Chapter 77

We got to the car as soon as possible. I was shaking as I started the engine. Then I drive fast, really quick. Not caring whether I bump someone. I don't know. I'm crazy right? I heard my name being yelled as I drove leaving the school. But I just don't care. As long as Sonic's with me. I can feel my heart beating fast, it's like going to come out to my chest any time

"Shadow..."Sonic said in a shaky voice

He took my hand and caressed it. My heart started to beat normal again

"Take a deep breath,"He said

I did as what he told me

"Calm down"

My lips twitched

I heard him sighed

"I know, I'm not helping. I'm sorry. But Shadow, as what we promise, we're both going to be together, I promise you that. No matter where. Promise"He said with a reassuring smile

I forced myself to smile back

"Thank you..."was all I said

"Let's just stay in a hotel. Then I'll ask the others how things are going on there. I'm sure, father will follow us of course. Call your mom about this too. They'll get worried"I instructed

He nodded

The tension of the atmosphere slowly began to fade. But I was still anxious, I kept looking at the side mirror, to see if they're following us. I started to lessen the speed I was driving before, as what Sonic told me too

"We're finally this far, let's find a hotel"said Sonic, after what it felt like I was forever driving

I scanned my eyes

"There, it looks fine"

"Okay. Le-"

Before Sonic could continue, the thunder roared from the sky, and it started to rain

"Shit"I muttered

"Argh! It took me too long to park my damn car!"I said as I run into the entrance covering my head

"Well"I sighed before looking around

Not much of a people is here. They can be counted by hands. I studied everything around me. It was okay here. I approached the cashier and started talking and payed for our room. Our money was enough for it. She gave our keys and we started walking away

"Shadow, Mephiles is calling!"Sonic rushed into me

He quickly handed me the phone

"Hello?"I started

"Shadow! Phew! Thank goodness. It took you forever to answer you know. Anyway... Things... Things are looking bad over here, of course. Your father's looking at you EVERYWHERE. Ever since you leaved. Thankfully they didn't catch up to you after you left. I told Sonic's parents about it. They're asking if they can know your location. And they know about too that uncle's following the both of you"

"We're on a hotel now. It's... Wait. Lifeline Hotel...?"I was unsure for moment, I couldn't understand Sonic's gesture he was giving me

"Lifeline hotel? Okay. And... Tails and Knuckles, we're all worried sick. Be safe there, Shadow. We're all on this together. It's still unsure if we can go. Uncle might be monitoring us secretly"

"By the way, by any chance. Did... Did you figured out who, you know. Show all those clips and shit"

I asked, then walking again to our room

"Yeah. I wasn't surprised. ALL of that was Fiona. She wants to ruin everything on the both of you, tsk tsk"

My lips twitched and my eyes rolled in irritation just the second I remembered her face when she was mentioned

"Okay. I'm gonna hung up. Uncle might caught me. See you, whenever the day will, keep safe"

"Thanks. See you too"

I opened the door and looked at the room. I removed my shoes and closed the door. Sonic sat on the bed and closed his eyes

"You need to regain energy after all that tension and bulls hit we've been through. Rest. Don't worry about me. I'll watch over you. You really should sleep"

I said whilst looking at his tired and sad eyes. Despite that, he gave me a smile

"No need to watch over me Shadow. You should be the one resting. Besides, you're the one who had done many things"He smiled

"Heh, I should've brought the swear jar. But I'll get that dollar on the jar not too soon"He grinned

"Ahhh shi.... Shoot. I forgot"I facepalm

He lay on the bed and took of his shoes. He looked at his phone and out it the desk beside him. I watched him as he drifted into sleep. I smiled. I looked at the window. It's still raining cats and dogs. Bad weather at a bad time eh?

"Don't worry, Sonic. Not too soon, we'll be fine. We'll have nothing to worry about after this. We can live peacefully" I muttered as I kiss his forehead and slept with him
