Chapter 12.1

18:58, 31 January 2023

Kat's P.O.V.

LAST NIGHT AFTER I ESCORTED Lydia home I took out my main grimoire to find something that could help me with a locator spell without DNA. Not like I had not known everything that was in there since I wrote it, but I was still looking for some sort of false hope that could help me, and us. After spending my whole night and day looking through not just that one but every different spell book, meaning all the fifteen I had currently with myself, the afternoon came. I haven't had not even one blink of a sleep, so my sleep deprived self found herself in the kitchen to make coffee. While I let it brew I headed to the bathroom for a quick shower. As I was done and dressed the sweet smell of the black liquid found its way to my nose. At least there was a drop of serotonin for me in the morning, and most likely for the whole day. After downing the substance in its plain black form, not bothering with the burning sensation in my throat, I poured the remains of it on my thermos and I went to the basement to my blood bag stash, which I got from a hospital raid from before the spring break. And no, it was from the hospital in the town next to Beacon Hills.

Grabbing my keys I got into my car and to the school to attend the end of the lacrosse practice, since Finstock had some papers for me that I needed to sign apparently. After parking and grabbing my bag I headed to the locker room, where I saw Isaac and Scott.

"Morning." I said to them quietly, taking a sip from my coffee.

"Good morning." they slowly at the same time "Not to be rude, but you look like shit." Isaac stated the obvious.

"Thanks for the brief observation, now that you mentioned it, I haven't seen a mirror all day." I smiled at him sarcastically. "Had a busy night..." I murmured as I massaged my temples " And day. You guys found anything? A plan maybe?" I asked lowly, but just before they could answer Noah stepped to us.

"Good afternoon, Miss." he said it only to me, and I just assumed he already talked to the boys before I came in.

"Sheriff." I nodded with a small sigh and a stepped back so he could talk to the boys alone, although I still heard every single word.

"Well..." the man cleared his throat "I still got the meet with the medical examiner and try to figure out what happened with Jackson." he loudly sighed "I've got an APB out on Stiles. His Jeep is still in the parking lot, so that means... Well, I don't know what that means. Um... Look, if he answers his phone, if he answers his emails, if either one of you see him-..."

"We'll call you." Isaac finished his line of thoughts.

"Look, he's probably just freaked out from all the attention or something. We'll find him."

"Come, back be up." suddenly Coach took a hold of my shoulder, pulling me with himself, back to Scott and Isaac. "McCall." he spoke to the boy as he let go of my shoulder. "We need you on the team, okay? You know I can't put you on the field next season if you don't get your grades up." he sighed.

"Yeah, I know, Coach."

"All right." he licked his lips as he looked down, and after a moment of pause he continued "I mean, I know, I yell a lot, but it's not like I hate you guys." he looked at me with reassurance and I just nodded with a small smile which was genuine "Well, I kind of hate Greenburg, but you know, that's different. It's Greenburg." I couldn't help but I snorted at him, quickly trying to mask it with a cough "I'm just saying we..." I looked at him with a glare, signaling to correct himself since he's the one doing the speech "I need you on the team. Get your grades back up."

"I will."

"I know." the man turned around, patting me on the shoulder as he slowly walked away after handing me a paper.

"Is that everyone?" Scott asked while I took a pen out and put the paper against the locker. When I found the small line I wrote my signature on it and walked to the office. After unlocking I dropped it on the table before going back to the boys. To be honest, I haven't even glanced at what the paper said, I just signed it, putting all of my faith in Coach that it was not some kind of a weird agreement. When I got back to them I looked wide eyed at the locker door on the floor.

"You know, Scotty, in your special condition you could have just listen to the fucking lock to hear the clicks, and you could have unlock it without tearing it off." I started rambling just looking at the two.

"Really?" He looked at me surprised.

"Never thought about that? Seriously?" I asked, lifting up my left eyebrow "How are you even alive...?" I said the last part to my myself as he started to look through the clothes.

"You're gonna find him by scent?" asked Isaac.

"Yeah, yeah, both are." he said and looked at me "Are you joining?"

"Don't you have anything with DNA on it by any chance?" I asked but he shook as head, throwing a shirt at me. "I mean... It probably also has DNA on it..." I muttered as he grabbed the pants to himself and handed Isaac a shoe. I would have throw it back at him, but a familiar scent caught my attention. Turning around I saw Derek standing behind us. What are you doing?

"You have to trust me." he thought, as he gave me an apologetic smile while crossing his arms behind his back. I looked at him wide eyed. Please, don't tell me-... I started but his eyes revealed everything. Oh, fucking hell... I let out a loud groan but Isaac and Scott did not bother with me.

"But how come you get pants and I got a shoe?" he asked, simultaneously pointing between himself and Scott. Finally, Scott also noticed Derek as he turned around.

"We need to talk." said the Hale as Peter walked out behind him. I felt like my blood was starting to boil only by looking at him.

"All of us." said the unwanted Hale, then he turned to me with a shit eating grin "That involves you, too. How have you been, Kat?" I clenched my jaw and fists as I tried not to hit him.

"Just peachy..." I groaned, which almost turned into a growl.

"What the hell is this?" Scott asked, not believing what he was witnessing in front of his eyes.

"Second that." I said as I crossed my arms before my chest.

"You know, I thought the same thing when I saw you talking to Gerard at the sheriff's station." Said Derek, earning an eyeroll from me since I knew what the young wolf was actually doing. But Derek didn't need to know about the plan.

"Okay, hold on. He, he threatened to kill my mom. And I had to get close to him. What was I supposed to do?"

"I'm gonna go with Scott on this one. Have you seen his mom?" Peter spoke up. "She's gorgeous.

"Shut up." we said all in unison. "Gross." I added with a frown "Although, she is indeed beautiful." and with that. I immediately earned a glare from Scott and Derek. "Yeah, sorry." I threw my hands up in surrender. "Please, continue."

"Who is he?" Isaac finally spoke.

"He's Peter, Derek's uncle." Scott answered. "Little while back he tried to kill us all and then we set him on fire, and Derek slashed his throat."

"He also killed his niece, he's a manipulative liar, narcissistic, egoistical, and also Satan in a V neck, but that's an insult to Satan." I added.

"Hi." Peter gave Isaac small wave. "And harsh." he said looking at me.

"Don't expect anything else from me when it comes to you." I gave him a sweet smile.

"How is he alive?" asked the McCall boy.

"Look, " Derek started "the short version is, he knows how to stop Jackson. And maybe how to save him."

"Well, that's very helpful, except, Jackson's dead." said Isaac.

"What?"

"Yeah, Jackson's dead, it just happened on the field."

"Okay, why's no one taking this as good news?"

"Because, if Jackson's dead, it didn't just happen." Peter replied. "Gerard wanted it to happen."

"But why?"

"Actually, it could be a lot of things..." I said scratching the back of my neck, realizing that the Hales were right.

"Well, that's exactly what we need to figure out." Peter added as he took a step closer to us "And something tells me the window of opportunity is closing."

"Come closer and I will at least knock you out." I warned him. He put up his hands up in surrender but didn't even budge to step back, which caused me to sigh "Can I?" I said looking at Derek. He also put his hands up, signaling that he's staying out of it and I didn't need anything else as I took a step closer with a wicked smile.

"No, no, no, Katerina, you can stay back." Peter started to back away with slight panic in his eyes, but I kept closing the distance still smiling, also the thought of him using my fake name from a while back made my palms to itch "I'm here in peace you don't need to-" I cut him off as I took a hold of his head and hit it against the locker door with almost full force. I happily let him go as he fell unconscious on the floor.

"I did warn him." I smile turning back around and the two younger boy just stood there, shocked. "You go, I'll catch up with you later." I nodded to Derek as he threw Peter over his shoulder.

"Come." He said to the boys and with that, they were gone. With a loud sigh I took the shirt which was previously in Scott's possession and closed my eyes as I set on a bench.

"You can do it." I said after a loud sigh. "Come on, Kat, you're not that useless. There could be a connection that you can use." I sighed again tightening my grip on the shirt. Vitto Brosche Tarem Car Manifesto Fen. I chanted only in my head when suddenly after five minutes my eyes snapped open, glowing in an unpleasant white color. I started to get visions of the location, but since the target was moving it was little bit harder to pinpoint the exact spot. At least until I saw a board next to the road.

With a load gasp I dropped the spell, putting the shirt back in the locker and fixed the door with magic. After grabbing my thermos I headed to the parking lot and got in my car, only to get going half a minute later.

-----------------------------------

"Stiles!" I yelled through my rolled down window as I saw him walking on the sidewalk. "Thank the Gods, I found you." I sighed in relief when he got in the front seat without me asking him. "How are- Holy shit." I cut myself off when I saw the bruises on his face.

"Yes..." He said quietly as he slowly sunk more into the seat. "Please, can you take me home?"

"Of course." I said as I started the car and after hearing the address I drove in the destination. "Can you tell me what happened?" I asked slowly after a couple of minutes. "You don't have to if you don't want to." I quickly added.

"Why do I have a feeling you already know?" he mumbled with a sigh.

"I only have theories." I corrected. "Do you want to talk?" I asked glancing at him and he just shook his head. "It's okay." a small smile found its way to my lips "But I can heal that if you want to."

"It's good." he shook his head "But I think my dad's gonna have a heart attack..."

"And I think he's just gonna be happy that you're home, in one piece." I said while parking in front of the house.

"You can come in." he turned back to me before he got out. "I mean.. Uh, um.." he cleared his throat "I mean, only if you want to. Since you found me and got me home."

"Maybe another time." I smiled at him "I'm not going to bother you and Noah. But if you want this healed, call me." I added after pointing at his cheek.

"Yeah, maybe I'll take you up on that." he said frowning as he got out and closed the door behind him. I waited until he opened the door and safely got in to Noah, and then I drove myself home.

-----------------------------------

I got myself together in a good thirty minutes, which involved a shower and blood, then got in some fresh clothes, only to be surprised by a sudden text when I started heading to the Hale House.

"Bilinski":Can I still take you up on the offer?

Me:On my way.About 3-5 minutes.

I put my phone in my back pocket as I locked the door and not bothering with the car this time I sped in the direction.

Exactly three minutes later I arrived at the house and knocked on the door, which was couple of seconds later opened by Noah.

"Hey, Kat." he said stepping out of the way "His room is upstairs." he said to me as I stepped in.

"Thank you." I nodded as I went upstairs. He probably told him that I'm coming over. I stopped outside a door which I assumed was Stiles' and knocked on it gently.

"I'm fine, dad."

"Wrong choice of words." I replied and the door burst open "I thought you asked me to come." I gave him a smile.

"Yes... Sorry for calling you dad." he said as he stepped aside, letting me in.

"Believe me, not the weirdest thing I've been called." I grimaced as I headed into the bathroom, assuming I can find a first-aid kit in there. For my relief I found it under the sink.

"What was the weirdest?" he asked from his room as I came back, seeing him sitting on his bed.

"Well..." I thought for a while as I pulled out the rubbing alcohol "My dear existence is weird as it is."

"Will you tell me what you are?" he winced as the alcohol touched his skin. "I'm assuming you found me because of some sort of powers. For the second time I might add."

"I brush it off when Scott can't put two and two together, but I can't believe you haven't figured it out yet." I looked straight in his eyes. "And yes. You're correct."

"A witch?" he asked hesitantly.

"Among other things, but yes." I smiled as I put the cotton ball away.

"What others?" he asked as I tilted his head up by his chin, making his cheek go into a slight pink color.

"Other species." I whispered.

"Like a werewolf?"

"Among another thing, but you're on a good way." I replied as I gently brushed a finger over his bruise "And no, I'm not telling you the third thing."

"So, Sabrina..." I rolled my eyes "Will this hurt like when you got into my head?"

"That only hurt because it wasn't a mutual agreement to invade your mind, and I didn't mark you. That's why. This?" I asked looking through his face "Just a little bit, but at least it will be completely healed." he sighed.

"I could use a distraction..." he muttered under his breath after I closed my eyes concentrating on the healing spell.

"Go for it." I answered carelessly as the process begun and he slightly winced since a pain reduction spell was not involved. The next thing I knew was feeling soft lips brushing against mine as they with some hesitation, but surely closed the remaining distance between us. Our lips slowly moved in sync, almost making me forget to continue the spell, but I didn't stop with either of them. My left hand unwillingly found it's way to the side of his neck, keeping him close as we favored every moment of the exchange.

Just as the healing was done, we were rudely interrupted by someone's voice in my head, making me slowly pull away. We need back up, get your ass to us. Voiced dear Derek.

"I have to go." I whispered on his lips as I glanced at his cheek, noticing that nothing was left from his injury. I pulled my hands away as I slowly straightened my back back up.

"Um..." he cleared his throat "I'm, um, sorry about that, didn't mean to-"

"Stiles." I cut him off "You don't need to apologize." I stated softly "But for now, sadly I'm still teaching in your school..." I frowned. "And I'm not really keen on the whole teacher-student type of thing."

"For now?" he picked up on the most important part of what I just said.

"I was always only a substitute teach." I replied "Now, for once, actually take care of yourself." I added before I vanished into thin air.

When I appeared at my destination a hand grabbed my arm, pulling me behind some type of metal column and covering my mouth with its hand.

"Shh." I looked at the source of the voice only to be met by Peter. I gave him a pointed look as he only pulled me closer, whispering in my ear, so the others couldn't hear him "Just listen, and stay out of it for now. Can you do that?" I nodded and he retreated his hands.

"Bitch..." I muttered as I wiped my lips with the back off my hand and tuned into the conversation which was so important according to the Hale.

"You monster." I heard Chris Argent, probably telling it to Gerard, and a decided on peaking through a hole to actually see them in case I'd need to interfere.

"Not yet." the elder spoke.

"You'd kill her too?" Chris asked in disbelief.

"When it comes to survival, I'd kill my own son! Scott..." the said boy stopped for a moment as he changed back and grabbed a hold of Derek.

"You know he's gonna kill me right after." Derek panted and I sighed slightly. He won't. I voiced in his head much to his surprise. "You'll be an Alpha."

"That's true." said the old man "But I think he already knows that, don't you, Scott? He knows that the ultimate prize is Allison. Do this small task for me, and they can be together." I rolled my eyes. What's with the dramatics in this town? "You're the only piece that doesn't fit, Derek. And in case you haven't learned, there is just no competing with young love."

"Scott, don't."

"I'm sorry, but I have to." Scott said ignoring Derek's pleading as I heard Peter whisper in my ear from behind me.

"You're letting him do it? He's going to kill Derek, isn't it your job to keep him alive?"

"One." I said turning only my head to him "Step back, you're being creepy. Two. He's not gonna die." I said as a matter of fact and turned back to them, seeing as Derek just let go of Gerard's arm after giving him the bite. I crossed my arm in front of me with a mischievous smile which did not go unnoticed by Peter.

"What the-" he started as he noticed the black blood, soon enough, he realized that was what my smile was about.

"What is this?" Gerard asked Scott accusingly "What did you do?"

"Everyone said Gerard always had a plan." he answered "I had a plan too."  he glanced in my direction for a moment and I gave him a wink with a small smile.

"No..." Gerard suddenly took out his pills from his pocket "No. No. No." He examined them before breaking them in his palm "Mountain ash!" and I started to grin. He fell to his knees, blood pouring out of his eyes, nose and ears. His head snapped back as he gasped before eventually he's vomiting the black blood out of his body, almost choking on every drop of it before he dropped to the floor.

"We didn't you tell me?" Derek asked the younger werewolf.

"Because you might be an Alpha, but you're not mine."

"Kill them all!" Gerard shouted out of nowhere as Allison didn't need another word, she elbowed the Kanima in the face before stepping out of its way, or tried as I narrowed my eyes at it, keeping the creature in one place by an invisibly force. And just with that a Jeep came through the wall hitting the Kanima on its way in.

"Did I get him?" I heard Stiles and my eyes went wide. The Kanima jumped on the hood of the car, but before it could get in through the windshield I throw it off the vehicle. Not caring about the danger at all Lydia stepped in front of it, holding a single key in her hand. The creature at the sight of that slowly turned back into a half Jackson-half Kanima hybrid, as he took it from the girl's hand his eyes became normal again. Cure him, young dick and less young dick. I voiced to Derek and Peter at the same time, not caring that I gave the latter one a severe migraine. And just like that they went running towards the boy, stabbing their claws into him from the front and the back. I walked in front of the metal Peter kept me behind and leaned my back onto it, crossing my arms in front of my chest. And I zoned out at that part, not willing to watch a naked Jackson parading around, only to became a werewolf in a short time.

My head snapped up at the loud roar, seeing Jackson being shined on by the headlight fairly covering the part a did not wish to witness. What's with the dramatics again, Nature?! I sighed, resting my head in my right palm before appearing behind a sobbing Stiles.

"You okay?" I asked softly as he turned towards me.

"He scratched my Jeep." he said wiping his nose before he went to his car. As I turned my head with a sigh I was met with a wide eyed, shocked Christ Argent looking straight at me.

"You...? K-..?"

"Hey." I gave him an awkward smile since I managed to avoid him while I was back, at least until now. I cleared my throat as I got a hold of Derek and Peter along with Isaac, taking a notice of the younger Hale's injury before a vanished us all back to the Hale House.
