of that." I replied, rolling on my side. 'You can't wear that damn cloak forever!' She voice argued. "We'll see." I said. I closed my eyes, thinking to myself as I waited for morning to come.

Iruka's POV

I watched Nue rest on her bed as she stared at her ceiling. "So, you're concerned about her, too?" Kakashi asked from behind me. "Yeah. Kakashi, are you sure it's a good idea to have Nue participate in the Chunin Exams?" I asked.

"I have my worries about her as well." He said. "When I was testing her, the way she fought... it's as if she was actually trying to slaughter that clone. She didn't even hold back. Not once." I informed.

Nue turned on her side to look at her snake, making me narrow her eyes as she wore her cloak on her body. I'm just now started to notice that she walked into her house without hanging up her cloak. "We shouldn't let her participate in the Chunin Exams. She's unstable." I said. "I'm sure Nue can control herself." Kakashi said.

"But what if she can't? What if she ends up killing one of her own teammates?" I demanded. Kakashi looked at me before moving his eyes, or eye, to Nue. "Then, we'll pull her out of the exams."
