Chapter 11

Lucy's P.O.V.

Happy and I were laughing so hard we had to stop several times on our way to the guild hall. We'd did the job in no time flat, and had spent the next day on the train cracking jokes. Half of it was things that shouldn't be that funny, but was for some reason. However, our laughter stopped when we walked in and saw Natsu standing there, arms crossed, looking like he was going commando. Immediately, his arms were around Happy and I. I giggled as my face landed burrowed in his chest, but inhaled his smell and sighed, hugging him back.

"Don't you ever run off like that again, Lucy!" Natsu murmured, pressing his face into my neck. I patted his back, and tried to move backward, only to be crushed to him tighter. Happy wriggled free, and looked at me, his eyes asking me if I needed help. I just shook my head and Happy flew off. I felt my face becoming flushed as I realized the whole guild was of course watching our little scene.

"Erm... Natsu... everyone's staring-" My mate pulled back, grinned at my reaction to the attention, and cupped my cheek with his hand.

"Then let's give them a reason to stare," his lips crashed into mine, and despite how embarrassed I was to know everyone was watching our exchange, I kissed back softly for a minute or two before pulling away. This earned us more cooing, and as you can guess Natsu just continued to grin like an idiot. We interlaced our hands and fingers, before I was able to finally greet the guild.

"Welcome back!" They said as a whole. I smiled.

"Glad to be back," I noticed something- someone was missing- Erza. "Where's Erza?" I asked looking over at Natsu, who smirked.

"Jellal showed up at the guild after you left and asked her out on a date for today," I shrieked happily, earning a giggle from Natsu- yes, you heard me right. Natsu giggles. It's cute, weird, and adorkable all at the same time.

Natsu continued, "which brings me to what I wanted to ask you," I raised my eyebrows, but remained silent.

"Yeah?"

"I want to take you out-"

"Why would ya wanna kill me, Natsu?" I teased. Rolling his eyes, shook his head.

"You know that's not what I meant!" he practically yelled. Still smirking, I nodded to show him I knew that already. He calmed down a little, and finished his statement. "I want to take you out to dinner."

"Lawl~" Mira and Levi cooed, which I cringed at. I was not a fan of public displays of affection- usually. This was a bit uncomfortable for me, however I just squeezed his hand.

"Alright, Natsu. I accept." He grinned, and took off out of the guild, dragging me with him. Our friends burst into a fit of laughter behind us.

"Na-Natsu? Hey! Where're we going?" I practically had to yell.

"I'm escorting you to your house to get ready!" Natsu yelled back. I sighed and tugged on his hand until he stopped running.

"I need my arms, ya know." I stated casually, earning a look from my mate.

"Uh huh. Sorry," his voice was softer than before; more tender. He wrapped an arm loosely around my waist. I stepped towards him. He tilted his head to the side and looked me in the eyes as he pressed his lips to mine. My own eyes fluttered shut, and I had a feeling his did, too. I reached up to wrap an arm around his neck when my land lady cleared her throat. I pulled away, blushing. She smiled at us, amused, before turning and walking down the street.

"See you tonight?" Natsu murmured, already walking backwards. I nodded.

"It's a date."
