AN:I can not even believe it came to an end. I really cried when I wrote this last chapter. When I write a fanfic, I get very attached to the story, and  whit  this story  could not be any different. I am also very much attached to you readers who leave beautiful comments always motivating me to continue, I have a great affection for each one of you ... even for you silent readers, I know you love the story too and anonymously continued with me to the end. Thank you very much to all.

Well in this last chapter a lot happens, so it was so long ... I hope you like it;)

------

Harry should have been happier—his mother had come to see him, tomorrow was the day of the world premiere of his film, he had Zayn, Emma and some good friends. But Harry could not lie to himself…he had never imagined that seeing his father would mess him up so much, and most importantly, he never imagined that he would attach so much importance to it.

"Harry?"

"Hi." Harry replied.

"Your mother is talking to you, my love." Zayn said gently, he knew that Harry's head was somewhere else.

"Sorry…What were you saying, mother?"

"I was telling Zayn how excited I am to watch your movie."

"I'm glad you're here, mom"

"Which one do you think is more beautiful for Harry's movie premier, Anne?" Emma asked with two dresses in her hands. Celine was behind her.

"I think the rose colored one will look lovely on you." Anne answered, and Emma smiled in appreciation. Celine ran after her as she ran to her room. "She looks so much like you, Zayn."

"Really?" Most people don’t think so."

"She is. Maybe she resembles her mother lookwise but from inside, she’s just like you, her personality is so much like yours. And I think that's the most important thing, isn’t it?" Physical appearance changes with time, but essence doesn’t. "

"You are right." Zayn said, smile forming in the corners of his mouth.

"Harry is a lot like me when it comes to physical appearance, but he takes a lot after his dad."

"Mom." Harry stood up as if warning her that the subject was not welcome.

"You never let me talk about your father, Harry. You're a man now, you have a family, you have to overcome that anger." Harry rolled his eyes as Zayn watched him closely. "Your father was so much like you, a dreamer. He dreamed of so much that..." Anne was thrilled to finally have that conversation with her son. She never held any hatred for Daniel. "He wanted to change the world, he wanted to be rich, give the best to us…but at the same time, he never belonged to us." Daniel could never find a place where he belonged, just like you. Every time you told me that you were not happy in London, that it wasn’t where you belonged, I saw things repeating itself again...I saw your father in you. "

"I'm not like him, mother." Harry shouted.

"Harry, calm down." Zayn said, holding his shoulders.

"He's an idiot, and that's never going to change."

"He's your father, Harry." Anne stood up.

"For all the 24 years of my life, I’ve never had a father and I do not need one now. I'm sorry, Mom, but if you think that now you can talk about him just because I met him, you are wrong. He's still a dead man to me."

"Harry..."

"Please don’t." Harry said, leaving the room.

****"

"Emma, don’t run like that, you can get hurt." Zayn shouted from the gate.

"I'm going to tell Monica how the movie was." Emma said, still running.

"I still don’t understand why Mon did not want to go with us." Harry said under his breath. Everyone loved Monica.

The truth is that Monica, along with Liam, had stayed back to arrange dinner.

"What is this, Zayn?" Harry asked, seeing the low lights and some scented candles at the center of the table that Zayn was walking towards.

"I need you, Harry, I'll always need you. I cannot imagine my life without you. I cannot walk without your hand in mine anymore. You are my savior, you were my daughter’s savior. You're the biggest reason of my smiles." Zayn couldn’t contain his tears, neither could Harry. "Without you, I would still be aimless. I will never be able to thank you enough for not giving up on me, for making me believe in myself again, for teaching me to have faith. Zayn slowly bent down, kneeling in front of Harry. "Will you marry me?" Zayn held out a small black box with gold ring. "Do you accept to be a Malik?

"I accept, I want to be a Malik until the end of my life." Harry smiled as Zayn put the ring in his finger.

Zayn placed a small kiss to his lips. And the lights turned on revealing everyone applauding in the room.

Emma ran into Harry's arms and they cried with joy together.

"Will you accept me as from your family, Princess?"

"I've always accepted you. Can I call you dad too?" Emma asked, making Harry cry harder.

"I've always wanted this." Harry cried, kissing all over her face.

****

"By the way, I was late for ordering." Alisha entered the living room with a pout and put her purse on the couch.

"Godmother." Emma ran to her. "Harry and Daddy are getting married."

"Congratulations, couple of the year!" Alisha hugged them both with Emma still clinging to her legs.

"Thank you, but I want you to know that you will always be my favorite sister-in-law." Zayn told her, kissing her cheek.

"I think that's perfect." Alisha smiled as she hugged Zayn. "Ah, now that I remember, Harry doesn’t have any brothers and sisters." Alisha laughed, making Zayn and Harry laugh together.

Louis and Liam came to hug the late guest.

The weather was nice. Everyone was smiling and having fun.

Anne chatted excitedly with Trisha, Celine and Monica. Emma played x-box with Liam and Louis. And, Harry and Zayn fled to their favorite place—the greenhouse.

"You must miss her, right?" Niall asked seeing Alisha looking at her sister’s pictures.

"A lot." Alisha replied without looking at the person who asked her that. "I miss the feeling of being safe and protected, she was like a bodyguard." Alisha smiled thinking about Alison.

"You don’t look like the kind of girl that needs to be protected." Niall said, taking another sip of champagne.

"And what makes you think that?" Alisha asked, finally looking at him.

"I don’t know. You look strong to me, the kind of girl who knows what she wants. You have tiger eyes." Alisha smiled, enjoying the compliment. Niall smiled too. "But if you ever feel insecure and unprotected, I could protect you, if you want."

“Maybe I'm strong enough like you said...."

"Okay then." Niall turned his back on her.

"Where are you going?" Alisha asked as Niall started walking away.

"I know when my presence is not welcome. I am not usually good at flirting. I suck actually." Alisha laughed, making Niall feel embarrassed. "I'm sorry. I need one more of this." Niall lifted the champagne glass while Alisha kept giggling.

"I said maybe I'm strong enough, I didn’t say I didn’t want your company. You're funny." Alisha said taking the glass from Niall's hand. "Beautiful too."

They didn’t say anything else, just let their eyes do the talking.

Maybe the dinner was officially the day of new unions now.

*****

Harry woke up and was surprised to see that Zayn was not in the room. Zayn always woke up after him. Harry put on his clothes and went down the stairs, calling Zayn’s name.

His heart squeezed when he saw Danny sitting on one of the sofas in the living room.

"What are you doing here?" Harry bellowed.

"I invited him, Harry." It was Zayn's voice.

"Why did you do that? You didn’t have the right."

"He thought it would be good for you to talk to me." Danny's voice was low.

"I don’t want to see you or hear your voice. Get out of here." Harry yelled pointing at the door. "Are you not going out? I'll leave then." Harry ran to the door. Danny wanted to go after him but Zayn stopped him.

"Harry!" Zayn shouted, trying to reach him. "Come back here." Zayn grabbed his arm.

"Leave me alone "Harry said, already reaching the big gate. “You didn’t have the right to do that."

"I want the best for you. You helped me when I needed it, Harry. It's you who needs help now, you haven’t been the same since you knew about your father." Zayn felt like crying when he saw Harry looking so wounded. "You helped me with my mother, now it's my turn to help you."

"That’s not the same thing, Zayn. Your mother never left you, your mother loves you. This guy does not love me. He abandoned me and my mother when I was five." Harry started crying. "Do you think everything will be all right again? Do you think that just because he showed up, it will erase my memory of all the years he was not there? You are very dumb if you think that things can change now."

"It's not hard to try. He's here now, he's here for you. That must mean something, Harry."

"It means nothing to me." Harry said dryly, wiping his tears. “Make him go away."

"I want you to talk to him, give him a chance."

"Who do you think you are to tell me what I have to do?" Harry’s words were very rude and piercing. Zayn looked at him sadly for a moment.

"I'm the guy you said “yes” to a week ago." Zayn said, hurt.

“I said “yes” to be with you, Zayn, for our love. It was not for you to think you could bring that idiot into our house." Harry said, turning his back to him.

"Where are you going?"

"Anywhere far from here."

*****

Harry hadn’t come home for two days now.

Zayn called everyone Harry knew, but none of them knew Harry's whereabouts.

 ***

Harry had been in the coffee house for the past hour. His guest was not late, he was the one who was early.

"Have you been waiting a long time?" He heard a thick voice.

"More or less." Harry replied without looking at him. "I just want you to know that I called you here not for you, but for Zayn. I was rude to him when he just wanted to help me." Harry said coldly.

"I understand. He's a good person, you're lucky."

"I know."

Both of them were speechless. Danny didn’t know how to start and Harry wasn’t sure how willing was he to listen.

"I met your mother when I was 8, she was 6. My family had just moved next to her house. Every time my mother, your grandmother Franci, called us because it was late and we had to go back to our own houses, I felt a huge void. I never wanted to say goodbye to her." Danny smiled remembering childhood. Avoiding eye contact, he played with the spoon in his coffee." In second grade, a teacher, whose name I don’t remember now, asked us to write an essay about what love was to us. I still remember perfectly what I wrote. "

"What did you write?" Harry asked impatiently.

"I wrote like this: Love is when you want the night to pass fast, so you get to see 'her' when you wake up." Harry smiled and Danny did too. "I always loved your mother, Harry, your mother was always the person who understood me the most."

"And yet you abandoned us." Harry interrupted him.

"I kissed her when I was 13 and that was the best feeling I have felt in my life. My girlfriend was my best friend, Anne was everything to me. When I turned 15, she climbed up my window to be the first person to wish me. She could have come in through the door, but Anne has always been crazy, in a good way, and that is why I was so in love with her." Harry wept silently, imagining his mother climbing up the window to wish his father. “She gave me a map that day, and that's when I knew she was the woman of my life.”

"A map?" Harry asked curiously.

"Yeah, and that was the best gift of my life after you." Danny took his wallet out of his back pocket. From the wallet he pulled out a map he had kept for all these years and placed it on the table. Harry noticed several cities and countries scratched with a red pen. “She told me she knew I didn’t belong there, that London was not the place for me, and she also knew that my place was not by her side. I told her she was crazy, but we both knew she was right." For the first time that day, Harry looked him in the eye. “Your mother was 17 when she discovered she was pregnant, I was 19. We were two kids, me more than her despite being older by age. I didn’t even have a job, but we never planned on having a kid so young, Harry, never. "Danny quickly placed his hand over Harry's hand which was resting on the table. “Your grandfather wanted to kill me." Danny smiled as he remembered the old memories. "But Anne always had her way to get old Johnny to come around. I loved that old man…" Harry sobbed as he remembered his grandfather who died 4 years ago." He made us get married, and when you were 3 months old, I started working with him in the carpentry. I knew I had to be responsible…feed you, but it was horrible. I always felt like a caged bird, and there I was locked in a cage for 10 hours a day listening to Elvis Presley and the same Johnny jokes every day. "

"They were not that bad." Harry defended his grandfather. He used to tell Zayn his grandfather's old jokes. And now Harry wondered if Zayn found them repetitive too.

"Some were not so bad." They both smiled. "And that's when I started playing. Within the first few months, I got 50 thousand dollars. I bought a trailer and asked your mother to travel the world with me. I think it would have been paradise—me, you, your mother and the world. Fall asleep in one city, wake up in another. "

"I would have liked that." Harry confessed, sincerely showing interest in the conversation.

"You have to tell her that." Harry nodded, smiling. "She called me crazy, said you were a baby, that you needed to go to school. We sold the trailer and bought a small house. I was young and immature but in my own crazy way, I loved you, Harry. I love you." Danny wiped his tears. "Then I ran out of money and I quit your grandfather's carpentry. The games became frequent until one day I got into a big trouble. I owed a lot of money, they wouldn’t let me play anymore. I felt like I no longer had wings, I was trapped once again. Then I found a new place where they made smaller bets. I asked for money from your mother but she refused. One day when she fell asleep, I went to her little box, her cash box.” Danny was now crying heavily, not caring about the tears that fell furiously. "Your mother had saved that money for your needs, your emergencies. The whiskey glass in my hand fell and I think that's why she woke up." Danny buried his face in his hands, crying uncontrollably. Harry was crying too. "Nothing has ever been more painful in my life than to see the disappointment in your mother’s eyes when she saw me with that money in my hands. That’s when I realized, Harry, you didn’t need me. You deserved someone better than me. So I left, with nothing in my hand besides the map that your mother gave me." Harry shifted his gaze towards the map.

"Have you visited those places?"

"Yes, I did, as a promise to your mother."

"And how do you have all those pictures of me in your wallet?"

"I kept in touch with your mother. She sent me letters, pictures, videos of you...your presentations at school."

"You never wanted to come back? You never wanted to see me?"

"Every day of my life. I was so fond of you, I am fond of you. Your mother will always be the woman of my life, but I was weak, a coward. I was afraid you would reject me. I always wanted to be in your life, even if was just as a friend."

"Why were you standing outside Lindsay's house?"

"Because I knew Emma was important to you, I knew Lindsay was a little crazy in the literary sense. That was a way I found to be in your life, protecting you, loving those you love."

"If I had not found out....would you have told me someday?"

"Probably not." Danny said sincerely. "You do not need me. You have your friends, your mother, your family. How important could the father who abandoned you be?"

"Can I ask you something?" Harry asked, getting up. Danny nodded. "Can I give you a hug?"

"Yes, of course." Danny smiled with tears. "I love you, son." Danny hugged him tight.

"Promise you will not leave me again?" Harry asked.

"I promise. I promise, my son."

****

"Louis, I need you to do this for me, please." Harry begged.

"Listen here, Harry, you disappear, you leave my best friend worried...And now you want me to help you?" Louis asked from the other side of the line.

"I called him last night, I explained myself. I was confused, I was hurt. But now I have made up with my father. Zayn knows everything."

"Good for you, Harry."

"You will help me? I called at the house, I asked Monica for help too. I wanted to ask Liam but he was not home."

"Liam is here with me."

"Liam is with you? At 7 in the morning?" Harry asked smiling. He always rooted for them, as did Zayn.

"Okay, Harry, what do you want me to do?" Louis asked, ignoring Harry's question.

"I need you to get Zayn out of the house, and since Liam is with you, I need him to pick my mother up from the airport. Her flight is landing at 6:00 pm. Don’t let Zayn know. You can go back with him to the house at night. Alisha and Niall are coming to my father's apartment to pick me up, they'll help me sort everything out. "

"They look beautiful together. They are always together these days.”

“Yes, inseparable. I'm happy for them."

"Me too." Louis smiled. "I'll get Zayn out then, see you later."

"Hey Louis" Harry said before Louis hung up. "I'm happy for you too."

"Thank you, curly. Thank you for bringing him back, I love you."

"I love you too."

*****

"You're still going to have to explain why my brother slept at your house, Louis. Don’t think you don’t owe me an explanation." Zayn said playfully, as he drove through the gate of his mansion.

"I'm going, I just want Liam to be with me."

Zayn got out of the car and saw Harry standing in front of the greenhouse in a white suit. The garden lights were off, but there was plenty of light coming from the stove. Harry's white suit shined Zayn's eyes. Harry looked like an angel.

"Are you ready, Zayn?" Harry asked, reaching out for him. Louis stepped into the conservatory and joined the others.

"Ready for what?" Zayn asked, scared, his eyes looking around the greenhouse.

"Ready to spend the rest of your life with me?" Harry let a single tear of happiness fall on his face. "If you say yes, nothing else will separate us."

"I've always been ready for you." Zayn replied kissing his lips quickly.

"Think carefully, before we enter the greenhouse, if you can accept me with all my faults, all my insecurities, my jealousies..."

"Every single faults of yours were made for me." Zayn smiled, Harry smiled too. "Do you want to get married here? I was thinking of a big ceremony, a better place..."

"I don’t care about the party. All the people who are important to us are right here." The place doesn’t matter either, Zayn. What matters is the feeling." Harry lightly presses his forehead against Zayn’s. "And besides, this place is very important to us. I don’t know if you remember, but this greenhouse was the reason we had our first fight, and it was also here we made peace and I started coming to your house. And right here in this greenhouse you kissed me for the first time.

"Really this is the ideal place for us to get married." Zayn smiled. "I love you for coming up with this idea."

"And you know why I think it's ironic?" Harry asked, moving away from him. "When we just started getting to know each other, you told me that the greenhouse was Alison and your place. But I think now it's also mine and yours."

"It's ironic indeed...Besides being ironic, I think this is the way Alison is blessing us. I feel that she's happy for us."

"I feel it too."

They pressed their foreheads together again, sensing the floral smell that was not coming from the greenhouse…it was Alison's smell. They both felt her presence, happy that they had the most beautiful guardian angel watching over them.

*****

"I declare you married." Everyone cheered. "I almost forgot, you may kiss"

Harry and Zayn kissed, and all the guests threw flower petals at them, instead of following the tradition of throwing rice.

The Lumineers' Ho-Hey started playing in the background.

"That song?" Zayn asked.

"Yes, I belong to you, you belong to me." Harry placed a kiss at his neck. "It was the song that was playing the first time we went to karaoke together."

"I remember it."

"Of course you do. You remember all the small details just like me... But I'm the one to say them out loud."

"I love you so much."

***

Harry and Zayn returned from their honeymoon in Hawaii two weeks after their wedding.

****

Some things had changed in the mansion. Emma had a Labrador (she named it Allie) she got from her ‘grand Danny’ as she likes to call him.

Niall and Alisha were now frequent visitors. Niall still loved Monica's mashed roast chicken, loved it so much that he would eat all the food in his plate in no time and still steal potatoes from his girlfriend, Alisha's plate. She would argue at first but then laugh.

Liam didn’t live in the mansion any more, he and Louis decided to move in together. They still fight like they always did. (Maybe some things were not so different.)

Celine had resigned from being Emma’s nanny. She wanted to go back to study and become a professional architect in the future. Emma never stopped saying that no one could match her clothes like Celine, no matter how many times Harry tried to do his best. They were all sad when she left the mansion. Everyone loved her very much but they also wanted the best for her, and if architecture was what she wanted to do, so be it. Zayn wished her success in her new endeavor, and promised to help any way he could.

Monica still lived in the house at the back of the mansion. She could never leave the Malik's, because in no other place would she feel so loved. She visited Trisha a lot, the two of them hanging out almost every weekend. Zayn liked the idea of his "two mothers" having fun together.

Danny had a room in the mansion for every time he returned to Los Angeles. Anne sold her small house in London and bought a trailer as it was meant to be from the beginning. Anne had no more children to take care of, and decided to travel the world with the only man she had loved all her life—Danny, or rather, your Daniel.Harry was very happy to see his parents together again.

Zayn went back to acting, and Harry left. Harry used to believe that being an actor was what he wanted but he does not think so anymore. His place is in the mansion next to Emma, cooking pancakes and other dishes he learned from the show “Cooking with the Stars” that he watches every morning. Harry and Emma sometimes go to Zayn's recordings at Hollywood studios.Harry and Emma also go to the hospitals every week. They tell stories to the children with cancer, nothing makes them happier. And every Thursday they visit “The Maliks’ Foundation”. It was created by Harry to help the children abandoned by their parents. In Vogue magazine’s top 10 celebrity families list, the Maliks were in the first place. Harry and Zayn didn’t care about their list though, or even that side of fame. But they were happy that society had finally accepted a homosexual relationship. Becoming civil rights ambassadors was not so difficult.

Oh, and of course I will not keep you guessing what happened to Lindsay.

The bad tongues say she's working as a housekeeper at a house in Los Angeles. Mr. Scott finally filed for divorce after the investigators working for him caught her and Isaac in bed. The divorce was finalized with Lindsay not getting even a single penny as per the adultery law. Some people get what they deserve, don’t they?

****

"Are you sure about this, Emma?" Harry asked.

"Of course, I'm going to be a writer. I'm going to write your story one day, our story"

"If that's what you want." Harry and Zayn kissed her forehead and laid her on the bed.

This is how every day in the Malik household ended, with Zayn and Harry putting Emma to sleep, and sitting in the same small armchair that hardly fit a person.

"The three of us?" Harry asked Zayn, looking at Emma.

"Until the end." Zayn replied with Harry in his lap. "Forever."

Harry hugged him and they looked at Emma together. Because, as far as I know, real happiness is in the little things.
