Chapter 5

By the time Louis' car got into the garage of the safe house, everyone was tired.

The boys, minus Niall, began to unload the bags. After finally unpacking and stocking up the kitchen, everyone met up in the living room to debrief and prep safety plans for the newly discovered threats.

"Amanda's really cool and sweet. I think she's great for Niall." Lina revealed to the group.

"She is!" Michelle nodded, "I just can't help but worry about her... She discovered her power so fast and it's only a matter of time before the dreams come to her."

Denmy whispered, "I wondered what happened to her.."

"Whatever it is, let's just be happy she's safe and with us." Liam replied.

"When the time comes, we'll help her through it." Michelle stated. "I don't know about you guys, but I can use a relaxing bath right now."

-

The next morning, Amanda woke up and found herself in Niall's arms.

For a vampire, he was quite warm. She couldn't help but cuddle her head further into his chest and felt really safe in his arms. The attraction she felt for him was stronger and she wondered if he felt the same. When she looked up to his face, she saw him already looking down at her.

"Morning gorgeous."

"Good morning Ni." She blushed.

"Did you sleep well?" He asked worried.

She nodded, "And you?"

"Can't really sleep babe, but thanks for asking."

"Vampire thing?"

He nodded, amused. "Definitely a vampire thing. Sadly, the myth of us never sleeping is true."

"Got it." She giggled, "So what's the plan for today?"

"Training." Niall sighed, "It's intense, but I'll see if Louis can take it easy on you."

"Training? For what?"

"Just the basics like running, strength, aim, and self-defense." He replied, "Don't worry babe, we all have to go through with it. It happens every Tuesday and Thursdays. It's just a precautionary work-out to make sure we stay in shape in the case that a situation like this arises."

"Oh god, I'm really weak and slow." She groaned.

Niall chuckled, "You're a vampire now. You're much more faster and stronger than an average human."

The two laid down in silence while she was deep in thought. She was not looking forward to working out, but she'd rather not be the weakest.

"What are you thinking about?" He blurted out.

She looked at him confused and he blushed.

"I-I can't read your thoughts. I can read everyone else's, except yours. I can't help but be cur-"

"I'm just wondering why we're hiding from those vampires."

Niall let out a huge sigh, "There are two kinds of vampires; the good ones and evil. It probably sounds-"

"Cliche?"

He nodded, before going in full detail about everything from the council to her being his soulmate.

"So what you're saying is that they're after everyone's power?"

"Kind of. At least we think the leader behind it is. We have the strongest combination of powers any vampire can have. We're powerful and kind of royal."

"And I'm essentially your other half?" She asked.

He nodded, nervously.

"But what if i'm not a good soulmate? I don't even know how I got here or how to control my powers! I don't even-"

He interrupted her rambling with a kiss and when they pulled away, she was breathless.

"I'm sorry." He froze, once he realized what he did, "I should have asked for your permission. That was very un-gentlemen like and I apologi-"

Instead of being angered, she smiled and pecked his lips. "It's fine. It felt right. Although I think we're going to be late for training... However, I'm totally fine with staying in bed with you all day."

He laughed, "Nice try, but we have to go. Lou will kill me."

"Fine." She pouted, snuggling in closer. "You know for a vampire, you're quite warm."

"When you're with your soulmate, the coldness in you disappears. As cheesy as this may sound, you warmed up my cold heart." He chuckled.

She giggled, "That was the cheesiest thing I've probably ever heard!"

-

Eventually, the two went down the stairs and joined the others in the kitchen and dining room.

"Morning!" Amanda chirped.

Everyone uttered a response and went back to drinking their coffees laced with blood. Niall led her towards the stove and grabbed food for the both of them.

"They might be a little crabby. They aren't exactly morning people and considering they have to work out for 4 hours, they might be moody!" Niall stated, "After breakfast, we're going to start with aim!"

"Aiming with what?.."

"Bow and arrows, knives, and maybe guns." Niall shrugged, placing more bacon on her plate.

"Thank you," She smiled, "Why would we need practice in aiming if we're vampires?"

"In case you are in a dangerous situation, that involves any of those things. We don't want to be too reliant on our powers, especially in public. Practicing a number of useful skill sets, prepare us for whatever that's thrown at us." Denmy answered, walking into the kitchen. "We won't be doing much today, just self defense and aim. Louis says we'll do speed and strength on Tuesdays, so get ready!"

"Okay." Amanda nodded, overwhelmed.

"Its better to be safer than sorry." Liam added, making his way to Denmy, "We'll take it slow for you and you'll get used to it eventually."

"Yeah it took me a couple weeks to get used to it all!" Denmy said.

Liam nodded, "It's not that bad."

"Okay, well thanks for informing her on all this. You either helped or scared her off, so I think Amanda and I are going to finish our breakfast in the dining room." Niall said, ushering her away.

"They're cute together." Denmy cooed.

Liam nodded and kissed her, "I think you're cuter."

-

"Stand up straighter!" Louis advised.

"This is as straight as my back can get." Amanda growled.

"Well then aim for the center then." Louis challenged her.

Amanda did as told and the arrow pierced the target. Everyone was shocked and surprised, while Niall was beaming with pride and joy.

"You did great, babe!" He exclaimed, hugging and kissing her.

"Thanks." She blushed hiding into his chest.

"Well you're obviously strong in archery," Liam stated, "Do you want to try with knives?"

"Um, I guess so. I don't know if I'll be any good..." Amanda said, wearily.

"You'll do great! It's like archery, but without the bow...and arrow." Lina laughed.

"C'mon, I'll help you." Elide smiled, reaching out for Amanda's hand. "This is my best weapon."

The two walked over to the knife station and Elide supplied her with small paring knife.

"Let's start small."

Elide then started giving her pointers on how to position her arm, the knife, and how to throw it. Amanda took it all in and concentrated on her target. Once she was calm and focused, she took a step forward and threw the knife. One again, she miraculously hit the bullseye and everyone cheered.

"I guess I won't be the only expert, now!" Elide smiled, "Thank god, I'll have someone to practice with now!"

For the rest of the training session, they taught her the basics of defense and let her practice on Niall. At the end of the day, she was so physically drained. She made her way into the living room and laid flat onto the couch.

"I'm so tired." She groaned. "Is it supposed to hurt? I thought I'd be stronger than a regular human."

Everyone laughed at her and sped off to shower and change.

"You'll get used to it eventually! It's your first workout and you're only half vampire!" Michelle spoke, returning to start on dinner with Liam.

"Yeah and eventually you'll look forward to training because it's fun!" Lina added, taking out the veggies.

"I guess." She groaned, "I would definitely help you guys but I can't move my arms much..."

"Liam, get her some blood!" Denmy yelled.

"I got it." Niall appeared, walking over to Amanda with a cup.

"Thanks Ni."

"No problem babe."

After eating the delicious dinner, Niall carried her up to their room and placed her onto the bed gently.

She groaned, "Ugh, I have to shower. I feel icky."

"Can I join?" Niall wiggled his eyebrows, jokingly.

"No, you perv! We just met." She laughed.

He shrugged and took off his shirt. "Eh, it was worth a try."

"What are you doing?!" She shrieked and covered her eyes with her hands, yet peaking through her fingers.

"Changing. Am I distracting you?" He smirked, watching as her eyes search his torso.

"U-um yes-I mean no! I think I'm going to go shower now, bye!" She jumped up and straight into the bathroom.

He chuckled and laid out his t-shirt and a pair of Lina's shorts for her to wear to sleep. She hadn't gone shopping yet, so she was stuck with loaners from the other girls and him, but he was fine with it. She looked really cute in his clothes anyways.
