Chapter 1: a new life

present day

It's a sunny Monday morning. Choi Beomgyu is sitting near beside the classroom's window wherein he can see the beautiful view of the school. There is a big fountain in the middle of the building that Beomgyu wants to visit every time.

Taehyun: Beomgyu?! Hi?!

Beomgyu was shocked after seeing Taehyun.

Beomgyu: Oh! Didn't notice you there hehehhe.

Beomgyu smiled at Taehyun and Taehyun smiled back.

Taehyun: Are you ok? It seems like you don't feel so well?

Beomgyu: Well, I guess writing a 30 page essay in the night isn't a good idea.

Taehyun: Wow, you already did your essay? But that's deadlined for next week?!

Beomgyu: Yup! I already did it because I have something to do for the next days.

Taehyun: Really?! Are you joining a club? Are you auditioning for dance club?!

Beomgyu: What!? No! It's just that I feel like I will be busy these coming days.

Taehyun: Don't worry, I'll make you a banner!

Taehyun walked immediately to his seat while...

Beomgyu: I said I'm not auditioning~

Beomgyu was shocked to see who's in front of him. It was Yeonjun.

Beomgyu didn't know what to do.

Beomgyu: Hi~

Yeonjun just passed Beomgyu. Beomgyu didn't look back. In fact, he was paralyzed for a few seconds.

Beomgyu's POV

As always, it is awkward whenever I see Yeonjun. I know he's mad at me. Sometimes, when we have class discussions, I accidentally looked at him and I saw him glancing at me then he will look somewhere else acting like nothing happened. It feels like he's planning for a revenge or else. I hope it's not like that.

lunch time

Taehyun: Beomgy~

After finishing Science class, I immediately ran away from the classroom. I walked quickly not knowing where I'm headed to.

Gosh, this time was even worse, he is staring at me! I really don't know what to do. If I can just tell somebody about this except for Taehyun because I know what he'll act if he knew that I did something crazy back then. Yes, so crazy! Well, at least everything changed.

Last year, Taehyun was really quiet. He doesn't even participate in any class recitations or anything that includes talking. He was the most quiet student last year. Yeonjun was also quiet but he participates well to class recitations. Well, thank goodness, everything changed when that girl transferred to another school. I don't know the reason behind it since I agreed to what she said last year but at least everything is fine, for now.

My tummy started to growl so loud so I've decided to eat.

in the cafeteria

I looked everywhere in the cafeteria but I can't see Taehyun. We are usually here whenever its lunchtime but he's not here. I'm starting to get nervous. What if he's being bullied again? I started running to find Taehyun.

in the classroom

I swear if he's~

I was shocked. I feel like it's the end of me.

I saw Taehyun crying in front of Yeonjun.

I think I'm paralyzed for so long. I can't move.

Taehyun: Oh! Beomgyu! Come here!

The two of them looked at me while I'm standing beside the door.

Wait a minute, what's happening here?

He isn't crying?! Well, I'm a bit relieved.

Beomgyu: Hi-i! How's lu-lunch?

Taehyun: I haven't eat yet. Do you have food in you?

Beomgyu: Ye-yeah! He-here!

I handed Taehyun the food.

Beomgyu: Yeo-yeonju-jun, do you wa-want some?

He just shook his head as a sign of disagreement.

While looking at him, I can see his serious face. I swear he's hiding his irritation. I knew he don't want me to be here so I've decided to go awa~

Yeonjun: Just hand me the draft later. Bye.

Then he walked out of the classroom. I knew it, he was so angry to the point that he couldn't handle it much.

Beomgyu: What are you two doing here?

Taehyun: We are doing our Science activity? Why do you ask?

Beomgyu: Uhmm, no-nothing. It's just that you're not at the cafeteria which is impossible.

Taehyun smiled a little.

Taehyun: Look, I'm sorry. But why did you ignore me after Science class?

Beomgyu: Uhmmm, a-also no-nothing. I'm just hungry you know.

Taehyun: Really? OK then.

Good thing it is just a misunderstanding. I really thought Taehyun was being bullied again. I don't want it to happen again anymore.

Third Person POV

at a coffee shop

Beomgyu is busy at his phone while waiting for someone. He's waiting for Kai for their activity in Science.

Kai just entered the shop with a football jersey on. He was sweating that his whole jersey is already full of sweat.

Beomgyu: You're wet? Did it rain?

Kai: Nope! It's just that I've finished playing football. You know, qualifying round is almost near so we gotta practice harder.

Beomgyu: Really? Good luck then!

Kai: Thank you very very very much!

He saluted in front of Beomgyu.

Kai: Beombeom! I think I'm done with the draft!

Beomgyu: Really? Can i see?

Kai: Here.

Beomgyu was busy finalizing the draft while Kai is busy with his phone.

Kai: Are you done?

Beomgyu: No, not yet! I think I'm a bit confused with the last part. Wait lemme review again the lesson.

Kai: Well, I think I can help?

Beomgyu: Really? How?

Kai: There!

Kai pointed someone coming inside from the coffee shop. Beomgyu can't believe what he's seeing right now. It's Yeonjun coming near them.

Kai: I've been waiting for you for a decade, Choi! You even made Beombeom crazy about our activity.

Yeonjun: Sorry.

Beomgyu who's confused stared at Kai. Kai was also confused.

Kai: What? I thought you need help? (whispering)

Beomgyu: I thought you have a great idea? (also whispering)

Kai: Yes! This is it! (continues whispering)

Beomgyu gave Kai a confused look.

Yeonjun sat beside Kai while Beomgyu is alone on the other side of the table.

Yeonjun: What kind of help do you need?

Beomgyu: Oh! Uhmm! I- think I've understand the lesson already-dy.

Beomgyu's POV

Yeonjun stole the papers from me. I was surprised that he would help us answering the questions.

I swear Yeonjun is really the most intelligent person I've ever seen. He always answer all the questions of the teacher during recitations. He even answered a college-like-test last year because the teacher said she saw something on him. He may be quiet but he is talkative when it comes to class activities. So yeah, in short he's really clever. But he sucks in Art subject. Yeah, it's the only subject he can't excel.

He start writing something on the paper. He didn't even look at the notes that we have!

Kai: Woah! You really are the brain of our section, Choi! So nice to have a friend like you! You should also thank me 'cause you have an awesome and handsome friend like me!

Kai started laughing by himself.

I looked at Yeonjun's face. He's serious face is appearing again as usual but I know deep inside he's against this. I'm curious on how Kai persuade this man.

Kai: Is it finish? Wow you really are great, Choichoi! I love youuuuu!

Kai started hugging Yeonjun. LOL Yeonjun was avoiding Kai's arms.

I laughed. And he saw me laughing.

I stopped laughing. It was awkward. He's still staring at me. I think it's becoming creepy now so~

Beomgyu: Thank you very much, Yeonjun, for helping us in our activity. But my mother is already calling me so bye!

Yeonjun: Wait.

I stopped. I think my heart stopped a beat or something.

Beomgyu: Why?

Yeonjun: Hmmmmm.
