Chapter 66
23:23, 19 March 2015Lynette breathes heavily in her sleep, squeezing my hand. I gently shake her shoulder. "baby girl, wake up." I say tiredly.
She whimpers softly as she opens her eyes. "Ross," she mumbles as she snuggles closer to me.
I hold her tightly as she begins crying. "You're okay, baby. I got you," I whisper in her ear. She looks up with tear stained cheeks. I push some hair away from her face. "You're okay," I repeat as I kiss her forehead.
"Feel this," she whispers as she grabs my hand, placing it on her stomach.
I widen my eyes. "they didn't say anything about you being pregnant," I slightly growl.
"stop," she whines, flipping over with her back to me.
I wrap my arm around her. "I'm sorry, babe."
"It's not my fault!" She cries.
I nod, pressing my lips to her neck. "are you?" I ask gently.
She freezes, hiccuping. "N-no," she sighs.
I lay her on her back. "Okay, baby. Go back to sleep and we'll talk in the morning," I stroke her cheek lightly. She nods, closing her eyes. I lay down, pulling her into my chest. She entwines our legs before we drift off to sleep. ~ I wake up the next morning, alone. I hear small sobs coming from the direction of the bathroom. I throw the covers off myself before walking to the door. I knock quietly. "Baby, can I come in?" I ask softly. She doesn't answer so I walk in. "Oh my god!" I panic as I kneel next to the tub. "Are you okay?" I slightly yell as blood drips from her forehead. She shakes her head slowly. "What happened?"
"I-I came in he-here because I was nauseous. I t-tripped and hit-hit my head on the toilet. So I quickly got into the bath, t-to calm my-myself," she stutters.
I get my hand wet and wipe away the blood as she sobs. "You're going to be okay, babe. I promise," I assure her. Next, I wipe away her tears. "You want to get out?" She shakes her head and leans it on my arm. "You want me to get in?" She nods, pulling me closer to her. I tug my arm away from her and slide off my boxers. I sit down in the hot water. "Fuck, Lynn. This is hot," I say as I pull her close to me.
She snuggles into my chest, holding her stomach. "I was planning on getting out before you woke up," she says quietly.
I run my hand up and down her thigh. "Its alright as long as you're comfortable," I kiss her head. she shifts around, whimpering every time she moves. "Are you sure you don't want to get out and lie down? I can go get Romeo while you go back to sleep," I whisper.
She shrugs. "Will you lay with me for a little bit?" She asks with pleading eyes.
I nod, helping her out of the tub. She limps back into our room. I sit her on the bed, getting out her undergarments. I help her slide them on. We lay on the bed until she falls asleep. I quietly get up, hearing a whimper as I get dressed. I stand in the doorway for a few seconds, listening to hear if she whimpers again. She doesn't so I take that as my que to leave. "Hey, mom," I say as I enter her house.
She smiles from the table as she feeds my son. "Hey, sweetie. Where's Lynn?" She asks, her face dropping.
I sit at the table with them. "Sleeping, she fell and hit her head this morning," I sigh as I run my fingers through my hair.
My mom gasps. "Is she alright? Do you need me to keep him longer?" She asks worryingly.
I shake my head. "She's going to be okay, I hope. She might have stomach cancer," I whisper the last part.
"Might?" My dad questions as he comes into the room.
I nod, stuffing my head in my hands. "It runs in her family," I say as a few tears escape my eyes. "I CAN'T LOSE HER!" I yell as I stand up and begin pacing.
Romeo stares at me, a waffle in his fist. "Dada?" He reaches for me.
I lift him up, holding him in my arms. "Hey, bud. Did you have fun?" I ask after I calm down.
He nods. "Ya.. momma?" He asks simply.
I sigh deeply. "Momma's sick, but we can go home if you want," I say as I set him down. I talk to my parents for a little while more before we leave. In the car, Lynn calls me. "Hey, babe! Are you feeling any better?" I ask as I put it on speaker.
"I feel worse," she whispers into the phone.
"Why, baby? What's wrong?"
"Dizzy, achey, room. Getting. Darker." I hear shuffling, her phone dropping.
I hang up and race home. I carry Romeo upstairs with me, setting him in his play pen. "Lynn, baby!" I yell.
She slowly opens her eyes. "H-he's here, Ross," she mumbles.
I furrow my eyebrows. "Who, Lynnie? What's going on?" I ask as she sits up.
"Danny. He has Romeo and Lyddie," she whispers.
I shake my head. "Babe, Danny got executed a few months ago. It was a dream," I caress her cheek.
She looks into my eyes, almost seeming betrayed. "I-It was?" Her gaze travels to Romeo. "Okay," she sighs as she lays back down.
I get the baby and lay down with her. Romeo lays on my chest, Lynn buries her face in my neck as I pull her leg across my waist. I firmly press my lips to her forehead. "I love you," I whisper.
"Momma, dada, wove!" Romeo exclaims before closing his eyes.
Lynn and I both laugh. "I love you guys too," she sighs deeply before we all fall asleep.
