𝐓he door unlocked, signaling that they could finally access the rooftop. "Guys!" On-jo called out to the group. "The door's unlocked!" The others, hearing her words, felt a sense of hope wash over them.
Su-hyeok and Cheong-san struggled against a horde of zombies Meanwhile, Na-hee sat on the ground, her hands trembling from her earlier encounter with Gwi-nam. The memory of his menacing presence lingered in her mind, making her feel vulnerable and exposed. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, but the fear still coursed through her veins.
*Gwi-nam's going after me.* Na-hee thought to herself, she never felt scared of Gwi-nam at all, but something inside of her keeps telling her to run fast away from him.
Nam-ra stayed by her side, her face filled with worry and concern for Na-hee. "Na-hee, are you okay?" she asked, panicked as she helped the poor girl up. Na-hee nodded, although her teary eyes betrayed her. With urgency, Nam-ra and Na-hee rushed to the rooftop, the two boys following close behind.
They slammed the door shut behind them. The wind whipped through their hair as a helicopter hovered above. They waved their arms frantically, hoping to catch its attention, their voices tinged with urgency and desperation.
Na-hee, feeling the strain of the moment, leaned against the door behind her, her head throbbing and her ears ringing from the chaos.
Na-hee stared into nothingness, her hands still shaky from her earlier encounter with Gwi-nam. She knew that Yoon Gwi-nam wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted, and that was her.
But as the helicopter began to pull away, a sinking feeling of despair settled in Na-hee's chest. She could no longer muster the strength to plead for help, watching helplessly as the their hope drifted further away.
The others desperately tried to call out to the helicopter, sobbing at the thought that they wouldn't be rescued. As the helicopter flew away, their hope faded once again. Hyo-ryung sobbed on the ground while On-jo comforted her. The others stood in silence, realizing they weren't going to be rescued.
Na-hee gazed at the helicopter as she lay on the ground, the door behind her. Cheong-san stood next to her, feeling hopeless as he watched the helicopter disappear into the distance, a sign that their chances for rescue were slipping away.
He looked down and saw Na-hee sitting on the ground, her eyes teary. Without thinking, he rushed over to hug her, wrapping her in a warm embrace.
"Are you okay, Na-hee?" he asked, worry on his face as she hugged him back tightly, seeking comfort. Cheong-san gently pulled back, his hands wiping away her tears with his thumb. The thought of Gwi-nam made him feel angry.
"I think so." she said quietly. "I was just shocked because of Gwi-nam. I thought I was going to die." Her words showed how scared she was, and it made Cheong-san want to protect her even more.
"I'm here, Na-hee. I'll keep you safe from him." he promised, his voice strong and comforting as he hugged her again, holding her close. In that moment, Na-hee felt safe in Cheong-san's arms.
Their interaction was interrupted by a loud pounding on the door behind her, causing the two to jump at the impact. The sound of pounding continued, and her eyes narrowed at the door, knowing exactly who it was.
The noise also caught the attention of the others, their faces showing clear signs of nervousness.
"Na-hee, get behind me." Cheong-san told her as he moved in front of her, anger boiling inside him.
"Open the goddamn door! Cheong-san, Na-hee, I can hear both of you!" Gwi-nam shouted angrily, his voice echoing through the rooftop. He pounded on the door even harder, causing panic to spread among the others.
Dae-su quickly grabbed a metal pipe from the ground, preparing for whatever might happen next.
Finally, the pounding stopped, indicating that Gwi-nam had given up trying to force the door open. "Shit." Na-hee muttered, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. She stared at Cheong-san in front of her, gratitude flooding her heart for his protective presence.
Yet, she knew deep down that Gwi-nam would come back.
"He's gone." Nam-ra said, her voice steady despite the tension that still hung in the air.
Slowly, the others began to relax, the fear that had gripped them easing from their bodies after the scare Gwi-nam had caused.
Su-hyeok turned to look at Nam-ra, confusion evident on his face. "Who's gone?" he asked uncertainly, glancing between her and the door.
"Gwi-nam." Nam-ra answered truthfully. "It's his smell, I can hear his breathing," she added, her senses heightened.
After some time, they managed to devise a plan to create an SOS sign on the rooftop. As everyone focused on gathering materials, Cheong-san pulled Su-hyeok aside for a private conversation. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm glow over the rooftop, and the urgency of their situation weighed heavily on them
"What happened? Didn't Gwi-nam fall from the fourth floor?" Cheong-san asked as he approached Su-hyeok for confirmation, his brow furrowed with concern.
The encounter with Gwi-nam had left him feeling shaken and anxious, making him overthink everything. He could see the fear in Na-hee's eyes, and it fueled his anger toward that bastard Yoon Gwi-nam.
Su-hyeok turned to look at Cheong-san. "Yeah, I threw him off." he answered honestly, but his voice lacked the confidence he wished it had.
"So how did he manage to survive?" Cheong-san pressed, his voice filled with anxiety, his mind racing with possibilities.
Su-hyeok sighed and stepped closer to Cheong-san, the weight of the situation pressing down on him. "Maybe he doesn't die. Maybe he comes back to life." he said, uncertainty creeping into his voice, his own fear evident.
"Did you really throw him off? Or were you just saying that?" Cheong-san retorted, frustration bubbling up inside him. He was about to walk away, but Su-hyeok stopped him.
"What are you saying? That I lied?" Su-hyeok shot back, his eyes narrowing.
Cheong-san let out a huff of disbelief. "If I were you, I would've made sure he died." he continued, his voice rising with anger.
"Because of him, Na-hee's life is becoming more dangerous." With that, Cheong-san turned and walked away, heading toward the others who were still trying to gather their composure.
Su-hyeok stared at Na-hee, who was helping the others build an SOS sign out of whatever materials they could find. He wished he could have protected her better, wishing he could shield her from the horrors that Gwi-nam brought into her.
Su-hyeok was becoming increasingly protective of Na-hee, determined to keep her safe at all costs. He often found himself glancing her way, ensuring she was out of harm's reach.
Remembering what Cheong-san had said in the music room, Su-hyeok felt a surge of something, he would do anything, even kill, to protect Na-hee. As he watched her smile with the others, a small smile crept onto his face.
She makes me crazy.
Wu-jin called out to the others, holding up a piece of scrap wood. "Hey, not that one! Grab something else!" the others quickly disagreed, leaving Wu-jin with a dumbfounded expression on his face.
"It's a little crooked." Na-hee uttered beside Joon-yeong, scratching her head as she surveyed the progress of the large SOS sign. The letters were uneven, and she knew they needed to make it more visible for the helicopters.
"How do you want it?" Joon-yeong asked her gently, nodding in agreement with her observation.
Na-hee pointed to one side of the sign. "Make that side larger and more balanced." she instructed, her brow furrowing in concentration.
Joon-yeong, who was supervising the construction of the SOS sign, nodded thoughtfully. With a reassuring smile, he gave Na-hee a thumbs, up, signaling that she was right.
"What does SOS mean?" Dae-su asked, swatting his hand to dust it off, his curiosity piqued.
"It's a distress signal." On-jo replied, looking directly at him, her tone matter-of-fact.
"I know that. But what does it stand for?" Dae-su pressed further, his brows knitting together in confusion.
"It doesn't stand for anything. SOS is just SOS." On-jo answered, her voice tinged with disbelief as she tried to clarify.
"That makes no sense." Dae-su said, frowning as he crossed his arms.
"That's just how it is. It doesn't mean anything." On-jo insisted, her patience wearing thin.
"Then... Speed of Save? Save?" Dae-su continued, attempting to come up with his own interpretation of what SOS could mean, his imagination running wild.
"Why did you ask if you're not going to believe me?" On-jo said to Dae-su, her tone laced with disbelief and frustration.
Dae-su turned back to her, a hint of disbelief in his voice. "Because I thought you'd know." he replied, shrugging slightly.
As time passed, the group decided it was best to start a fire since the sun was beginning to set, casting long shadows across the clearing. They gathered in a small area, working together to create a fire. One by one, they took turns scraping the wood to generate sparks, the tension in the air palpable.
"I'm done." On-jo announced, feeling fatigued after her attempts to start the fire. She wiped her brow, glancing at the others with a hint of frustration. The weight of their situation was starting to wear on her, but she remained hopeful that they would succeed.
"Already?" Dae-su asked, raising an eyebrow in surprise.
It was Joon-yeong's turn to try and start the fire. "You'll get tired if you keep that up. Slow down." Dae-su commented, watching him closely, his concern evident.
Wu-jin chimed in, "The fire won't start if he goes slowly."
Feeling the tension, Dae-su decided to lighten the mood. "Alright then, faster, faster! Come on, Joon-yeong, pick up the pace!" he cheered, but his encouragement only distracted Joon-yeong. In his haste, Joon-yeong's hands faltered, and he accidentally hurt himself.
"Hey, what happened? Is it cramps?" Dae-su asked, concern creeping into his voice.
"My hands... I can't do it." Joon-yeong replied, wincing in pain, his frustration evident.
"I'll do it, step back," Dae-su told him confidently as he stepped forward to try and start the fire as well.
"What the hell are you doing bro?"
"We should kill him"
Wu-jin then told Dae-su to step aside as he attempted to start the fire. "Hey, is that smoke?" Dae-su exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with excitement.
"Hey! Smoke! Smoke!" they cheered excitedly as Su-hyeok gently blew on it, his breath steady. "Did it work, Su-hyeok?" they asked, their anticipation building.
Su-hyeok lowered his head in disappointment. "Damn it." he muttered, indicating that it hadn't worked.
Na-hee let out a sigh and moved closer to Su-hyeok. "Let me try." she said confidently, reaching for the wood in her hands, determination shining in her eyes.
"You sure? Sit this one out, Na-hee." Su-hyeok told her, concern etched on his face, but Na-hee dismissed him with a wave of her hand.
"Yeah, Na-hee, girl power!" Dae-su cheered once more, trying to boost her confidence.
Nam-ra stepped closer to the group, noticing that Na-hee was trying to help them with the fire. She decided to lend a hand as well.
"Hey..." she muttered, but they were so focused on their task that they didn't hear her. Taking a step closer, she raised her voice.
"Hey!" The group turned their attention to her, pausing their efforts. "Just use this" Nam-ra said, lowering her hand to reveal a lighter. The group stared at it, dumbfounded.
"Well, I smoke sometimes." Nam-ra confessed, a hint of nonchalance in her voice, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
"You had that the whole time?" Wu-jin managed to say, his eyes wide as the group continued to stare at Nam-ra in disbelief.
"You don't want it?" Nam-ra asked, looking around at their reactions, her brow raised in confusion.
Na-hee stared at Nam-ra as she awkwardly took the lighter from her. "Thanks, Nam-ra" she said with a small smile, relief washing over her as she realized they might finally be able to start the fire.
The sun finally set, and the moon rose in its place, casting a silvery glow over the rooftop. They had successfully lit a fire, which became their only source of light for the night, flickering warmly against the encroaching darkness.
The group sat somewhat comfortably in a circle around the dancing flames, their faces illuminated by the soft light.
"Dae-su." Su-hyeok called out, breaking the quiet.
"Yeah?" Dae-su replied, glancing up from the fire, his expression a mix of curiosity and weariness.
"How was your audition?" Su-hyeok asked, genuinely curious, leaning in slightly.
"They said I need to lose weight" Dae-su scoffed, his gaze fixed on the fire as if it held all the answers to his frustrations.
Su-hyeok chuckled, a small smile spreading across his face. "Well, you're a good singer. Sing for us! I want to hear it." he encouraged, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
"Just forget it. I don't want to." Dae-su said, bringing his hand to his face in a bored manner, clearly not in the mood.
"I actually like the song." Joon-yeong admitted, looking at Dae-su with interest, trying to coax him into sharing.
"Is that so?" Dae-su paused, turning to meet Joon-yeong's gaze, a flicker of hope igniting in his eyes.
"Mhm! I like it." Joon-yeong continued, nodding earnestly. "Yeah, it's really nice. It will cheer us up."
Dae-su cleared his throat, glancing around at the group. Na-hee settled comfortably next to Su-hyeok and Wu-jin, her heart warmed by the fire.
♫"Let's go anywhere once this is over,"♬ Dae-su began to sing, his voice rising above the crackling flames. ♫"Once we're done studying 12 hours a day, once the annoying sounds are over,"♬ he continued.
This moment brought Na-hee a sense of peace amidst the unsettling situation.
♫"Let's go hand in hand, let's not run, let's not run, let's start walking slowly,"♬ he sang, and the others began to join in, creating a soothing melody that wrapped around them like a comforting blanket. The group appreciated this moment, though some felt a little down.
Na-hee found herself on the appreciating side, feeling a sense of calm wash over her. If it weren't for the zombie situation surrounding them and Yoon Gwi-nam lurking in the shadows, this moment would have been perfect. Her lips curved into a small smile as she watched the others sing along, their voices harmonizing beautifully.
Wu-jin looked around the group, his gaze fixed on Na-hee. He felt his lips curve into a smile as he watched her smile, but his expression slowly faltered as he noticed Joon-yeong also looking at her. It always seemed like he ruined the moment for him.
Wu-jin couldn't even explain the depth of his feelings for Na-hee from the moment they met, something about her captivated his heart. He was completely obsessed.
"It was such a nice song." Hyo-ryung admitted as the others began to add more wood to the fire, the flames crackling and popping in response.
"Didn't you say it sucked?" Dae-su replied, propping his face up with his hands for balance, a teasing grin on his lips.
"Well, now that I actually listened to it, I think it's kind of nice" Hyo-ryung said, a hint of sincerity in her voice, her cheeks slightly flushed from the warmth of the fire.
"That was encouraging, Dae-su" Gyeong-su chimed in, giving him a supportive nod, clearly impressed by his friend's talent.
"That made me feel better, thanks Dae-su." Na-hee tells Dae-su as they shared a smile.
Meanwhile, an awkward silence hung between On-jo and Nam-ra. "How long have you been smoking?" On-jo finally asked, her tone gentle, breaking the tension.
Nam-ra looked at her and replied, "Since eighth grade. I had no friends and a lot of stress back then." She spoke truthfully, her gaze drifting to the flickering flames, lost in her memories.
Na-hee listened intently to Nam-ra, feeling a pang of sympathy for her. It must have been hard for her to feel so alone.
"Did you ever need a friend, though?" On-jo asked again, her tone softening as she tried to connect.
"I'm not sure... I can't really tell." Nam-ra responded, her eyes still fixed on the fire, a hint of vulnerability in her voice.
A silence fell over the group, but On-jo broke it by speaking to Nam-ra again.
"You always put up a wall" she began. "You'd wear your headphones all day, and you never said anything. Wasn't it because you hated us?"
Everyone turned their attention to Nam-ra as they listened to the exchange. Nam-ra could feel their eyes on her, especially Na-hee's. "I never hated you guys. I just... didn't have any friends," Nam-ra admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Well..." Hyo-ryung started, hesitating for a moment. "I never really liked you" she confessed, her honesty hanging heavily in the air. A moment of silence followed. "I thought you didn't talk to us because you thought we were beneath you." Hyo-ryung finished, her expression a mix of regret and understanding.
"I kind of hated you too." Joon-yeong confessed, his voice low. "There were times I wished you would just disappear." he continued, feeling a pang of guilt with his admission.
"Aren't you two close? You were one of the top students." Ji-min remarked, raising an eyebrow.
"That's why I hated her. No matter how hard I worked, I was always second. But it's okay now." Joon-yeong said, his voice lowering as he reflected on his feelings.
"Hey, second is good too! I can't even make it past 20th, right?" Dae-su chimed in, trying to lighten the mood as he fist-bumped Su-hyeok, a playful grin on his face.
Hyo-ryung turned to Dae-su. "Hey, don't compare yourself to Joon-yeong." she told him firmly, her tone serious.
"Hey, I was just saying, why do you always get on my case whenever I say something?" Dae-su asked, a mix of curiosity and disbelief in his voice.
Dae-su's expression then shifted as he furrowed his brow. "Wait a second. Do you like me?" he suddenly asked Hyo-ryung, his eyes wide with surprise.
In response, Hyo-ryung slapped his arm playfully. "Shut up, you moron!" she told him, clearly annoyed but unable to hide a smile.
Na-hee laughed at their interactions, finding Hyo-ryung and Dae-su cute together. Their banter brought a lightness to the heavy atmosphere, reminding her that even in the darkest times, moments of joy could still shine through.
There was a moment of silence as each of them enjoyed each other's company, the warmth of the fire creating a cozy atmosphere. The flames continued to flicker, providing a comforting backdrop to their conversation.
"I don't really know what to say..." Nam-ra began, her voice soft yet sincere. "But I feel like I've made friends." She confessed with a small smile, her eyes shining with newfound warmth.
Na-hee couldn't help but smile back, whenever Nam-ra smiled, it was contagious, spreading a sense of joy among the group.
Dae-su turned his head toward Cheong-san, his eyes narrowing playfully. "How about you, Cheong-san? Who do you like?" Dae-su asked, wiggling his eyebrows mischievously, clearly enjoying the moment.
Cheong-san blinked repeatedly, taken aback by the sudden attention. "I-I like water, that's all." he replied nervously, his cheeks flushing slightly, especially since Na-hee was looking at him.
Dae-su shook his head in denial. "That's not what I meant! I meant, who do you like? Like, love," he clarified, making a heart shape with his hands, his expression exaggerated for comedic effect.
Su-hyeok felt his jaw clench, a mix of jealousy and something far worse bubbling beneath the surface. He couldn't help but wonder how Cheong-san would respond.
Cheong-san lowered his head, feeling the weight of their gazes on him and the crush he had kept hidden for so long. A silence hung in the air, thick with anticipation. He looked up, meeting Na-hee's eyes with a serious expression.
"I like Na-hee." he confessed, his voice steady but laced with vulnerability. "I like you..." he repeated, this time quieter, a hint of shyness evident on his face as he fidgeted with his hands.
Na-hee's eyes widened in surprise, taken aback by his confession. All this time, Cheong-san liked her? The realization sent her heart racing, a mix of excitement and confusion swirling within her. But wasn't Wu-jin the one she liked?
"I'm serious." Cheong-san told her, his eyes never leaving Na-hee's. Dae-su and a few others chuckled at the confession, while some felt a surge of jealousy.
"Since when?" Na-hee asked again, clearly struggling to believe it, especially as her heart raced and her face flushed with warmth.
Without hesitation, Cheong-san answered, "I knew I liked you when I was worried and kept thinking about you." He continued, his voice growing more earnest. "I've liked you for a long time now. You're really special to me, Na-hee. I hope you know that." He confessed, slowly smiling at her, which left Na-hee a blushing mess, her heart fluttering in her chest.
Dae-su chuckled as he playfully hit Cheong-san on the shoulder. "Dude, finally confessed with his whole heart!" he sang, his tone lighthearted, though the atmosphere was thick with tension. Others felt their jealousy rising, the dynamics of their group shifting in an instant.
Dae-su glanced at Wu-jin, who clearly had his jaw clenched, his expression a mix of disbelief and frustration. Realizing the weight of the moment, Dae-su quickly shut his mouth, the playful mood fading slightly.
He then glanced at Joon-yeong, who could be seen glaring at Cheong-san, his eyes narrowed in annoyance. *DAMN, Joon-yeong too!? Damn.* Dae-su thought to himself, feeling the tension in the air as the group navigated this unexpected tension.
Then he glanced beside him, Gyeong-su, who was staring right into Cheong-san's soul. *oh, of course Gyeong-su too, it was obvious since the beginning bro.*
Clearly, On-jo wasn't fond of this situation. With a huff of frustration, she made her way away from the group, seeking refuge in a corner of the rooftop, her jealousy palpable.
The others watched her with curiosity as she grumpily moved to the edge, her arms crossed tightly over her chest, a frown etched on her face.
Cheong-san and Su-hyeok exchanged glances, both understanding what was bothering On-jo. Cheong-san couldn't help but feel a sense of pride swell within him for finally confessing his feelings to Na-hee
"What's gotten into her?" Dae-su asked, shrugging his shoulders, his tone light but laced with concern as he glanced at On-jo's retreating figure.
"Let's give On-jo some space for now" Hyo-ryung suggested, her voice softening as she watched their friend sulk. She understood that sometimes, people needed time to process their emotions.
Na-hee stared at On-jo, her heart heavy with understanding. She knew exactly what was bothering her friend, it was Cheong-san's confession of love for her.
The memory of Cheong-san telling her that On-jo liked her as well lingered in her mind, creating a whirlwind of emotions within her. Now, Na-hee found herself spinning in confusion, torn between her feelings for Wu-jin and the unexpected feelings from Cheong-san.
Na-yeon slowly opened the door to the supplies room and looked around to see if there were any zombies nearby. The school was filled with darkness, and she carefully walked out of the room, staring down the hallway. Her eyes were teary from crying, she knew Na-hee and the others were here, but she didn't reveal herself to them.
As she gazed around, her eyes landed on a camera on the ground. She slowly walked toward it, making sure her footsteps wouldn't be heard by the zombies.
Kneeling down, she reached for the camera. Just as she opened it, she heard growls behind her. She turned around and saw a zombie rushing toward her. In a panic, she ran back into the supplies room, shutting the door behind her, the camera still in hand.
Letting out a sigh of relief, she made her way into a corner, feeling scared. The darkness around her loomed heavily, and she felt cold and alone.
Na-yeon took a deep breath and opened the camera. She saw the faces of the others, including Na-hee, and the corners of her lips curled into a small smile. She then opened the video of Na-hee first.
Na-hee looked at the camera, her smile slowy brightening though, you could still see the tiredness in her eyes. "I don't know if we're going to be rescued." Na-hee confessed, her voice lowering.
"But, what i can say is that, I'm really scared. I don't know what to do. But i have friends that i could still rely too. Hopefully nothing would change." Na-hee continued, she slowy smiled again, her eyes blinking rapidly to stop the tears from flowing.
"Na-yeon, if you're alive, please stay safe. Im sorry."
The video then ended, and Na-yeon slowly lowered the camera onto her lap, feeling the urge to cry again. She really missed Na-hee, if only she weren't blinded by revenge.
Na-yeon wiped her tears as she looked at Na-hee again, hoping she was safe.
Suddenly, she stopped watching the videos. Hadn't she done this before? Na-yeon looked around again, and yes, she was definitely here before. Her brow furrowed as she tried to recall the memories. Some of them were blurry, but she knew for certain that she shouldn't go out of this room, not tonight at least.
Because she recalls and understood the outcome.
Instead, she needed to think of a plan, a plan to warn Na-hee.
Suddenly, Joon-yeong felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see Wu-jin standing there, a serious expression on his face. "We need to talk" Wu-jin whispered to him, gesturing for Joon-yeong to follow him as they excused themselves from the group.
"What is it, Wu-jin?" Joon-yeong raised an eyebrow at the boy in front of him, their voices low as they moved farther away from the others, ensuring no one could overhear their conversation.
"I know you like Na-hee." Wu-jin stated bluntly, cutting straight to the point.
"So what? Do you feel threatened?" Joon-yeong retorted, a huff escaping him as he crossed his arms defensively, trying to maintain his composure.
"Don't think you're slick. I saw you with Na-hee in the science lab. Did you kiss her, unintentional or intentional?" Wu-jin stepped closer, his intensity palpable as he locked eyes with Joon-yeong.
"Is that what this is about?" Joon-yeong shot back, his tone incredulous. Wu-jin stared at him, unyielding.
"So what if it was intentional?" Joon-yeong challenged, his arms crossed tighter, trying to project confidence despite the tension in the air.
Wu-jin glared at him, his expression darkening. "Don't flirt with what's mine. I'll kill you." he warned, his voice low and threatening, the weight of his words hanging heavily between them.
It was a dangerous game they were playing, and the stakes had never felt higher.
There was a moment of tense silence. A slight noise caught Na-hee's attention, and instinctively, she looked up in On-jo's direction, her heart pounding in her chest.
Suddenly, Gwi-nam leaped onto the rooftop, his presence threatening as he zeroed in on On-jo. The atmosphere shifted instantly, and everyone quickly became alarmed, standing in a mix of anxiety and nervousness at his sudden entrance.
"Oh, fuck." Na-hee uttered, her voice shaky as she stood up, adrenaline coursing through her veins.
They all knew the trouble they were about to face. Gwi-nam's creepy smirk sent chills down their spines, making everyone feel uneasy and unsafe. It was a smile that Na-hee had always hated, chaos.
As Gwi-nam looked at them, Na-hee could see the malice glinting in his eyes, a predatory gleam that sent a wave of dread through her.
Na-hee's eyes widened as she realized that On-jo was in danger. The shock coursed through her core, leaving her momentarily frozen. She felt a surge of protectiveness rise within her, and instinctively, she took a step forward but Cheong-san stopped her.
On-jo stood up, gasping as she instinctively moved away from Gwi-nam, but he was quicker. He grabbed her face, and On-jo struggled against his grip, fear evident in her wide eyes.
Na-hee felt her heart drop, her eyes widening in terror for her friend. The sight of Gwi-nam's cruel hold on On-jo made her stomach churn.
"ON-JO!" Na-hee yelled in panic, her voice piercing through the tense atmosphere like a siren.
Gwi-nam's gaze shifted to Na-hee, his eyes locking onto hers with a predatory intensity that sent shivers down her spine. A sinister smirk spread across his face as he shoved On-jo to the ground, leaving her shaken and scared.
"Na-hee, what are you doing?" Cheong-san said urgently, gripping onto Na-hee's arm to hold her back.
"Saving On-jo." she stated firmly, determination shining in her eyes despite the fear coursing through her. She couldn't just stand by while her friend was in danger, she had to act.
Gwi-nam is going to have to get through her first.
