Ch 16- First Day on the Job

23:14, 6 June 2013

The police sirens flashed over and over again outside the now quiet suburban house.

"They strangled these people to death and then wrote messages with their blood," Integra had explained. As she did, police officers inspected the bloody crime scene. "To hurl defiance at Christianity and Christians... They've ridiculed the Protestant Church, England, and Hellsing for the last time!"

Blood cover so much of the walls and floors, that there was hardly any left in the victims bodies. Their bodies lay together on the hard wood floors, one male and one female.

Writing written in blood could be read on the walls.

"Our targets are making their way North along Route 17!" Integra said as a heavy car sped down the road, its police lights flashing. "They're making the rounds, attacking pre-selected houses and families." Seras is leaning against the door inside the car, her eyes closed and a heavy gun in her lap. She is now wearing the Hellsing uniform with brown gloves. "We can't allow the goddamn freaks to go on!"

Seras became slightly angry as she thought about this.

The scene shifted to a different house. Blood covered the walls at this home, too. A man lies near one of the walls, his blood smeared on it as it leads a trail down to his lifeless body. Body parts lye on the floor as a man and woman are seen near the window.

"We will be able to live on forever soon..." the man says.

"As untouchable vampires," the woman continues as they embrace.

The mans blood dripping hand holds a gun as he hears the doorbell ring and looks to where the noise came from with a shocked expression.

He walks down the hall and looks toward the door with almost worried blood red eyes, his white hair falling out of the toboggan on his head. He holds the gun so it's pointed toward the ceiling.

Bullets suddenly start firing through the door and hit the man, making him holler as he's thrown back by the force. He falls to the floor as the door bursts open to reveal Alucard, his eyes glowing orange from the reflection off his glasses.

He smiles as he points his silver gun again. The man sits up from the floor with an angry expression as he points his own gun.

The man shots rapidly at Alucard, the bullets seeming to do nothing to him. When the bullets run out in the mans gun, he keeps pulling the trigger as if more bullets will still come out. The man stops smiling when he sees that the bullets had no effect on the very tall vampire, even if they did pierce his skin.

"Unable to turn into mist or bats..." Alucard says as the smoke rolls off his body, "nor can you recover from the wounds you've taken. Nor can you fight once your out of bullets." Alucard starts walking forward as a terrified look crosses the mans face. "You still think yourself worthy of being called a Nosfuratu? Know your place."

The man quickly stands and runs through a set of double doors as Alucard chuckles.

Alucard points his gun and fires rapidly as the man turns to only be hit by the bullets.

The man grunts just before Alucard thrusts his hand into the mans chest, causing more blood to spurt out from his heart. Alucard pulls out his now bloody, gloved hand, making blood gush out from the large wound.

"Don't let it escape. Police Girl," Alucard says as he turns and leaves, knowing she can hear him, nothing left of the man but his blood on the walls.

"But... uh..." 'Police Girl' says as she sits atop the roof, her arms on the gun in a fire ready position. She looks out over the fields as if she's really looking at something.

"What's wrong? Hurry up and do it," Alucard says.

The woman's long, brown hair flows behind her as she runs down the road.

"Sh-- She's so fast! 500, 600 meters away..." Seras says as she watches the woman run.

"Shoot as thought you've got a third eye in your forehead," Cara's voice says in Seras' head, watching through all of their mind links. "If you shoot like a human, you'll miss like a human."

"S- Sister..." Seras thinks back.

Seras looks worried as she points her gun at the woman.

"But..." Seras says aloud.

"You will hit. Do it in one shot, through the heart," Alucard says as he stands in front of the house.

"It's so dark and I don't have a scope..." Seras complains.

Alucard floats up by the chimney, his clothes dancing with the wind.

"Problems for a human. But you are not a human anymore," Cara thinks at Seras, knowing Alucard is smiling as he shows his mouth full of fangs.

Seras' face becomes determined as she readies her gun. She blinks and her eyes have now turned a deep red. She sees the road fly by as she now sees the running woman. She squints her eyes slightly before opening them up more and firing her gun.

The woman keeps running as the large bullet flies at her. The bullet flies through her chest and she falls to the ground with a squish of her blood, her red cap falls to the ground as she lies there, dead.

Smoke rolls off the barrel of Seras' gun, her eyes back to their normal color, as she thinks, "Such a large gun, and I barley felt the kick. It's nighttime, but I saw her better as if it had been day."

"Good job, Police Girl," Alucard says aloud.

"And... it's like I'm having a conversation through telepathy," Seras continues to think.

"What on Earth is happening to my body?" Seras says aloud.

Seras looks down at her hand as she thinks, "I'm..." and she sighs before looking up at the sky.

"Not yet, this is only the beginning... If that were all it took, this would've all been over by now," Alucard says aloud.

We are now back at the Hellsing mansion.

"There's too many, just too many," Integra thinks to herself as she looks at pictures online. "There shouldn't be this many vampire incidents. And they're only third or fourth-rate nobodies who murder haphazardly again and again. Nothing but random acts of senselessness... As if someone was manufacturing vampires..."

The scene changes again as we go to a sunny, happy looking town.

"Hey now, that's enough out of you two," a mans voice calls out as we look over the scenery. "Friends fighting one another is wholly unacceptable. You'll never get into heaven that way." The scene is now at a large building where the sun seems to shinning the brightest.

"I'm sorry, Father!" a little boys voice says.

"Listen to me, the only things deserving of such violence are demons and heathens," the Father smiles as the sun reflects off his circular glasses and he sees a man coming down the brick walkway. The tall Father looks down at the two young boys. "Right then, you two get back to your rooms."

"Alright, Father!" the two young boys say together.

"Let's go!" one says.

"Alright!" the other says as they leave and the Father waves them off, walking away himself.

"What can I do for you? What in the world's going on?" the Father asks with a smile as he walks along, the other man walking a ways behind him.

"You probably know there've been a lot of strange incidents lately," the other man says as the Father puts his hand to his shoulder and cracks it, writing can be seen on his cross inscribed glove. "Especially in England."

"Yeah. They seem to be hiding it well," the Father continues to smile.

"It's vampires," the other man says, making the Father's smile widen. "Vampires are constantly appearing in England. They're numbers are obviously abnormal."

"I fail to see the problem," the Father said. "It must be making for a lot of dead English Protestants."

"Not the case... You've heard of Hellsing?" the other man asked. "They're handling this more skillfully than we thought they would. Casualties have actually been kept to a minimum."

"That group of novices are like a preschool compared to us. Catholicism! The Vatican! And then us... We've been continuing the fight against them long before these upstarts were around. So what of me?" the Father asked, starting with a smile, but ending with a frown. "If it's a problem in England why not let them take care of it?"

"If it were just England..." the other man said.

"Well now, what's this?" the Father asked.

"The latest incident is in Ireland," the other man said as he began to walk forward. "Northern Ireland in the vicinity of Badrick. Hellsing as started to move." He now walked past the tall Father. "There's no way we can sit and watch them."

"They keep saying it's not their territory then they gear up and send their guys in," the Father said, the smile now back on his face. "What a shameless, impudent bunch as usual." He now turned to face the other man.

"That land is not Protestant land," the other man said as he walked along slowly. "It is Catholic: ours! The vampire are our prey. We can not allow them to forestall us in this, Anderson."

"What if I run into Hellsing?" Anderson asked.

"We are the Earthly agents of the one true God. We do not back down from challenges by heretics," the other man said.

"If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let them be accused! O' Lord come... Amen!" Anderson quoted.

The scene changed to a long, paved road.

This new city is by a lake, the water sparkling in the moonlight. The tall building had many windows, and from these windows, you could see the many flashes and hear the guns going off.

Seras sits on the steps of this building, her gun across her lap, with a sour expression on her bored face.

Meanwhile, Alucard is inside shooting the many ghouls. One was just shot through the head. The magazine in Alucard's gun runs out of bullets.

"Police girl," Alucard calls.

Seras kicks down the door and summer saults into the building. She stands at a firing position.

"My enemies are puppets... They are not humans..." Seras reminds herself as she aims her gun.

"That's the spirit," Cara encourages in Seras' head. "Oh, now listen to me! I sound just like Alucard!"

"Is that a bad thing?" Alucard asked.

"It will be if I start acting like you," Cara joked, making him chuckle.

"Th-this probably isn't the best time for this conversation," Seras says after a moment of having to listen to it in her head.

"Oh, sorry! We'll talk later," Cara thought.

"We wouldn't have to talk later if you would start coming along," Alucard thought.

"Well, we would get to see each other more. I'll think about it. Good luck, Police Girl!"  Cara thought back as she pulled out of the mind link.

"Just puppets..." Seras continued to remind herself as the ghouls came down the hall. "Aim and fire, it's over in one shot."

Seras fired her gun, hitting the ghouls in their heads, all falling down dead. She ran down the hall and up the stairs, firing at all the ghouls she saw. Her eyes turned a blood red as she continued to fire.

"Police girl! When you aim, make sure to take out the heart or the head," Alucard said aloud from behind her. "They didn't become ghouls because they wanted to. There's no way to change humans back once they get like this. All we can do for them is to blow them away, quickly."

Seras pulled her now empty magazine out of her gun. She went to grab another, but instead turned her now terrifying gaze to Alucard.

"Yes, sir my Master," Seras said darkly.

"Oh?" Alucard said.

Just then, a ghoul stepped out from behind each previously closed door, each carrying a gun.

Seras cocked her gun once before smiling and running forward, dodging each bullet that flew at her. She slid across the floor and fired, hitting a few ghouls. She came to a stop behind one, the thing pointing a gun at her, before standing and running at it. She punched him in the face, making him fall to the floor, and cackling before slowly crushing his head with her booted foot. The blood gushed out from the ghouls head and landed on her face as his head caved in.

Alucard watched with an almost determined look as he said, "Well now, it seems you're catching on... To what it truly means to be a Midian."

Seras took a few heavy breaths as stared down at her bloody glove Alucard came to stand closer behind her with his ever present smile. She slowly brought out her long tongue and brought her hand closer to it.

However, just before her tongue could touch the blood, a long, silver bayonet shot through her neck. Surprise crossed both their face as this happened. More bayonets flew through her torso and she fell to the ground with a shocked and painful expression.

Alucard leaned in closer and said, "Blessed bayonets..."

Thousands of paper flew around the hall and long, sharp pins glued them to the walls.

"A barrier?" Alucard asked as he turned to look at the other end of the hall.

Blood dripped off the silver bayonet as a tall man with heavy footsteps walked down the stairs. A silver cross dangled from his neck and a dastardly smile was etched on his stubble ridden face.

For once in a great while, Alucard was not smiling as the mans footsteps brought him closer. He turned the corner and stared at the two vampires, one still on the floor.

"We are the mouth of God. Earthly Agents of divine punishment! Our mission is to destroy to the last... Those who would oppose our Lord! Amen!" the man said as he crossed the bayonets at an odd angle and continued to smile.

We are now back at the Hellsing Manor.

"Integra! A report from the Vatican attack!" a man said as he rushed into Integra's office. "Rome, the Vatican... Section X111, the top-secret agency, is on the move!"

Integra cut off the butt end of a cigar as she sat at her desk and caught it in her hand as this was explained.

"Iscariot?" Integra asked.

Cara had been sitting in a chair in the corner, her head in her hand and her eyes wide, as she watched through their mind link what was happening at the scene. She was too preoccupied to really hear the conversation in the room.

Walter stood with his hands behind his back close to Integra's desk.

"The Vatican's unofficial enforcement squad..." Integra went on. "It's the single strongest force they possess. Professionals in exorcism, oppressing pagans, and exterminating heretics. Bearing the name Judas, the Section X111 that's not supposed to exist... So, how many did they send?"

"Only one," the other man said as we see a flash of the tall man go back to the building. "Father Alexander Anderson the Paladin!"

We go back to the manor as Integra asks, "Father Alexander Anderson?" Walter and Cara turn to look at her. "What do you think will happen if he and Alucard's lot run into each other?" Integra and the man gasp. She stands and puts her hands on her desk. "I'm going to Badrick as well! I need a gun, a sword, and two guards!" The man bows to her. "Walter, I'm leaving you to keep in contact with the Vatican."

"Understood," Walter bowed.

"May I come, Master Integra?" Cara asked, just now pulling from her thoughts.
