Episode 8, The Chase

To think we could remain a few days without any trouble or fights was stupid. Just stupid.

It was evening and we built up our tents. I yawned as I stood up after finishing with the tent.

Sokka was struggling with making fire and a chuckle left my lips. I walked up to him and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Why do you keep making fire that way? You have me," I said and shot a small fireball into the fire pit. It started to burn and a flame was there after a few seconds.

"There you go," I said and sat down beside my brother. I stretched and another yawn left my mouth before I plopped down on the ground, closing my eyes.

"Hey you shouldn't sleep on the cold ground," Sokka whispered and popped his finger in my shoulder continuously.

"It's not that bad," I told him and turned my back to him. I was just too lazy to stand up and way too tired to move.

"If you say so," he said and stood up. Just when I was about to fall asleep, a blanket was thrown over me and Sokka laid down next to me with his sleeping stuff. I smiled slightly before falling asleep.

Not even five minutes later Toph woke all of us up, saying that something was coming our way.

I rubbed my eyes and looked at her with knitted eyebrows. You've got to be kidding me. I internally groaned and we decided to be on the safe side and leave.

We quickly packed our belongings before climbing back on Appa. As we flew away, we saw a huge metallic vehicle coming our way.

I let out a sigh as I watched it until it got out of my sight.

After we landed I collapsed on the floor and let out a yawn. Katara and Toph had an argument about unloading our stuff. And honestly, it was annoying. I couldn't sleep with this loud nagging.

I stood up and walked over to Katara. "Hey, I don't think we should unload more than our sleeping bags," I said as I approached her.

She turned around and glared at me. "Listen, I have a bad feeling about this and you just waste our sleeping time," I told her and ignored her glare.

She gasped, "I waste our time?" She asked not believing it, "If you all would unload I didn't have to waste our time!"

I rolled my eyes, "Katara please shut up for once."

She huffed and stomped her foot on the ground. I went back to Appa and laid down on his fluffy tail.

"The stars sure are beautiful tonight," Katara said and I let out a groan. Can't she just shut up we're trying to sleep.

"Too bad you can't see them Toph," Katara added and Toph made an earth pole shoot out below Katara. She flew in the air and landed on top of Sokka.

He groaned and got Katara off of him. "How are we supposed to ssleep with this much talking and earthquaking!"

They were silent for a few seconds and I smiled at the thought of finally being able to sleep.

"That thing is back," Topf suddenly said and my eyes shot open. I let out a frustrated cry and slapped my hands over my face.

"I'm going to kill whoever that is," I mumbled and got up from the ground, rolling my sleeves up.

"That's not a good idea," Aang said and grabbed my arm and dragged me on Appa.

"How do they keep finding us?" I asked rubbing my eyes before laying down on the saddle.

"I don't know but this time I'm gonna make sure we lose them," Aang said and Appa's pace quickened and I hummed in agreement.

On top of a mountain, Appa fell on his side making us fall off immediately. I didn't even move and planned on sleeping right there on the floor.

Katara and Toph started to bicker again. "Shut up you two," I snapped and Katara opened her mouth to say something. Luckily Aang beat her to it.

"Come on guys, there's something after us and we don't even know what or who it is," Aang said.

I completely ignored them and snuggled up on the ground.

My eyes shot up at Katara's next statement. "It could be Zuko. We haven't seen him since the north pole."

My heart started beating faster and I sat up. "No, I don't think so," I quickly said shaking my head. But somehow it felt like I was only trying to reassure myslef.

"Who's Zuko?" Toph asked sounding confused and looking my way like she knew something.

I mean, Zuko didn't have a vehicle like that. I would have seen it on the ship somewhere during my walks through the whole ship. But then again, the ship exploded right before we came to the north pole.

"Oh just some angry freak with a ponytail who's tracked us all over the world and kidnapped Jasmine," Sokka mumbled.

"What's wrong with ponytails, ponytail?" Katara asked with a smile on her face.

"This is a warrior's wolf tail," Sokka mumbled into the ground and pointed at his ponytail.

"Can we all just be quiet and get our deserved sleep," I said with a smile on my face laying on the ground again.

"Finally," I whispered to myself and closed my eyes.

Momo didn't shut up and looked down from the mountain. "That's impossible," Aang breathed out and I got up from the ground.

"I can feel it with my own two feet," Toph said and I narrowed my eyes at the smoke cloud coming our way. That stupid vehicle and its smoke cloud.

"Maybe we should leave," Katara said and I shook my head. "No this time we're going to kick their asses for stealing our sleep," I whispered.

"Yes, we should face them, maybe they are friendly," Aang said and I glanced at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah this huge vehicle doesn't look like it belongs to evil people at all," I commented as the vehicle came to a halt on the foot of the mountain.

Its doors opened and out came three large lizards. I squinted my eyes and gasped. "No way," I breathed out when I saw the people sitting on top of them.

"It's the three girls from Omashu," Katara said and took a step back.

"You're right Aang, these are the friendliest people we have came across so far," I said playfully and Aang mumbled something under his breath.

"We can take them," Toph said as everyone got inlto a fighting position, "Four on three."

Sokka looked at the little girl, "Actually, Toph, there's five of us."

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't count you," she said with a chuckle and I let out a small laugh. "You know, no bending and all."

"She's got a point you know," I added and shot Sokka a smirk.

"I can still fight," Sokka exclaimed glaring at us.

I nodded and laughed. "Okay, four on three plus Sokka," Toph said and Sokka's face got red and he growled at us.

Toph made huge rocks come out of the ground into the three girl's way. But the lizards just walked over them.

"Why do they always have something so cool?" I asked and looked at the amazing lizards.

"We wanted to find out who they were and we did," Sokka said and put his boomerang away, "now let's get out of here."

We went back to Appa and Toph created a huge wall that separated our camping place from the path the three girls were coming up.

When we all were back on Appa, Azula broke the wall with her lightning and my jaw dropped. That was so cool.

We flew away quickly and I let out a sigh when I saw that the sun was about to rise. I leaned on the saddle and looked at the trees we were passing.

While Sokka was freaking out, I tried to think about how they were able to find us so quickly. But as soon as we land, they will find us within a few minutes.

It's not possible to stay up in the air all the time. Appa is not a machine, he needs sleep as well as we do.

Talking about sleep, just when we wanted to take a short nap, Appa fell asleep. He fell and we hold onto the saddle to not fall down either.

We all screamed and Aang frantically tried to wake Appa up. Just before we hit the ground, he woke up and flew up in the air slightly.

He couldn't get over the trees in time, so we flew through the trees before we fell on the ground. I groaned and held my head as branches had hit me there.

"Okay, we have a lot of distance to these girls now," Sokka said as we jumped down of Appa, "now let's get some sleep."

I nodded and put my sleeping bag on the floor before laying down. But Katara wouldn't be Katara if she didn't start nagging about Toph not helping us unload earlier.

"I'm just saying, maybe if you helped out earlier, we could have set up our camp faster and gotten some sleep," Katara said and I buried my face into the pillow.

"You're blaming me for this?" Toph shouted and I shouted into my pillow. I just want to get some sleep and these people stand in the way.

"No, she's not blaming you," Aang interfered and I had enough and got up as well.

"No, I'm blaming her," Katara said and I approached them with clenched fists.

"Hey, I never asked you for you for diddly-dooda. I carry my own weight," Toph exclaimed, "Besides, if there's anyone to blame, it's sheddy over there!"

Toph pointed at Appa and it actually made sense.

"What? You're blaming Appa?" Aang asked getting fed up as well.

"Yeah, you wanna know why they keep finding us?" Toph asked and put a hand on Appa. His fur got loose and the wind carried it away.

"He's leaving a trail everywhere we go," Toph said and I got between the three of them before it could escalate.

"How dare you blame Appa? He saved your life more than three times today. If there's anyone to blame it's you!" Aang shouted and glared at Toph.

"You're always talking about how you carry your own weight but you're not," Aang continued to yell and pointed at Appa, "He is. Appa's carrying your weight. He never had a problem flying when it was just the four of us."

"Shut up all of you!" I shouted and they looked at me, "You all are to blame, you idiots! If you would just shut up for once and not argue we could've gotten some sleep."

Toph took a deep breath and turned away from us. "I'm out of here," she said and took her bag before walking away into the forest.

There goes the only earthbending teacher we have. I let out a huff and crossed my arms before glaring at Katara and Aang, "Great."
