Chapter 13
22:38, 4 March 2017Draco's POV
By the time our week at Disney was over, I had been to every theme park there and seen just about every cartoon... And I was starting to miss our house. So Harry and I gathered all of our clothes and belongings (which had been scattered all over the room) and apparated back to England.
After we had put everything away, we sat down in the living room and ate some of the candy that we had bought during our shopping spree the week before. The seven days that we had spent in Disney was more than enough activity for me, and all I really wanted to do was relax, but Harry seemed to want to get back into the adult muggle world, so he went to something called a club, think, while I turned on the TV and watched something called Doctor Who for a while.
After deciding that I liked the show, I remembered that I was a wizard, and I made the entire season appear in my hands. I spent the rest of the night watching a marathon of the show, and it wasn't until after midnight when I realized that Harry still wasn't home... And he had told me that he would be home by eleven thirty.
I tried to ignore it and continue watching the episode that I was on, but the thought grew in the back of my head, and I began to get increasingly worried. What if something had happened to him?
By twelve thirty I had given up on watching Doctor Who, and turned my chair towards the window, waiting, and hoping that he would come home soon so I wouldn't have to go out and look for him. He didn't.
At 1:30 AM, I was too worried to sit around waiting for him anymore. I needed to find out whether anything had happened to him, and maybe help him get back to the house. I asked a stranger for directions, and then followed them until I found a huge building.
As soon as I entered the room, I was hit by huge, colourful strobe lights and the smell of alcohol. I had consumed my share of firewhisky back at Hogwarts, but I wasn't exactly eager to get drunk. (A few unfortunate incidents had happened during the hazyness of the night. The guy I had been with, a Ravenclaw, luckily didn't remember a thing... But I did, and spent the rest of that year terrified that someone would find out)
It took me a while to find Harry, but finally I spotted him, chatting with some bloke near the far wall. The guy he was talking to annoyed me for some reason. I mean, he was hot. Dirty blonde hair, eyes that literally looked like melted milk chocolate, and the kind of smile that you only read about in romance novels: crooked but made you want to smile back. But still, I decided that I didn't like him.
I watched them talk for a little while, knowing that this man was flirting with Harry. And I didn't want to stop Harry from having company if he didn't have Ron and Hermione... but I didn't like this guy and how he was laughing with Harry. He was acting as if he knew the black haired boy, as if he knew all about his life and scar and bravery... which he didn't. I was the only one Harry was able to communicate with now that he couldn't talk to his old friends, so I was the only one who knew him, the real hero that was Harry Potter. Me, and only me.
So, I interrupted. I walked over to them, and Harry noticed me.
"Draco," he said, looking surprised.
The guy glanced between us. "Uh, sorry. Is this your boyfriend? Because if it is I'm sorry that I was, um, flirting with you..."
Hot and nice. I disliked him even more.
"No, we're not dating." Harry ran his fingers through his hair and swayed unsteadily. I realized that he was drunk. "This is my friend, Draco Malfoy. Draco, this is Kyle."
I nodded towards him, and said "Hi," a bit coldly. Harry frowned at me.
"Why are you here, anyways? I thought you were staying in to watch TV?"
"I did, but then you didn't come home when you said you'd be home, so I thought something might have happened."
Harry checked his watch. "Oh. Sorry, I forgot." He laughed.
"Not funny," I muttered, but he didn't notice, and instead drank some more of whatever he had in his hand and smiled carelessly.
"You're drunk, you know that, right?"
"Yuppp." he grinned at Kyle, who smiled back.
I rolled my eyes. "Okay, come on," I said, pulling his arm.
"Wait!" he said. "I need to get Kyle's number."
"His... what?" I said, not entirely sure of what that meant. I was still new to the muggle way of meeting new people.
Harry ignored me. I watched as they exchanged cellphones and typed in their numbers. Harry's fingers stumbled over the keys, a sure sign of drunkenness, and it took him several times to get the right string of numbers. When I finally got him out of the pub (it took a while, considering that he was able to convince me to let him get another drink), he glared at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Why did you come and get meee?" he slurred. Great. He was even more drunk than before. "I was talking to Kurt."
"Kyle." I reminded him, a bit happy that he didn't remember the guy's name.
"Whatever. Why?"
"Because you could've been hurt."
"Like you care." He stumbled over his feet and frowned down at them, as if he were offended that they didn't work properly.
I didn't know exactly what to say. I did care, but I wasn't sure if I'd be able to convince him, so I changed the subject.
"Why did you get so drunk in the first place?"
"Because Ron hates me and I can't talk to Hermione." he whispered. "Because I have to live with you."
"Well," I said, hurt. "I can... leave if you want me to."
"No!" he cried, whipping his head around and staring at me. "That's not what I meant."
"What did you mean, Harry?" I asked quietly, wondering why he would hate living with me but yet not want me to leave. We had reached our house, so I let us in and stood by the stairs, waiting for his answer.
"Nothing."
"Why don't you like living with me? Is it because I bullied you?"
"Noo." he flopped down and sat on the floor cross-legged, like a small child.
"Is it because I was a Death Eater?"
"Nopety." said Harry, and laughed at the word that he had created.
I tried to think of something else I had done that might make him hate me, but came up with nothing. Bullying him and being a death eater were the only two things, although they were rather big ones.
"Umm, is it because I got the bigger bedroom?" I asked finally. He just laughed.
"You're stupid."
"Thanks." I said sarcastically.
We were silent for a couple seconds. I sat down across from him, and stared at his face.
"Is it because..." I trailed off, trying to find the problem he had with me.
"It's nothing. Don't worry about it." he smiled, but his eyes held unbearable sadness.
"Harry, just tell me."
"You really want to know?" he asked. Now he sounded almost almost angry, but he was laughing. God, this boy really needed to get his emotions straight.
"Yes." I tried to make my face look opening, like someone you could talk to easily.
"I like you Draco." he said. "I have since... I don't even know. It seems like forever.
"That's why I saved you during the Final Battle. That's why I hate living with you. Because I've had this ginormous crush on my enemy for years... And now he's suddenly not my enemy, but my kind-of friend, and we're freaking LIVING together. Do you know how hard that is? Because I see you every day, notice your adorable smile and your laugh and your eyes, but I can't even say anything, because we've spent seven years hating each other, and plus, you're straight!"
He was on the verge of yelling, and a red blush had flooded his cheeks, but he continued: "I don't have anyone to tell all this to, so I keep it all inside, knowing that as soon as I tell you, you'll leave."
He quieted down a bit, and then said, "So, I guess you're going to leave now. I'm going to go to bed... You can go pack or whatever. Bye."
He wobbled to his feet and made his way up the stairs. I waited until I heard the creak of his bed springs, and then collapsed onto my back and stared at the ceiling.
Author's Note:
You guys hate me, don't you.
I AM EXTREMELY SORRY FOR ABANDONING YOU! MY WIFI WAS EXTREMELY SLOW (it took forever just to load the Google page) AND I HAD WRITERS BLOCK.
Still, that's not really a great excuse, is it? I should have found some way to write more.
But I'm finally getting into the good part (Harry told Draco about his crush!) so that's good.
Once again, thanks for all the support with my teacher problem... I'm still kind of avoiding the topic with her, but your stories made me feel better about it. And thank you to the person who sent me the message advising me to tell her the truth... I think I'll do that if she asks me again.
Love,Raven
