Chapter VII
02:09, 20 March 2017After I reached the third floor. I got out and walked down to the room.
I arrived at the room and opened the with the spare keys.
"Hey Mells? I'm back" I called out to the blonde.
Putting the bag of chocolates in the kitchen. I searched around the apartment to find him on the couch, fast asleep.
I looked down at his sleeping form and walked over to him.
I crouched down so I was face to face with him and brushed his bangs out of his face.
Despite his scar, he is still the same Mello I grew up with.
The same Mello I looked up to.
The same Mello I fell in love with.
My eyes met with sky blue ones, a moment of silence lingered before I broke it.
"M-Mello! S-sorry! I-I uhhh...." I couldn't think up an excuse.
"It's fine, I must have dozed off" he said, sitting up from the couch.
"So where did you go anyway?" He asked.
"Oh, I just went out to a 7/11 to get a few things" I explained.
Mello looked over to the kitchen counter to see the 7/11 bag, curious. He got up and went over and opened the bad to find a dozen chocolate bars.
"You only got chocolate bars?" He asked.
"Yeah... well, I though it would help you calm down, but Matt told me he had a talk with you." I explaind.
Mello's face went an instant red.
"W-what did Matt tell you?" He asked flustered.
"That you haven't been getting much sleep since the accident at the old hideout" I suddenly turned serious, which was unusual for me. Mello caught on to my sudden mood change.
"Yeah... because I... sleeping with bandages on is uncomfortable." He began to sweat.
"Mello, I know you've been in pain, you don't have to act tough" I scolded him like he was a little kid.
"Oh yeah? And you haven't been keeping something important from me?" he questioned.
"What are you talking about?" I hissed.
"You called Near, I know you did!" He yelled.
"You were on the brink of death! I didn't have a choice!" I yelled back.
"I'd rather die than let that sheep help me!" Mello yelled, pushing me back slightly.
"Don't say that!" I yelled.
In an instant, Mello picked up a glass that was beside his hand and swung it at me, but I managed to swerve away in time and the glass smashed as it collided with the wall behind me.
I look at him in shock, trying to comprehend what just happened.
Mello's breathing was heavy, chest heaving, the look in his eyes was terrifying.
I felt tears roll down my face and I began to shake lightly.
Never in my life had I been this terrified of Mello.
Mello's gaze lightened at my vulnerable state and walked up to me slowly.
What I did not expect was for Mello to bring me into his embrace.
"Shhh shhh, it's okay... I'm sorry" he said as he stroked my head, trying to calm me down.
My cheeks turned red as I rested my head on his chest, listening to his quickened heartbeat.
He rocked me slightly and whispered apologies to me soothingly, like a lullaby.
"Mello..." I sniffled.
"I-I didn't mean to loose my temper like that... but that's no excuse" he said.
"It's okay Mello... I forgive you" I said.
"(Y/n), I.... I love you" he said. Almost giving me a heart attack (no pun intended).
I pulled away from the hug and look deep into his eyes.
"Ever since we were kids... I liked you... and I-" but before he could finish, I wrapped my arms around his neck again and leaned forward to connect my lips to his.
It was an odd feeling, but addicting, the taste of chocolate was on his lips, no surprise.
Before the blonde could react, I pulled away and snuggled into his chest.
"I love you too, Mells" I giggled.
*time skip*
Matt came home early that Saturday night, opening the door, he came in and called out.
"Hey Mells? (Y/n)? You guys home?" Nobody responded.
Matt walked past the couch but looked back at the couch to see his best friends.
Mello was asleep with his arms wrapped around (y/n)'s waist and (y/n) had her head on the blonde's chest. Both fully clothed.
"Aww how cute, looked like one of them finally confessed" he cooed while walking back to his room to go to sleep.
