Chapter 10 - This Looks Familiar

After a minute or so I wipe my eyes, apologising to V over and over while pushing my nose into the comfort of his chest.

"Mel, please, if you push any harder your nose and my chest will be one and the same" he laughs gently as I apologies again and pull away, seeing the mark I'd left on his skin.

He kisses my head gently and we begin to walk to where the others are lounging and planning for the next phase of our mission.

"... on the second floor, kid you and lady take the back of the house, Trish your front and centre..." Dante looks to each of them as he tells them where to go. Clearly V and I had missed a lot.

They have stationed us at the side entrance with your lover and his familiars. Thanks Shirai

"...with that everyone knows where they are and what to do. Nico as always is our get away, she will be stationed three streets away with Morrison. Lady will send up a flare with her gun once the job is done. Blue if we kill the bastard, Red if we seal him away..." I look to the east of us, just past the outer line of the city there are lights on a hill that I assume is our targets location. The manor is supposed to be abandoned but it looks like someone is home tonight. Great potential worshipping idiots to deal with as well.

"What if there are worshippers here. Demons usually warrant that crap and Morrison said minimal damage, so where do we stand on them or other intruders?"

"Cops know you're there so shouldn't be a problem, an' they have a perimeter to prevent others from getting hurt. Lights are on so y'all can see whatcha doing, yer welcome." Morrison tips his hat as he says this and I breath a sigh of relief. So no interferance after all...good...I still don't know what I might end up doing here.

We all set up a barbeque (Nico, for once has decent food) and rest up untill the sun begins to dip behind the horizon. Then we all jump in the truck and on the bike - Trish with Lady as I still don't want to be near her - and head out.

"Are you ready for this Mel? You've had a tough day of it." I smile at Dante and Vergil as they express they're concerns but rub my fingers subconsciously through shirai's fur, humming softly as I steady my breathing. V hums in agreement to his brothers as he reads his book, arms wrapped around my waist as we sit in the armchair together.

"I should be ok boys, besides you wouldn't let me do anything stupid would you Griff?" He ruffles at the question, clearly not sure how to answer. What use is he other than food when I'm angry, be nice.

"We are stationed together and together we shall stay. Your mentor here seems capable of aiding you in control and to be honest, your control loss potential may be useful if things get...complicated." V sounds relaxed but I could swear I hear a hint of jealousy toward Shirai in his tone. Said 'wolf' remained silent at my feet as we traveled.

Once we reach the stop point for Nico and file out of the truck Morrison gives one last heads up.

"Ya gotta pass a trashed market from the Urizen problem to get to the mansion. Take the east exit of the market and head straight, you'll see yer target pretty quick from there." And with that we head off.

"Errr V, try to NOT get us shot into a hole in the ground this time please!" Griffon says as he lands on V's shoulder. I cock an eyebrow, then realise which market we were walking through.

"Oh yeah this is where that damn cockroach was. Remember Mel the giant metal thing." Nero clicks as he recalls and so do I. That thing had been a pain to take down and I shudder at the thought of V disappearing into a hole in the ground.

"At least there's no chance of Nhedhog." I say, retching at the plain thought of those icky offspring of his, let alone the nasty parasite himself.

"Hmmm, that was the first time I'd wanted to kiss you after a battle" V all but whispers in my ear as we exit the market and head up the small path to the mansion. I blush and swat him as he chuckles quietly. Morrison hadn't been kidding, it really was a short walk.

"Oh come ON!" Dante yelled from ahead of us. Without thinking Nero, V and I ran ahead to catch up. Man we fell pretty far behind.

Reaching the gate of the mansion we were welcomed with a horde of demons. All of us huff in irritation, then an idea forms and I say the spell I'd used on the defeated enemies I'd had earlier. Once again they fluttered away in the wind as flecks of what could easily be mistaken for glitter.

"Ta-da" all I say as the others stare. "Job people, remember, SCRAM!" I whisper shout as they all lose their dazes and head to their designated spots.

V and I run the length of the house, V using shadow as transport to save on energy as he always did and we head around the right side to the western entrance.

Slowly we open the door and creep inside. We don't face any opposition as we move to the main hall and take our places, ready and waiting for the signal from the others.

The portal is supposed to open in the study which is directly above the main entrance. The sons of Sparda are headed there to check everything out. Once the portal lines begin to appear, you and your lover shirai! V will be summoned upstairs if they are unable to defeat the demon as it passes through the portal.

V and I nod at each other, he then dawns that sexy half smile of his and before I know it, he has me pinned to the wall beneath the stairs, one arm around my waist and the other holding himself up with his cane.

"V, no, no no no! We have work ...to...mmm" why did I even bother? I sigh inwardly as V kisses me gently. I'd known he'd wanted to be alone again once he'd found out everything but I hadn't expected him to do it until after the mission.

I grasp for the door frame to the room we'd come through for support as he begin to kiss and bite my neck.

This is familiar.

"YO MEL, V GET UP HERE NOW" Dante and Vergil shout in unison.

"Five minutes, that is all I ask" V growls as we bolt up the stairs two at a time, Griffon cackling at his comment and in anticipation for the fight. Shadow and Shirai run on either flank. We turn the corner to come back on ourselves and run straight into Dante.

"Oh SHIT!"
