34. Love Story

Caleb drove up to where the fatal car crash was, he lowered his hat and drove away.

Elizabeth woke up with her arms in the air, she was strapped in her seat while the car was upside down. She looked back to see her dog not moving, "Molly?" She didn't respond, "Molly!" Elizabeth tried to unbuckle her seatbelt and once it finally let loose she fell. She crawled to where her dog was lying, and picked her up. Molly was alive, but she wouldn't be for long. "Molly?" The dog got very comfortable in her arms, "Molly I'm so so SO sorry."

People gathered around the accident some people called the police, while others called Captain Man and Kid Danger.

Down in the Mancave... "Hey we're getting a video call." Said Henry.

"I'll get it." Said Charlotte.

"Wait, don't answer it! We're not in uniform!" Yelled Ray.

"I'm not gonna turn on OUR camera, it's not my first day."

"Captain Man emergency hotline, what is your situation?" Asked Ray.

"Hello, Captain Man, Kid Danger!?"

"Yes, it's us. What's the problem?"

"There's been a really bad accident."

"How bad?" Asked Henry.

"Well..." the caller turned around the camera to reveal the upside down destroyed car.

"Oh my god!" The three of them chorused.

"The police said that they need your help."

=====

"Okay we're on our way." Replied Henry.

"Kid, I think you know what to chew and blow."

"I think I do know. You're talking about the gum right?"

"Yeah I mean the gum! Let chew some GUM."

"And save a chum."

At the accident... "oh man! It looks even worse in person!" Captain Man screamed.

"Are they even still alive!?" Yelled Kid Danger.

"We don't know." Replied an officer.

Kid Danger started circling the car and saw a window that had been shattered and fell out. "Hello? Are you okay?"

"I'm always okay."

Kid Danger stopped, there was only one person he knew that says that whenever they're asked if they're okay. "Uh... what's your name?"

"Elizabeth-Lillian."

"Liz!" He whispered.

Elizabeth turned, "Hen—Kid Danger."

"What happened!?"

"I'll explain later."

"Hey! She's alive!" Captain Man ran over, "is there anyone else in there with you?"

"Just Molly."

"Cover your head." Elizabeth did as instructed and Kid Danger broke a bigger window, "okay, give me Molly." Elizabeth handed Kid Danger her dying dog, and took Captain Man's hand who pulled her out.

Elizabeth stood up and covered her mouth and nose, "ooooooohhhhhh, my dad's gonna kill me."

"If your dad is the man I think he is, he'll just be grateful that you're still alive." Kid Danger reassured. Two paramedics ran over, one took Elizabeth's hand and the other took Molly. Then they heard yelling coming from the crowd. "I think one of the Thornton women is here." Kid Danger whispered to Captain Man.

Nonetheless, Mrs.Briar Rose Thornton came out of the crowd, and embraced her daughter, placing many kisses all over her face and asked worried mother questions, as well as hugging her again and again.

Kid Danger hid somewhere and blew another bubble causing him to transform into his normal clothes. Henry was allowed in the ambulance as well as Briar Rose.

In the ambulance... "So what happened?" Ask Henry.

"Caleb happened."

"Oh my gosh!" Mrs.Thornton yelled irritatedly, "when will that boy get the memo!? You're not interested! He follows you around like a puppy dog, it's pathetic!"

"Couldn't have said it better myself."

"Oh, Molly." Mrs.Thornton said once she noticed the dog sitting on her daughter's lap. "You're such a good girl. We're gonna miss you."

"I still can't get over the fact that you're still alive." Henry said in amazement.

"Well, I think part of it's because I was wearing a seatbelt. When the car flipped it locked me in so I was strapped to my seat."

"That's good, 'cause I do not want to pay for anymore funerals for a LONG time." Briar Rose informed.

At Swellview Hospital... "Come on pregnant lady you need to get checked out." Said one of the nurses.

They took them to a room where they did the ultrasound, the sonogramer was checking to make sure that the baby was okay. "How far along are you?"

"Almost six weeks."

"Well, I got to say, this is a little early." She looked at them and smiled, "we have a heartbeat." She showed them the monitor and then a sound that sounded like a stampede was in the room. Henry and Mrs.Thornton smiled while Elizabeth-Lillian just stared at the screen, she thought for a moment and eventually a small smile formed across her lips.

At the car dealership... Mr.Jack Thornton was standing there looking at the remains of the car. Elizabeth then approached him, "sorry Dad."

"Oh, it's okay Flower." He said wrapping an arm around her, "it wasn't my car."

"My car!!!" Andy ran up to his car, Elizabeth's mouth dropped and she looked at her dad who gave her a sly smile in return.

"Well, Andrew," Jack said, putting a hand on his shoulder, "that's what you get for messing with the Thorntons."

July 4, 2016... the group of friends were chilling in the Mancave and Elizabeth was doing something on her tablet.

Topanga Canyon, California June 20, 1998... Jack and Briar Rose were 22 and have been courting for six years. They stood in their spot that was hidden from the rest of the world through the thick lush forest. They were standing there hand in hand watching the sun set on Topanga Canyon.

"This is beautiful." Briar Rose commented, "even after six years of seeing this it never gets old."

"Yeah, it is pretty amazing isn't it." Jack agreed.

"It's gonna be hard for you to top this off."

"I'll try." Briar Rose looked at him confused and then her expression went blank when he got down on one knee. "Marry me Briar Rose? You never have to be alone, I love you. And that's all I really know, I talked to your Dad go pick out a white dress, it's a love story baby just say—"

"Yes."

Jack slid the ring onto her finger, "I know it's no diamond, but when we get back home I promise I'll get you a really nice one."

Briar teared up, "it's perfect."

"It's a piece of wrapped up parachute cord."

Present day... "Liz, what are you doing?" Asked Henry when he noticed how she would hum, type, and tap the screen.

"Writing a song."

"Who's it for?"

"My parents, it's their anniversary."

"Your parents got married on the Fourth of July?"

"Uh huh."

"So that's your present?"

"I guess, but I also have something else planned."

"What's that?"

"They never really got an actual wedding of their own due to circumstances. So we're planning on throwing them a small wedding at the dude ranch."

"Aww that's so sweet." Commented Charlotte.

"Yeah yeah yeah." Stated Elizabeth. "Okay, test run. I got the music. Lets just see how it goes overall." She listened to the music through her earbuds and hummed along, then she clapped her hands, threw her hands up and shouted, "done!"

Later that night... "Elizabeth where are you taking me?" Her mother laughed.

"To the dude ranch."

"Why?"

"You'll see." When they got out of the car Briar gasped in amazement, "it's your wedding day!"

There was an arch with twinkling lights by the dock, tea candles lit a pathway, and red rose petals were along the path. Mr.Thornton was in his dress blues and Mrs.Thornton was wearing a beautiful white dress, her hair was curled, see wore a fingertip length veil with her family's wedding crown. She held a bouquet of red roses and white lilies.

After the ceremony... "Some people," started Elizabeth, "describes my parent's love story and marriage as a fairy tale. They say that it's like Romeo and Juliet. Therefore, I wrote a song for their 16th anniversary, it's called 'Love Story'.

August 6, 2016... Elizabeth came back from her work in the performing arts and is now four months pregnant. They found out their due date before she left, February 4, 2017. Was the day that was said for Elizabeth to go into labor.

Henry was waiting at the airport for her and when he saw her his mouth dropped. She walked over to him and nervously smiled, "surprise!" She said sticking her arms out. His mouth was still hanging open, "yeah, I know, when I looked in the mirror I had the same reaction."

"Your 17 weeks right?"

"Mm hmm."

"I honestly didn't expect you to look pregnant by this time."

"Neither did I."

"I even looked at pictures online."

"Me too!"

"Wow!" Henry said, rubbing his neck.

"Yeah, I can't pass for a but heavier anymore. I look pregnant."

Henry rolled in his lips and nodded. "Is that a new jacket?"

"Yeah, Sam lit mine on fire."

"Why?"

"I don't know, it's Sam, sometimes I think she's Andy's daughter and not David's."

Henry looked her up and down and smiled, "It's good to see you." He said embracing her.

"You too." She hugged him back.

"FYI. When you get home you might want to get ready."

"Get ready for what?"

He stopped and looked at her, "take a walk with me?" He said stretching out his hand, Elizabeth smiled and nodded.

————Henry and Elizabeth Lillian were walking in Swellview Park together hand in hand.

"So how is your whole job schedule working out now?"

"Well, I got all my last checks, did my last interviews, and said my last good byes and finalized all my works in the performing arts. So I'm done unless I go back after the Corps."

"So how are you doing school?"

"I'm doing it off and on. Tuesday, Saturday, and Thursday I'm working and do school work on my free time on those days. Then Monday,Wednesday, and Friday I'm at school. But I do have Sunday off. However I'm Corlãrian-Cartalian so who knows how busy I actually am." She shrugged.

Henry chuckled, "So you're Dad's working again."

"Yeah he signed back up for becoming a Drill Instructor in San Diego. He may be gone for a while however he does get long breaks from being gone and it keeps him from being deployed for up to two years. And even then his contract is up."

"So are you still going to be working for the Corps when the baby comes?"

"I'm not sure yet. I can get out by being listed as Honorably Medically Discharged. But the military does give me stability so it might be good to stay."—————After the walk... Henry, Elizabeth, Charlotte, and Regina were all sitting on the couch watching a movie, the younger kids were in bed, Abuelita was doing her own thing in her room, and Mrs.Thornton had to go back to work for a while.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door, "I'll get it." Elizabeth started rising from her seat. She was very smiley, after all, she was home, didn't have to worry about Hollywood for a while, and was having fun with her boyfriend and friends. But that smile faded when she opened the door and saw two Marines standing there.

Elizabeth-Lillian Thornton let out a little gasp and Regina paused the movie as the group of friends all looked to see what was happening.

"I'm looking for Elizabeth-Lillian Thornton." Stated the first Marine.

"I'm Elizabeth-Lillian Thornton." They looked at eachother and removed their hats, she inhaled sharply, "has he been hurt?"

"No ma'am." Answered the second Marine.

"Just, tell me he's...still...alive."

"I'm sorry ma'am." Informed the first one.

"No no no no no no no no no no no NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! DAD! DAD! DAAAAD!" She screamed as her vision became clouded with tears and she lowered to the ground with every word.
