"YOU DO?" WILL asked, his eyes big.

Mike nodded, feeling himself going red with embarrassment. It was silent again, even the song had come to an end. Just totally silent.

"Sorry, It was stupid I shouldn't have said anything I-" Mike started again, feeling his eyes prickling with tears of chagrin.

"Mike." Will said softly. He stood up and came to sit by Mike. He kissed him softly, so softly their lips barley touch.

"I like you too. I always have," he says."You have?" Mike asks, feeling like an idiot.

"Yeah, since we were like 7." Will responds, and he's wearing the biggest smile Mike had ever seen him smile. His eyes are glittering with happiness, and his flushed cheeks look so cute Mike just has to put his hand on Will's cheek.

And kiss him. For real, this time.

He tastes like jam, and It's so much better than the dream ever could've ever been. So much better than any kiss with Jane ever was. So much better than anything ever was in the history of the world. If he wasn't 100% sure he liked Will before hand, he was more than sure enough now.

Mike feels Will's arms wrap around his neck as the kiss progresses. He closes his eyes tightly, focusing on nothing but Will in his arms, nothing but the lips moving so perfectly with his.

Finally they break away, and Will smiles his adorable smile again.

"Wow," he breathed. Wow is correct, but Mike couldn't say it at the moment. He couldn't do anything but look at Will and smile like a complete moron.

"What?" Will asked, looking down awkwardly.

"Nothing. You're just- so pretty." Mike said. Will turned even redder, and Mike saw his small smile start again.

"What happens now? are we like- boyfriends?" Will asked, and the words make Mike's stomach jump and turn- but in a good way.

"I guess we are," Mike replied. Will Byers, my boyfriend. I have a boyfriend, he thought, me. I have an actual boyfriend who's a boy and Will.

Will smiled again, looking up at Mike. It's kind of like they're seeing each other for the first time- and in a way, they are.

They spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up, putting the school back to the way thy found it. It's weird, how fast his 48 hours have passed. He had actually spent a whole weekend with Will Byers, a whole weekend in school.

The thing was, while they were cleaning the cafeteria,  Mike realized something. What was going to happen tomorrow? what was going to happen when everyone shows up for school and they're back in opposite parts of the social food-chain?

Tomorrow Troy and James and Dustin and Lucas will be back. And Jane. What would happen when they found out about Will and him?

What would everyone do when they found out about Will and him? how would the school react? there were literally no kids out in school. could he really be part of the first same-sex relationship Hawkins high has ever seen?

He wanted to think he could. More than anything, he wanted to believe he could do it, that he didn't care about the bullying he would endure. But could he?

"who knew how much damage we can do in two days?" Will said, collapsing onto Mike's lap.

"Two and a half," Mike corrected, playing with Will's light brown hair.  It was weird how quick the both of them adjusted to this new arrangement: it came so naturally.

"Still," Will said, "that was hard."Mike responded with a kiss. Now that he could kiss Will, he didn't think he would ever stop. Will kissed him back, and Mike forgot all his doubts. This was worth fighting for. Will was worth fighting for. Who cared if he got bullied?

"what's your first class of the morning?" Will asked, pulling away.

"Umm- biology, with Mr. Davis." Mike said."Let's sleep in his class, then." Will said, jumping to his feet and holding out his hand to Mike. Mike grabbed it, getting up.

They ran through the hall, not actually having a particular reason to do so. Mike felt drunk with happiness, the weirdest most unexpected kind of happiness.

When they reached the class, they just sat on the floor and talked. About everything. They talked until it was pitch black outside and the clock behind the teacher's desk read 11:53 pm.

"We should probably go to sleep," Mike said. Will nodded in agreement, overcome by a huge yawn.Mike grabbed the scarves and blanket from Will's bag. It was cold enough to need both.

"So... how should we-?" Will asked. Mike turned red. Will was right: what would happen if they didn't wake up in time and the kids came in-

They ended up choosing adjacent desks, close enough to talk but far enough it didn't look weird if they didn't wake up in time.

They sat on the chairs, so it didn't look like they had spent the night in school. They didn't know if that was allowed, and really didn't want to find out.

"Good night," Mike said. He gave Will one last kiss, and each of the boys put their head in their hands and tried to get comfortable enough to sleep.

The last thing Mike remembered thinking was how strawberry jam was actually far more delicious than he had thought, at least when it came from Will's lips.
