The village at the mountain "1"

Ryu quickened her pace under the rain, Up to now, the sky had been dark in the morning .As the sun continued to rise . the road ahead of her became much cleared. The vegetation got denser as she run towards the mountains. Thunder rumbled again and cold drops of rain gnawed on her cheek , not bothered by the weather, even when puddles of water gathered on the road, she kicked the ground faster splashing mud and water all behind her. Her mind and thoughts were somewhere else. The story of the old lady made rethink of the past few years of her life.

She picked up pace , as if trying to catch the shadow of a white haired boy who wasn't really there.

Soon she arrived to the forest at the mountain base without realizing she has been running for couple of hours. Then the rainfall became more intense , Ryu took cover under an old oak tree , she open the bag she brought with her and ate the fruit the old innkeeper prepared for her. A wall of rain moved over the oak and the drops were drumming against the canopy. So much rain was falling that the sound blurred into one long, whirring noise. Eventually, the noise lessened and the drops faded into a musical chime. The sun came out again, casting slanted beams of light across the path that cut through the forest up into the mountain." Its finally stopped" as she looked up to the sun finally showing from behind the pillows of clouds.

The journey afterward was peaceful for Ryu . until she found a weird tracks on the road.

" this isn't a boar track" she narrowed her eyes , the track was new , with claws at the end of the footprints and there were many of them

"Dire wolfs" finally she recognized it. She looked around and closed her eyes , listening to sounds in the forest. Droplets of moisture dropped from the leaves , birds singed in the trees ,yet not far away , a rhythmic sound of something running on the ground and it was get closer and higher , the pack was running towards her as they picked her smell.

" they are coming " Ryu smiled unconsciously behind her mask , her body was etching for a fight. To release the frustration built up for so long. She tightened the grip around her wooden sword as the wolf howled not far away from her , announcing their attack on new prey. Yet they never knew they are trying to bite more than what they can chew.

Soon Ryu disappeared , leaving only blur to the hopeless wolfs who arrived first.

The battle didn't last long , and soon Ryu was cleaning her sword , she managed to gather some of the dire wolfs fangs and claws to sell them later and left the bodies on a clear spot.

At last some signs of civilization entered her line of sight as she got out of the forest. A wooden wall . and a small gate was protecting a village with dozens of houses. Outside it there was many fields newly plowed. For a moment Ryu was surprised by the amount of efforts people invested this far away into the mountains .

She stepped forward towards  the town gate .with every step she drew the attention of more people working in the field as they stopped their work and looked at her , some waved  to her  as a greeting .as she grew closer she heard the sound of kids playing around , probably because of the rain they haven't been able to play all morning and now was their time.

Soon a young man came running from the gate , his clothes were telling that he was some sort of a guard with a helmet and a leather armor and a spear on his hand.However the way he carried himself told the opposite

" excuse me miss , are you the adventurer sent from the city ?" the young guard asked.

Ryu shook her head :" no , sorry to disappoint you , but I am just a travelling adventurer ,I am looking for someone ,and people in the city sent me your way "

The young man sighed :" so unfortunate , i thought we finally gonna get rid of those wolves " 

Ryu :" if you are talking about the pack of dire Wolves , then i ve spotted one down in the forest, they tried to attack me .i think they wont be bothering you again , you can sent some of your people to gather their remains for furr if you want "

the man face lit up in joy to hear that their nightmare is finally over and on top of that , it was done for free "really! thank you so much miss adventurer ,we ve been suffering for a while because of them! i ll send some guys soon , please follow me , people will be happy to hear about this news and to have you in our village! " the man turned and walked back swiftly , his mood turned  cheerful as he kept running to tell the news to the town folks 

Ryu smiled and walked forward :" fine "
