Chapter 27
16:22, 19 September 2021Episode 13, Journey to Ba Sng Se: Part 2: The Drill
I can't believe we lost Appa.
After we left Zuko and Iroh behind, we found out about a huge ancient library. Of course we went there and tried to find out something about the Fire Nation and its weakness.
We found something interesting but then we had to piss off that huge owl spirit which lived there. That stupid owl made the library sink.
Since Toph and Appa stayed behind, she tried to held up the library and meanwhile some stupid sandbenders kidnapped Appa.
As if life wasn't enough already, we had to lose him. Poor Appa. They should've kidnapped me but not him.
After that, we made it through a whole lot of desert alive and found out that the stuipd sandbenders sold Appa.
And we still needed to get the information about the solar eclipse to the earth king. That would be the day on which the Fire Nation will be the weakest and our day to finally end the war.
Guess we're headed to Ba Sing Se, the earth kingdom's capital. Maybe we could find Appa there as well.
We wanted get there with a ship that brings refugees to Ba Sing Se. But it wouln't be our story if that worked out.
We ended up helping a pregnant woman and her family. Their passports and belongings had been stolen. Unfortunately, the passport was pretty much needed for a ticket for the ship.
So Aang decided to help them get to Ba Sing Se through the Serpant's Pass.
Of course, that didn't go smoothly. But we made it to Ba Sing Se alive, that's all that matters. If we could spend a day in the city alive was the next question.
Since we had left Iroh and Zuko alone, my days went by without me really processing what actually happened. My mind was with the two constantly. I just hoped that they were fine.
But what hurt me more was that Zuko just straight out rejected me and my help. I didn't get why he would do that. I mean, he even asked me to go with him and kissed me. That idiot.
Neither my siblings nor Toph or Aang talked about my little outburst because of Iroh again. But I knew they were wondering why I had been so sad.
Sokka did his big brother duty more than before. Katara was suspicious about my behaviour on that day, I could feel that, but she never mentioned it. Toph and Aang didn't really do anything new.
I snapped back to reality when we arrived at the wall with the refugees we brought there. Aang came flying towards us on his glider with a panicked expression.
He had gone ahead to start looking for Appa in the city. Guess that didn't work.
I let out a sigh and waited for Aang to explain what had happened. Maybe it's something bigger so that I could distract myself a bit.
A drill?! I gawked at the massive machine on the other side of the wall. I can't believe the Fire Nation wants to make a hole into the wall.
And in addition to that, the general, who was in charge for the wall, told us our help was not needed. That was until the drill started drilling and all the earthbenders were taken out by Ty Lee.
"That stupid Princess, I swear I'm gonna take her down," I mumbled angrily as I was watching the drill coming closer to the wall.
I didn't notice the others glancing at each other and nodding. Aang came up to me and cleared his throat. I had a bad feeling about what he was going to tell me.
"You should go into the city and start looking for Appa," he said and my face hardened as I shot him a glare. He stepped away from me immediately and smiled innoceently.
"What I meant, was we are enough people to stop the drill so you could already start looking around the city for something suspicious."
I took a deep breath and looked over my shoulder at my siblings who were carefully listening to us. I knew right away that they never planned on taking me to any fight in the near future.
They thought I was still too angry and sad so that I would go too far and hurt myself because I'm not in the right mind.
I decided to not start an argument now since the drill was more important.
"Fine," I huffed out and shot all of them a glare before one of the guards took me to the train like things that took people into the city.
I sat in there with arms and legs crossed and a pissed off expression on my face as I looked out of the window.
"What's got you annoyed like that? You look like you could kill someone," a voice spoke up as he sat down next to me.
I looked at him and his sharp eyebrows were the first thing that cought my eye. He had bushy brown hair and he had a grass like thing sticking out of his mouth. He was handsome.
"Yeah, exactly. So get lost before I decide it will be you," I grumbled and looked back out of the window. I really didn't want any company at that moment.
He only chuckled but didn't get up. I sighed, "I lost a friend of mine."
"I'm sorry," he said and shot me a small smile before eying me more carefully, "I'm Jet by the way".
"Jasmine," I replied looking back at him.
"A pretty face for a pretty girl," he said and I rolled my eyes at his pick-up line.
"Has that ever worked?" I asked him with raised eyebrows and a half smile.
He let out a chuckle, "I'm only stating the truth."
After a few moments of silence he spoke up again, "What brings you to Ba Sing Se?"
I waited a couple of seconds before answering. That I travelled with the Avatar was a secret so a simple excuse would do.
"Fire Nation," I briefly answered him and a hint of curiosity flashed in his eyes.
"Same here," he said and eyed me, "I understand your pain, probably the best of all people."
"What do you think about standing up against the Fire Nation?" he suddenly asked and I got a bad feeling about him.
"Why?" I slowly asked and raised an eyebrow at him.
"I think they're trying to invade the city from the inside. I saw an old man heating his tea," he told me and I sat up straight looking at him like he was crazy, "Come and join the Freedom Fighters. I see a lot of potential in you."
I didn't know what to think about his sudden change of mind, but I certainly didn't like it.
Joining his 'gang' was not going to happen. I had other priorities and things to do. And accusing someone of being a firebender because of a hot tea was just crazy.
I let out a laugh, "Listen buddy, tea is usually hot, there's nothing 'Fire Nationy' about that. And, I have no interest joining your Freedom Freaks or whatever."
He looked at me dumbfounded and I got up to leave the train.
"I saw them with my own eyes! There was a younger guy around our age as well, Lee, and he had a huge scar on his face," he exclaimed and followed me.
I briefly tensed thinking about Zuko but quickly shook th thought off.
"We need to stop them before they can claim the city," he started again and I quickly turned around. I grabbed him by his collar and slammed him into a nearby wall.
"Listen cowboy, I am not interested in your stupid idea, so get lost," I told him as he was getting on my nerves and pushed him into the wall one more time before walking away from him.
This city is way too big for it's own good. I've been walking around the whole day and I asked various of people for any iformation about a bison or where animals are held in the city. These people, however, seem to be too scared to even say a word.
It's already dark and I haven't found Aang or my silbings and I have no idea where they could be. My stomach was making weird noises and a groan escaped my lips.
I'm hungry, I have no idea about my family, I am lost in that huge city, and I have no information about Appa.
It couldn't get any better. Yeah wait it could, since I probably have to sleep out here somewhere completely alone.
As I was walking through the dark street, I heard people shouting until two people came flying out of a window a few metres in front of me.
I jumped and took a step back. They hit the ground before quickly standing up and fighting with swords.
It was dark and I couldn't see their faces properly. I squited my eyes and gasped when it was the cowboy guy with the grass in his mouth.
"You," I said and he quickly looked at me before conentrating back on the fight.
"Please son, you're confused. You don't know what you're doing," a familiar voice said but I was too angry to recognise it immediately.
The two boys kept on fighting when I saw a fountain. I manipulated a bit of water out of it until I had enough for a water whip.
I whipped Jet in his side and he flew back a few metres. I acted on my emotions since I had too much and he was getting on my nerves purely with his existence.
"Jet you cowboy!" I exclaimed getting closer to him letting the water spill on the floor, "Stop annoying other people with your stupid Fire Nation and freedom talk!"
"Get out of my way, Jasmine," He said and got up, "Don't you see, the Fire Nation is trying to silence me!"
"I'm sure not only the Fire Nation wants to silence you," I said and got into fighting position.
"These are the people I told you about," he told me and pointed behind my back.
As I turned around I rolled my eyes, "I'm sure they are from the Fi-" I stopped my sarcastic comment when I saw who was standing in front of me.
