๐ฒ๐๐๐๐๐๐ 7
13:25, 5 September 2025I looked up from my laptop. โEverything okay?โ
โBetter than okay,โ he said.
He came to stand behind me, arms around my shoulders. I leaned back without even thinking. We had learned each otherโs rhythms. When to speak, when to be silent. When silence was the language.
Then he said, โOpen the drawer.โ
I blinked. โWhat?โ
โThe drawer,โ he said again, quieter.
I pulled it open, expecting paperwork or another forgotten USB stick.
But insteadโ
There was a small box. Square. Velvet.
I turned to look at him.
โI didnโt want it to be dramatic,โ he said, a little breathless. โI didnโt want flash or champagne or a press release. Justโฆ this. The place where it all started again.โ
I opened the box.
Inside was a ring. Simple, gold, warm in the light. Inside it, engraved in tiny, careful letters:
> โMeet me where the sky turns grey.โ
My eyes filled before I could stop them.
โHao,โ I whispered.
He kneltโright there, between his desk and the open window, where the city hummed below and time held its breath again.
โLetโs stop remembering,โ he said, eyes never leaving mine. โLetโs start writing.โ
I laughed through the tears. โAre you asking?โ
โIโm asking.โ
And of all the things Iโd ever said to himโ
This was the easiest.
โYes.โ
That night, he didnโt lock the drawer.
He just left it open, the box still inside, as if to say:
This love doesnโt need to be hidden anymore.
And when the sky turned grey the next morningโ
We met again.
But this time, not as almosts.
This time, as forevers.
