Chapter 25: The sixth child

" Some people believe that the lucky number is 9. Nine sequences to the paths of the divine. Fitting isn't? "

This isn't a dream but a memory.

" Some people say that it is seven. The equivalent of 7 orthodox churches... "

It wasn't a memory of his past life. But of current. It just happened not a long time ago.

" Seven... just like your birth number. Among us, you are the seventh child. "

" Brother? "

Yareth was clueless about the events that would happen.

" Who would never think that mother and father would believe in such beliefs despite clearly saying to us to don't hold any faith towards the Orthodox Churches? They never taught us to be religious. "

Yareth's brother slowly minimizes the distance between them. Yareth instead of feeling happiness or relief that one of his older siblings is talking to him other than the crown prince was feeling dread and fear.

" ..Brother?... "

Why is his brother was looking at him with anger?

" At sequence 7 and below, a child between two Beyonders wouldn't inherit any Beyonder characteristics...."

Yareth stepped back from his older brother fearfully.

" In sequence 6 and 5, Beyonder parents would naturally pass down a portion towards their child yet it would never affect the parent's strength. The child would be born with the Beyonder powers of its parents, but as a result of that, their Pathway is fixed...."

As Yareth continued stepping back, he found himself slipping on the floor frontward. He found himself groaning in pain while laying on the floor. Why did he suddenly slip all of sudden? It was unfair. Yareth thought inside his mind. But he doesn't let himself cry because of the pain. Mother wouldn't like it if he cried. He was a prince. Mother wouldn't happy if he sullied their image. A son of a king and queen should be dignified. They shouldn't be pathetic like him. Yareth raise his head from the floor and found his older brother looking at him coldly.

" As for high sequence parents, they can control the Beyonder characteristics that their child would inherit. They can decide at what sequence would they want their child to become a Beyonder.  Our parents decided for me to become ordinary with no Beyonder characteristics inherited from them. "

Yareth tried to get up from the floor. Suddenly, he cried out in pain as he found one of his hands being stepped by his older brother.

" As for you, since you are the lucky child, you are destined to become a sequence 5 from the moment that you are born... "

" Brother... it hurts.. please.. "

" Our parents planned carefully and with every care before the moment you are born. But then, all of the Beyonder characteristics have been all for nothing the moment that you are born. You destroyed their plans and aspirations. Everything is perfect with the exception that you are born ordinary. You have nearly caused our parents to lose control of themselves and fight each other. "

Yareth can feel tears slipping out of his eyes.

" If it was supposed to be me... I wouldn't become a disappointment like you. "

Yareth groaned more in pain as he felt the boot stumping more on his hand.

" Brother... "

" Recently, I have come to know that they have tried to see if you could become a Beyonder of their pathways again last year. That stupid older brother of ours decided to hide the information from me, but it has been brought to light. Our parents...molding their perfect heir...not for the throne, but something grander. Yet, you disappointed them again. "

Yareth can feel the boot of his brother gone on his hand. He felt relief at that, but he didn't expect his brother to pull his hair. It was painful.

" Brother!.. "

" Useless! Trash! You keep disappointing them again and again! It should be me! The Beyonder characteristics should be mine! I am supposed to be the perfect heir! If that stupid elder brother of ours didn't lower himself just to save your life... You didn't deserve to exist. "

His brother has dragged him with his hair. His head hits the table painfully. Yareth found himself facing the mirror inside his room.

" You shouldn't suppose to exist. "

His brother was at his back with the most painful and ugliest smile that he could have in his usually composed, well-mannered, and perfect face.

" Mother and Father are so kind to give you a chance again... Well since I am their child, I suppose I should give you a chance? Do you see those potions on the table? They are both potions from the black emperor pathway and Justiciar. From sequence 9 to 5. As the perfect heir, I should be benevolent and perfect like them. The Feynapotter Kingdom was prosperous because of them. They are truly the ideal that everyone admires. Now, what should you drink first? I spent a lot of years just storing the ingredients.. and now I found a use for them. "

This memory is awful. Yareth remembered how he refuse on drinking all of the potions. He refuse since he knows how they tasted and smelled bad. That time, he hasn't still met his Tutor Levan Septimus. He also doesn't receive any information from his mother about the Beyonders. He just knows that his parents ordered him to drink a foul flavored medicine and then they look at him with disappointment.

What happened next was Yareth doesn't want to remember. His older brother's face twisted in anger.

" Useless! "

The sound of glass shattering.

" Insolent bug! "

Pain on his skin.

" It should be me... "

Yareth can't breathe.

" It wasn't supposed to be you. "

Potion after potion. Not even in proper order.

" Be obedient and drink them all okay? I know they taste disgusting. But I promise that it would be worth it. As long as you become a Sequence 5 Beyonder. "

No more, please...

That day, his parents learned that no potion, sequence, or anything from the black emperor and Justiciar Pathway worked for Yareth.

That was also the last day that he have seen his sixth older sibling Clement Castiya. His brother who he thought that at least cares for him before he formally meet his oldest sibling Wendell and not just took care of him from his hostile siblings behind the scenes. Brother Clement was the one who left birthday gifts from his 1st to 4th birthday.

Yareth has never seen him again. But that day was one of the memories that would be forever etched on his mind. He wanted to truly forget it. But he also can't bear the thought of not remembering them. It was the last memory of the sixth sibling.

Yareth has never seen him again. Never did he even hear any mention of Clement in the castle. Yareth's last memory of him was his expression filled with madness and insanity.

As Yohan finished reading another book in the Yilla, he can't help but find this book disgusting. He wanted this book filled with Yareth's particular memory to burn. That man doesn't to be remembered.

Yohan sighed. Even he wanted it to be burned, in this place, any fire was impossible to form. He then close his eyes, whispers and murmurings echoed inside his mind.

" Keter...Binah...chokhmah.Chesed.Gevurah...Tiferet...Netzach.Hod...Yesod...Malkuth.. "

Yohan scrunched up his face in annoyance.

" Thaumiel...Bagel.Satarial... Ghana Sheblah...Golachab..thagirion....A'arab Zarqa.Gamaliel. Lilith.. "

" Ugh... "

" Da'at... Da'at... Da'at. Da'at. Da'at.. "

Yohan glared.

" Would all of you shut up?! "

" Da'at Da'at Da'at Da'at Da'at.."

Yohan's frustrated voice was ignored. He decided to rest his head on one of the tables in Yilla. He was used to the murmurings of madness and pain. But since Yareth entered the Yilla, it was different. With his presence, there are no murmurings of madness and painful headaches. It was so different with him here. But he can't just be selfish and pull him here forever. It would be also dangerous if this place was discovered. He would endure and omit things if he should.
