Suspicious

A/N: I'm going to be switching between Auburn's and Pan's pov in this chapter, so just a heads up.

It's been three days since some of the Lost Boys left for their hunting trip, I was really starting to miss Felix but tried to distract myself by going out on my own and continuing to look for answers about my life before arriving to Neverland. It was tricky though, Pan didn't like me leaving camp alone so I had to sneak out or come up with an excuse as to why I needed to be alone, he was starting to get suspicious however, and it was becoming difficult to come up with new excuses.

I had just gotten away from Pan and was heading to the beach when I heard a rustling in a nearby bush. I stopped and pulled out my dagger and started walking towards the bush to see who(or what) was hiding behind it. I looked behind the bush and saw one of the Lost Boys hiding, probably spying on me. "What are you doing here Devin?" I asked putting my dagger away "I saw you leave camp and got curious, you know Pan doesn't let you go out alone Auburn" Devin said getting out from behind the bush, I sighed "I thought Pan was having a meeting, shouldn't you be at that?" I asked "technically you should be too" Devin said "he excused me from this one, if he mentions anything important he will tell me later" I lied "I know that's a lie, he's never excused you before" Devin said "just go back to camp before he gets pissed at you for ditching" I said crossing my arms. "I'm not going any where with out you, and if you refuse to return to camp with me I'll tell Pan you've been wondering around the island alone" Devin said, he looked serious. I sighed again "fine, lets get back" I said "I can just sneak out later tonight" I thought to myself. Devin and I started heading back to camp picking berries on our way so we had something to tell Pan if he questioned where we were.

We had just walked into the camp, and just as I thought, Pan was sitting on his tree stump waiting for us "where were you two?" he questioned raising an eyebrow "we were gathering more berries for camp" I said showing him the assortment of berries in my satchel "we had a meeting this morning" Pan said looking a little angry "we're sorry, Pan, we woke up really early and lost track of time" Devin said, Pan nodded his head "Devin wait for me in my hut" he said. Devin obeyed and walked away, leaving me alone with Peter "great" I thought. "You've been leaving camp alone a lot lately, Auburn, and I would like to know why" Pan said looking me in my eyes "what do you mean" I asked tilting my head acting confused "drop the act Auburn, it won't work on me, you know I can sense a lie" Pan said hopping down from the tree stump and walking closer to me, still keeping eye contact, "why have you been going out so much?" he asked standing only inches from my face, I tried looking away but Pan grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him "tell me why you've been leaving camp so much, Auburn" Pan ordered, his eyes getting darker "think, Auburn, think!" I thought to myself, then something came to mind, "I've been leaving because I enjoy the quiet and being alone every so often" I said. That wasn't a total lie, I did like the quiet and the solitude. He continued to look in my eyes, searching to see if I was telling the truth or not, he let go of my chin and just nodded "if you want to be alone so much then stay in your tree house, which is where I want you to go and stay till dinner" Pan said before walking away. I scoffed, watching him walk away, before heading to my tree house as told.

Pan's POV

I started walking to my hut where Devin was waiting for me, he was sitting on a stool when I walked threw the door. I knew Auburn had been lying to me and coming up with excuses about why she was leaving camp alone, I just didn't know where she was going and why, that's why I sent Devin to watch her in secret. I saw her sneak out of camp alone for the second time since I sent Felix and the others on their hunting trip, she was acting strange as if she were hiding something. "Where was she headed?" I asked getting straight to the point "I'm not sure, she found me out before getting to her destination" Devin said avoiding eye contact, he was scared(good), I walked closer to where he was sitting and looked him in the eye, the anger was visible "she saw you!?" I shouted, the boy flinched "I-I'm sorry" Devin said shakily. I scoffed and backed up a bit, I started pacing "does she know I sent you?" I questioned "no, I told her that I saw her leave and got curious" Devin said, fear could still be heard in his voice "I need to know where she's been going!" I said "I know" Devin whispered "if Felix and the other's aren't back by tomorrow you will be keeping a close eye on her, she isn't allowed to leave this camp unsupervised! do I make myself clear!" I shouted "yes Pan" Devin said quivering "you're dismissed" I said pinching the bridge of my nose in frustration. Devin stood up and started walking towards the door. "Wait!" I stopped him, he turned and looked at me "stand guard at her tree house, and don't let her out till dinner, I don't want her sneaking off again" I said "okay" Devin said before finally leaving my hut. "What am I going to do with you, Auburn?" I thought to myself before taking a seat at my desk and continuing my work.

Auburn's POV

I was sitting on my bed in my tree house when I heard shouting, "she saw you!?" it was Pan's voice "wait...did Pan send Devin to spy on me!?" I asked myself "that liar!" I said under my breath, I heard some more shouting coming from Peter's hut then it was silent. I was curious so I stepped out onto the balcony of my tree house, I saw Devin walking towards me, "you're such a freaking liar!" I yelled down at him, he looked up at me and rolled his eyes "I'm guessing you heard that then, huh?" Devin asked climbing up the rope ladder to my tree house "what do you think you're doing?" I asked "Pan told me to guard you till dinner" Devin said pushing me back inside. I scoffed and walked towards my little library, sitting in one of the chairs, Devin went back out on the balcony and closed the door behind him "this is fine" I thought to myself "I can just read till everyone is asleep" I thought.

It has been a few hours since Pan sent Devin to stand guard outside my door. I had decided to spend that time reading until it was time for dinner. I had just turned the page to start the next chapter of my book when I heard the door to my tree house open, Devin poked his head inside, "you can come out now" Devin said "wow, thanks for your permission" I said sarcastically and rolling my eyes. I placed my book down and started walking to the door when I heard a familiar voice, "hey Auburn!" I ran outside the door and saw Felix standing at the bottom of my tree, my eyes grew wide and I jumped down grabbing the rope on my way, Devin followed but used the ladder instead. "Hey, when did you guys get back?" I asked trying to act normal since Devin was still here and I didn't want him running off to tell Peter about Felix and I. "we just got back a few minutes ago" Felix said, Devin had just hopped down from the ladder and walked over to me "come on Auburn, Pan is going to want to celebrate the return of the boys" Devin said "I'll be there in a second" I said "alright" Devin said as he started to walk away. I checked behind Felix's shoulder to make sure Devin was out of sight before hugging Felix tightly "I've missed you so much!" I said burring my face into his shoulder, he rapped his arms around me returning the hug "I've missed you too" Felix said "but, umm, why was Devin standing outside of your door?" Felix asked pulling away "let's talk about this inside" I said climbing up the rope ladder, Felix close behind me.

We got inside and I sat down on my bed, Felix was close behind making sure to shut the door before sitting next to me. "Now tell me why Devin was outside your door" Felix said, I looked at him and sighed, "Pan sent him to spy on me because he was getting suspicious of me leaving camp unsupervised, then told him to guard my door so I couldn't sneak out again" I said. Felix nodded and looked at me "you should have waited till I got back" he said "I know, but you know how impatient I can get" I sighed, resting my head on Felix's shoulder "oh, I know" he said looking down at me with a smirk, he kissed the top of my head before lifting my chin to look him in the eyes, "we should get to the others, don't want anyone wondering where we are" Felix said. I nodded in agreement and stood up making my way to the door. "One more thing real quick, love" Felix said stopping me, I turned to look behind me just in time to see Felix super close to my face. He took both my hands and wrapped them around his shoulders before placing his hands on my waist, he then pinned me against the wall and kissed me passionately. I let out a soft moan then Felix pulled away and he looked at me smirking, "you must have missed me a lot, hm?" he chuckled, I let out a small laugh "we should get going now" I said giving Felix one last quick kiss before walking out of my door with him close behind.

We arrived at the campfire to see all the Lost Boys dancing around it while Peter played his pan flute like always. We sat down on one of the logs near the fire, but far enough from each other so that Pan wouldn't think there was anything going on between us. I was watching the boys dance around the fire when I felt someone's eyes on me, I looked up and saw Pan staring at me while playing his flute. When he realized I noticed him watching me he quickly looked away and continued playing his flute. I decided to just ignore it and continue watching the Lost Boys dance and have fun.

It was starting to get late and most of the younger boys had already gone to their huts for bed. Pan, Felix, Devin and I where still sitting around the camp fire along with some of the other older boys. Felix had moved to talk to Peter and Devin about what happened while he and the others were away. I sat alone, trying to listen to what they were saying, "from now on I need either you or Devin keeping an eye on Auburn, make sure she doesn't sneak out of camp again" Pan said to the two boys, Felix just nodded as he listened to what Peter was saying "I was thinking of having Devin stand guard outside Auburn's door tonight so she doesn't try to sneak off tonight" Pan said, Felix didn't look too happy to hear that, "actually maybe I could stand guard tonight, you already sent him to spy on her this morning" Felix said "alright fine you can watch her then" Pan said. The three boys continued talking about something else so I decided to go to bed. I walked past the boys and stopped behind Peter, the other two looked at me causing Pan to look behind him "what is it Auburn?" Pan asked "just thought I'd let you know I'm going to bed, I'll see you three in the morning" I said, I quickly glanced at Felix before looking back at Pan, "alright, night Auburn" Pan said. I walked away towards my tree house and waited to hear footsteps behind me, sure enough someone started following me and when I looked over my shoulder I saw Felix "perfect" I thought to myself with a smirk.

I had just entered my tree house and started packing some nuts and berries into my satchel and putting my dagger into it's holster when Felix climbed up the rope ladder and closed the door behind him after entering the small room. "What're you doing?" he asked crossing his arms "going to the beach to look for more clues" I said stuffing an empty sack into the satchel "you won't be able to see in the dark" Felix said "I have a lantern" I said still packing things, "Pan will sense us leaving" Felix said. I opened the drawer of my night stand next to my bed and took out a small clear bag filled with a black liquid, I smirked and said "I've already got that figured out too" Felix's eyes grew wide "are you serious!? squid ink!?" he whisper shouted, I just looked at him and shrugged "he'll only be frozen for a few hours, we'll already be back by the time the ink's effects wear off" I said stuffing the small bag into the pocket of my cloak. Felix stood in front of my door shaking his head at me "Pan's gonna be pissed when he's able to move again" he said "so what, I need answers, I'm sick of having no memory of my life before coming here!" I said in a stern tone. Felix looked down at the floor "what are you going to do when you find what you're looking for?" he asked. I stood there in silence not knowing how to respond, I've always planned on leaving after finding out who my family was but never told this to Felix because I didn't want him to get upset or decide not to help me. Felix looked at me again "are you going to leave after you find out?" he asked, his voice getting a little louder "I've thought about it, yes" I admitted "but this is really important to me" I said putting my satchel on over my shoulder and letting it rest across my body "and I can't do it alone" I added walking towards Felix. I looked him in the eyes and held his hands in mine "will you please help me" I asked, he sighed then nodded his head "fine, but we have to be quick before Pan catches us" he said, I gave him a tight hug "thank you!" I said "anything for you, love" Felix said returning the hug.

We walked out of the tree house and started making our way towards Pan's hut to set up the squid ink trap. I spread some of the ink on the floor near Pan's bed so he would step in it as soon as he tried to get up while Felix put the rest of the ink near the door of the hut so Pan would be frozen again when trying to leave, that way Felix and I would have a little extra time to leave, have a quick walk along the beach then come back. Soon after setting the trap we both left and started heading towards the beach.

Pan's POV:

I had been woken up abruptly, but from what? I couldn't tell, until I could sense two people leaving the camp. I focused on who they where, Auburn and Felix, but why? I was about to get out of bed to follow them but as soon as my feet touched the ground I could feel my limbs become tense, "smart" I thought to myself "they used squid ink so I couldn't follow them" I sighed sitting on my bed frozen, all I could do now was wait.

Auburn's POV:

Felix and I had been walking around the beach for a few hours, lanterns in hand so we could see better. We were just about to give up searching since it was getting late and we were both tired, until something in the distance caught my eye. I started walking towards it and crouched down to get a better look at the thing I found, "what is it love?" Felix asked walking up to me. I held it up for him to look at, a glass bottle with what looked like a paper inside. I took the cork of the bottle and dumped out the paper inside, I laid it on the ground for Felix to shine the light of his lantern on it so we could see it better. It was a map of a town called Storybrooke.

As soon as I looked at the name I closed my eyes and could see flashes, small bits and pieces of my lost memory coming back to me. Felix noticed and dropped down next to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder to make sure I was okay, "what's wrong Auburn?" he asked concerned "the name, Storybrooke, it sounds familiar to me"I said opening my eyes and looking at Felix "come on, we should get back" Felix said helping me from the ground. I put the map back into the bottle and put it in my satchel. The two of us were about to make our way back to camp when I had an idea. I stopped in my tracks, all of a sudden having the urge to do something that Felix and I hadn't done in a while due to the fear of Pan finding out, "Felix..." I said, he looked back at me confused as to why I stopped "what is it Auburn? are you okay?" he asked walking up to me "yeah, I'm fine, there's just something I want to show you quickly" I said "I found it a couple days ago after you and the others left" Felix looked at me, still confused, but agreed to follow me to this secret location.

We had been walking for a couple hours when we arrived at a small cabin hidden deep in the forest. "What is this place?" Felix asked "not sure, I found it the day after you and the other Lost Boys left, it seemed to be abandoned so I decided to fix it up" I said walking towards the door. I entered the cabin and placed my lamp on a small table next to the door, the light from the lantern illuminated the small room. There was a small seating area with a love seat and chair in front of a fireplace, across from that was a bed with two nightstands on either side and a chest at the end of it, and finally a giant wardrobe with a full length mirror on one of the doors sat across from the front door with a divider next to it.

"Wow" Felix said from behind me "how did you get all of these things in here?" he asked "I used my imagination to picture how I wanted the room too look, and wished for it to be real then magic did the rest" I said smiling. I turned to look at Felix "I was thinking this could be our new secret hideout, a lot more hidden the our cove don't you think?" I asked, Felix looked around some more before looking at me "this is magnificent!" he said with a grin, he scooped me up into a hug, spun me around once before placing me gently on the ground and kissing me. My arms wrapped around his neck while he placed his hands on my waist walking me back towards the bed.

I sat down on the bed and Felix pulled away, "how much time do you think we have?" he asked, I looked past Felix's shoulder to look out the window so I could see where the moon was to tell the time. It was about two in the morning. I looked back at Felix "we have about an hour before we need to be back" I said looking back up to Felix, a smirk appeared on his face "perfect" he said before leaning down for another kiss. The kiss got deeper as Felix picked me up and laid me back down on the bed so my head was resting on a pillow and getting on top of me. He pulled away from the kiss again, but only for a few seconds to take both our clothes off then he went right back to kissing me.

"God I missed this" Felix said still a little out of breath, I nodded in agreement with him. We were cuddling now, covered by a blanket. We hadn't been able to have sex for months since our relationship was supposed to be a secret,  we've only done it once before in our cove but we were almost caught after so we agreed to wait till we found a more secretive place for us.

After a few more minutes of cuddling we had to get up, get dressed and start making our way back to camp before the effects of the squid ink wear off of Peter. I looked up at the sky to see where the moon was for the time, "3:50, we've got about half an hour to get back" I thought to myself.

Felix and I had gotten back to camp just  in time and were now heading to my tree house. "You gonna come inside?" I asked Felix holding my door open "I don't think that would be a good idea, Pan might come to check on us" Felix said, I nodded and went inside after giving him a quick kiss. I closed the door behind me so I could change then went to bed.
