Chapter 14: Unexpected Discovery of Hearts ( Part 1 )

A/n: Before this original episode begins, I'm letting you know now that's it takes place before Snow Way Out. Anyway, I hope you like the chapter!

Saga was slowly working on making the new egg nursery on the grounds near the shore of where Darla was as the ship was now docked at the dragon proof metal docks Saga had made that morning, as the alchemist was now finishing with making the skeleton of the structure as Tesla and the baby furies watched them from the ship. Indigo then roared happily when she saw Astrid and Hiccup flying towards them on Stormfly and Toothless, she then turned to Tesla with a cute excited smile, and the flightmare simply nods her head at the baby dragon with a smile. Indigo then excitedly jumped out of the ship, onto the metal docks, and bolted towards the two dragon riders and their dragons as soon as they landed by the alchemist as she had finished hammering down a piece of wood into place and was about to make the outside wall. There was a table set up in front of the structure, with various tools, both one that the two riders recognized and ones that the two riders believed the alchemist made, and the two riders saw that the alchemist had already set up the door of the nursery.

Saga: ( to Hiccup and Astrid, with a smile: ) Hey, guys! How-

Indigo then interrupted Saga as the baby night fury jumped to Hiccup and knocked him down to the ground, making Astrid, Saga, and the older dragons laugh.

Hiccup: ( laughs ) ( holds up Indigo ) Hey, Indigo, did ya miss me?

Saga then helped Hiccup back up and Hiccup placed Indigo back on the ground, and the baby night fury then jumped onto Toothless.

Saga: ( to Hiccup: ) Looks like you and Toothless are Indigo's favorites on the island. ( Chuckles )

Astrid: ( honestly: ) Better them than Ruffnut and Tuffnut.

Hiccup: Heh, yeah. So, Saga, is this... ( Gestures to the wooden structure skeleton in front of them )...what you have been working on these past few weeks?

Saga: Yep. It's going to be the new nursery! We can't keep the eggs and Tesla's nest in Darla forever, especially if we are going to have more possible run ins with Ryker and the hunters in the future.

Astrid: And you didn't ask us or the group for help because....

Saga: ( honestly: ) The twins will probably end up destroying it before it's even built...

Astrid: Mostly definitely.

As the two riders and Alchemist talked, Stormfly lowered her head to Indigo, and the baby night fury quickly greeted the Nadder by cutely nuzzling the nadder's cheek.

Saga: ...,Snotlout's arrogance will most likely get in the way and he has kinda been avoiding me since I threatened him after learning what the word " babe " meant,...

Hiccup: ( nervously rubs the back of his neck ) Yeah...

Saga: ...I didn't know where Fishlegs is, and I didn't want to bother you two with something I could handle by myself.

The two riders then watched as Saga calmly walked to a pile of scraps of dragon proof metal that the alchemist had gathered from taking apart the dragon cages and had somehow flatten into metal sheets. Saga was humming something as she grabbed a glass bottle of strange liquid from her tool table and picked up one of the metal sheets before she went to the structure skeleton.

Hiccup: Saga, you wouldn't have been bothering us at all. I'm sure there's something we could help you with.

Saga turned her head to the two riders and looked at them blankly for a few seconds, before smiling at them.

Saga: Okay! Astrid, you can look over the sketch of the structure design, if you want to import any ideas of how to fortify the nursery from the outside, while Hiccup and I work together to make the outer wall. Stormfly and Toothless can help Tesla watch over the baby furies while we work.

Astrid walked to the table to look at Saga's design for the nursery while Saga had Hiccup hold the metal sheet of dragon proof metal against the structure's wooden skeleton as the alchemist poured a few drops of the liquid in the bottle she was holding, onto the metal sheet and the wood, the liquid then harden itself and mended the two materials together, surprising Hiccup.

Hiccup: How-

Saga: ( to Hiccup, with a smile without looking at him: ) One of the key ingredients of this mixture is liquefied Death song amber. I use this mixture to put together most of the things I have made since I created it. Now, keep putting the sheets against the outside of the skeleton, and I'll mend it all together.

While Saga and Hiccup were making the outer wall, Astrid was looking at the structure design for the nursery with a impressed expression at the defense systems the alchemist was planning on putting inside the building in order to protect Tesla, the eggs, and the baby furies from hunters while they were inside the building.

Astrid: ( silently, to herself: ) Note to self, have Saga teach me how to make some of these traps.

Astrid then glanced up from the designs to see Saga was talking as she and Hiccup were making the outer wall of the structure.

Saga: ...and I shortly regret slipping the guy the truth serum into his drink at that bar, because after he told me what I wanted to know, he just wouldn't stop telling the truth to whoever that talked to him, and it got to the point that when I left the bar during a bar fight, and according to my calculations there's a 99.9 percent chance that guy died in that bar because he told the truth to the wrong guy. Hence why I only put the serum into cookies, because baking the serum into the cookies shortens the time on how long the serum's effects last.

Hiccup: Why did you create a truth serum in the first place?

Saga: I honestly don't remember, but it helps me get information from the hunters without actually harming the person. If you haven't noticed, I don't usually fight a lot. I only actually fight if necessary.

Tesla can be seen flying to Stormfly, Toothless, and Indigo with the other baby furies on her back, the baby furies quickly began playing with each other while the older dragons watched over them.

Astrid: Where did you even get the ideas for half of these traps, Saga? Not to be rude, but they seem really complicated and complex.

Saga: ( honestly, as she and Hiccup puts up another metal sheet and mended it to the wooden skeleton: ) Oh, I've dreamed up about half of them, like most of my inventions.

Hiccup: And I'm guessing that some of them doesn't come out like you dream it?

Saga: ( honestly, with a smile: ) Oh, of course not. I've hade plenty of failed experiments, but it never stopped me from continuing my experiments. I mean, I'm a failure.

Hiccup and Astrid quickly stopped what they were doing and looked at the alchemist when they heard her call herself a failure. Hiccup and Saga, were surprisingly halfway done with the outer wall of the structure.

Hiccup: ( to Saga: ) You are not a-

Saga shushes Hiccup, before she began using the liquid mixture to mend the metal sheets to the wooden skeleton.

Saga: But it doesn't stop me from making my inventions or my creations to make my dragons' lives better and safer, including the furies that have yet to come into this world or the ones I haven't rescued yet.

Saga didn't seem to have noticed that as she said this, Astrid and Hiccup looked awestruck at her, and she she looked at them, she didn't seem to notice how both of their faces had turned red from meeting her gaze.

Saga: Now, let's get as much work done as possible before the sun goes down. Tuff is somewhat scared of the dark.

Tuff huffs and grumpily grumbles in protest to Saga's statement, Ruff was playing with Indigo gently while the other male baby furies were rough housing each other.

Saga: ( to Tuff: ) Tuff, honey, there's nothing to be ashamed of being scared of the dark. So, don't give me those little grumpy grumbles.

Astrid and Hiccup couldn't help but laugh when the little baby night fury let out a grumpy huff in response before he went back to playing with the other baby furies again.
