Episode 4, The Warriors of Kyoshi

I woke up to someone banging at my door. What in the Avatar's name happened, the sun hasn't even risen yet. I got up and opened the door rubbing my eyes. Zuko was standing in front of me tapping his foot on the floor. "What?" I asked looking up at him. Yeah, I'm not a friendly morning person.

"Get ready, uncle wants to see you" he stated walking away. "Okay your majesty." I whispered ironically after I closed my door.

I got ready and looked presentable and got out of my room. A sigh escaped my lips as I looked left and right but didn't know where to go. That stupid prince hasn't told me where I need to go. So I decided to take the left side. After I walked a bit I got on deck where a few guards were.

I approached the nearest one and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and took off his helmet and he didn't look much older than me, maybe four or five years. "Excuse me, where can I find General Iroh" I asked him smiling kindly.

He smiled back and replied, "He will be here in a few minutes, Miss." Did he just call me Miss? "Thank you. And you can call me Jasmine. No need for Miss." I said with a wave of my hand. "I am Kano" he introduced himself. He's cute.

Iroh walked towards us, "Good morning Jasmine." Iroh greeted me and I smiled in response, "I want you to join me for a cup of tea."

"Sure" I said but furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. Why would he want to drink tea with me this early in the morning? I followed him to a little table on deck. He motioned for me to sit down. I did as he said and waited got him to say something. I was sure he wanted to talk with me about something.

Before he said something he poured himself and me a cup of tea. I thanked him and took a sip. "I wanted to talk about your fire bending abilities. I thought about letting you train with my nephew but I first need to know how much you already can." Right, he mentioned something like that yesterday. "Well, as you know, I trained myself as far as I could." I told him.

He nodded and motioned with his hand for a guard to come. The guard came to a halt, "I want you to show me all the things you can." Iroh addressed me with this sentence and looked up at the guard, who was Kano, "And I want you to fight her, but no hurting, only as far as she can defend herself." He instructed Kano.

He wants me to fight with someone?! I mean my fire bending is acceptable for someone who trained herself but it's no match to a Fire Navy soldier's. I looked at Iroh in hope to find something that would tell me he was joking, but he was totally serious.

I hesitantly stood up and moved to the middle of the deck so I wouldn't hurt Iroh accidentally. Kano followed me and stood ready to attack me. I took a breath and concentrated on not using my water bending. I didn't notice Iroh motioning to Kano to start and it took me off guard.

A small steam of fire came towards me but I dodged it quickly but it burned my forearm a bit. I shook my head not giving the burn further attention. Before he could attack me again I shot two fire punches in his direction. When he saw that my fire was blue, he got confused and stumbled a few steps back.

This is my chance, I smirked and shot fire in his direction in any way possible so that he couldn't get a chance to attack me again. I must have paused a moment too long with my next attack that he could recover and attack me back. As I dodged his attacks, I took a few steps back.

I got to the edge of the deck and it was getting more difficult to dodge his attacks as he was coming nearer. Out of reflex I raised both my arms in the air clasping my hands together. With one swift and quick movement I swung my arms down until they almost touched the floor. My jaw dropped when I saw what I have just done.

An enormous blue fire wall just made its way towards Kano and he went flying over board. The fire wall lasted a few more moments before it disappeared. I was frozen in place and looked down on the floor. There was still a fine line where the fire wall was on and the line went across the deck to the other side of the ship where Kano fell down.

Kano! I ran up to the edge and looked over it only to see Kano swimming up to the ship. one guard let down a rope and they lifted Kano up. As soon as he was on deck another guard handed him a blanket.

"Oh my Avatar, I am so so so sorry. Are you okay?" I asked him. He only smiled, "Yeah, I'm fine. But what you did was truly amazing." He complimented. Before I could thank him Iroh approached us and wanted to talk about what had happened.

We sat down where we were sitting before, "You trained yourself, right?" he wanted to be sure and when I nodded my head he continued, "You truly are talented my dear. How did you train yourself?" Iroh wanted to know.

"I found some techniques in a book of my mom and so I tried to fire bend." I told him about the book but without mentioning my water bending, I didn't trust him enough yet. The old man looked deep in thought and I decided not to disturb him. After a while of silence he asked me if I could do something else. I decided that I could tell him about lightning but I wouldn't ever tell someone of my water bending.

"I can produce lightning." I told him and he looked shocked for a few seconds but recovered quickly. "Can you show me?" he asked me and I nodded standing up. I cleared my mind and concentrated and with my index and middle finger I shot lightning in the air. Iroh nodded slightly and I sat back down.

"You're good. I am impressed by your skills since you trained yourself. You can start training tomorrow." He stated before a guard came towards us and informed us about what they found about Aang's whereabouts. Nothing. They have no idea where he is. I released a breath of relieve. He is save that's all that matters now. He needs to save the world.

"We need to inform my nephew, are you coming?" Iroh asked snapping me back to reality. I nodded and followed him since I had nothing to do. When we arrived in front of Zuko's room Iroh turned to me and told me to not say anything or Zuko will, well, be himself. I nodded not wanting to deal with the aggressive prince. He won't take the news well.

Why is he even so obsessed with Aang, I don't understand. Iroh knocked before opening the door. I looked over his shoulder to see what was happening and saw that Zuko was sitting in front of candles, clearly meditating.

"The only reason you should be interrupting me is if you have news about the Avatar." He said calmy opening his eyes. it was weird seeing him this calm and relaxed. Iroh opened the door completely and stepped inside while stayed standing in the doorway.

"Well there is news, Prince Zuko." Iroh cleared his throat, "but you might not like it. Don't get too upset." Iroh continued. "Uncle, you taught me that keeping a level head is a sign of a great leader. Now, whatever you have to say, I'm sure I can take it." He stated calmly. I snorted and stepped inside the room standing beside Iroh and behind Zuko. And I'm sure he can't take the news at all. Zuko glanced at me but ignored it. "Well then, we have no idea where he is." Before Iroh could even finish his sentence the flames from the candles grew bigger just like when a bomb explodes. "What?!" the prince exclaimed standing up. I jumped at his outburst but Iroh didn't even flinch. I waved my hand in front of my face to get the smoke away, "You really should open a window in here." Iroh suggested waving his fan around.

"Give me the map." Zuko ignored his uncle and snatched the map out of Iroh's hand. "There have been multiple sighting of the Avatar, but he is impossible to track down." Iroh informed his nephew. A little proud smile made its way.

Zuko didn't take this information well, "How am I gonna find him, uncle?" he asked with a hint of desperation in his voice. He clearly has been looking for Aang for a long time now. "He is clearly a master of evasive manoeuvring." He stated looking at the map. Well, he is the Avatar, what was he thinking.

My stomach growled and I quickly put my hand on it. I wanted to mentally slap myself, as if my hand would stop the growling. I hope no one heard it but I guess they did since they looked at me. My cheeks grew hot out of embarrassment and I put a weird half smile on my face. "You're hungry." Zuko said raising an eyebrow. Way to state the obvious, your majesty.

"I would have never noticed. Thank you, your majesty." I said rolling my eyes. I should definitely calm down and not let it out on him. "Sorry." I mumbled under my breath shifting my weight on my right foot.

"Let's go eat lunch then" Iroh smiled walking out of the room. I quickly followed him not wanting to be alone with the prince. We went into s room with a table in it. "Don't you have a canteen?" I asked Iroh as I sat down. "Yes, but only our guards eat there. You will be eating with us." He told me and we sat in silence waiting for our meal and Zuko.

I hope Sokka and Katara are fine. I miss them and the sibling moments we had. Today we could have celebrated Katara's mine birthday together. I dismissed the depressing thoughts when Zuko entered the room and the cook brought us our fish. I smiled as the cook was putting the plates down. I was so ready to eat something but my smile fell when the cook told us some interesting news.

"The Avatar is on Kyoshi Island?!" Zuko exclaimed jumping up. "Uncle, ready the rhinos. He's not getting away from me this time." He ordered walking out of the room. I lost my appetite and got on deck. The ship changed its course slightly and I sat down in one corner where I would be alone.

My forearm hurt and I furrowed my brows. I pulled up my sleeve and looked at my arm. It hurt because of the burn I got this morning. I made sure that no one was around and got up standing at the edge. I manipulated the water underneath to come up and I let the water surround my hand. The water started to glow a bit when I brought my water hand on my burn. It hurt a bit but after a few seconds the burn disappeared as if it never happened.

I smiled to myself, proud that I succeeded with the healing but my smile fell when I heard someone. I quickly let the water drop in the ocean again and turned to the direction where the voices are coming from.

I made my way back on deck to see that Zuko and Iroh were talking ready to catch Aang. I tried my luck to go with them so I could escape. "When are we going?" I asked with a smile on my face approaching them. Zuko didn't look happy and called a guard, "Lock her up in her room. Don't let her out, doesn't matter what happens" he ordered and the guard grabbed my arm a bit too hard. "Hey." I exclaimed trying to shake my arm free. Zuko shot the guard a glare and he loosened his grip a bit.

"If anything goes wrong we would still have you to threatened the Avatar." He explained and the guard led me to my room. I let him because I had a plan which I hoped would go right. That would be the best birthday present of the world.
