Chapter 7

02:38, 26 January 2023

Kat's P.O.V.

YEAH, I DEFINETELY WASN'T prepared for following Derek in the night. And most importantly, I had a very strong feeling that whatever he's planning on doing, won't work at all. So after giving him some time to find the creature by itself, by some time I mean twenty minutes, I stayed on the porch just enjoying my sweet time. I wasn't in hurry, mostly because I was naturally faster than him, but I also wasn't just gonna be in the way in his "big fight". Although, I knew when he catches up to him, I was going to already be there. So after twenty minutes I got going, after dropping my invisibility spell.

Took long to find the big-bad-wolf? Not at all. After five or even ten minutes I was already leaning against a stone column, watching him and the Kanima throwing punches and car doors at each other.

"You could help, you know!?" he spoke up to me.

"No, thanks." I replied with a small smile, watching his ass getting handed to him. Just the usual. Suddenly, a car caught my eye when it parked behind my friend, and my eyes widened. No, I didn't miss Chris or any other Argent's at all. When the Kanima tossed Derek behind the column and behind me I got a grab of his shirt and pulled him directly behind it. I placed a finger on my lips, signaling him to shut up as Argent started shooting at the creature. I think that was the whole magazine... I thought after the sound of gunfire stopped.

The next I noticed by just hearing was Chris getting sent with his backwards, his back hitting the column we were behind, then the creature's shrieking after, presumably, being thrown away. I concentrated on the scent for a minute before realizing it was only Scott but then another person's presence shocked me to my core. Gerald fucking Argent. And I thought this night couldn't any worse..! I quickly speeded up Derek's healing so we could get going, and after he was all healed up we stood up from the ground. He looked at me for a minute, non-verbally signaling me to read his mind. I gave him a nod and went straight in.

"You're taking us after it." I heard and I resisted a loud groan just as he grabbed onto me. Hold tight, Dick. I placed my hands around him so I could lift him up a little bit and using my vamp speed we went after it.

"Get going." I said as I put him down outside of the back door of a gay club. He started to head further inside, but when a sudden realization came to his mind he stopped in his tracks and turned back to me.

"You're not coming?"

"I'll keep my distance." I said, and that was enough. He nodded and went to the dancefloor, fully transformed, when people started to collapse on the floor. "Wonderful..." I sighed slightly and became invisible again, in case Scott and Stiles were here, which was more than likely. I watched as Derek slit the Kanima's throat with his claws, not like it would make any difference in my opinion. It didn't even flinch when the bullets contacted its torso.

I sighed when Derek went on his way, but after some consideration I stepped to the creature. I took a hold of it, without being noticed, then using my speed I brought him outside and placed him behind a car. I looked back at the path I came from, only to realize we still left a trail of blood behind. Just as I looked back at the Kanima, instead, I came face to face with a very naked Jackson.

"Nope, I'm not paid enough for this." I threw my hands up looking away and walked to the wall just to get away from it. I mean, him. I waited until Scott came out rushing from the club, so at least I knew not some major weirdo found him naked. Only slight weirdos.

-----------------------------------

My next day was free. I knew that the McCall pack had kidnapped Jackson. Yes, I did. Did I care even a little bit about it? No. Instead, I was flipping through my grimoires at home, still trying to figure out a way to make my hex go absent, but I had no clue what to do anymore. I was weaker than usual because of it and I felt like it was eating me alive. I hate feeling weak. Always did, although.. Did my "weaker state" actually matter in the sense of comparing myself to the other supernatural creatures in town or anywhere else? I don't think so. I was only weak compared to myself, yet, it was still bugging the hell out of me.

After not finding anything for the thirtieth time I kept on with my candle exercise which was combined with meditation. It wasn't that hard or complicated, the name of it says it all. The only you needed to do was one, get in a meditative state after you lit the candles, two, every time you breathe in make the flames go bigger, three, when you breath out slowly drop the candles' flames to there original state. And repeat over and over until you hate everything. And that is exactly what I did.

After a two hours I finally had enough and went down to basement. I opened the large fridge to get a blood bag out and going up I grabbed a glass with it from the kitchen. I filled it up and took my sweet time feeding since I always rushed myself with it and never got to just chill and enjoy it. Well, now was not that time either. When I looked at the clock I realized that school was officially over so a quickly finished the remains of my blood and changed into some different clothes. I knew that when school's out I'm heading to the idiot to see what they're up to with Jackson. And that is what I did.

-----------------------------------

When I arrived I became invisibly and slowly walked closer, trying hard not to step on a twig as I listened in the conversation between Stiles, Scott and Alison.

"Why would he steal the thing if he doesn't even know what's on it?" asked Stiles.

"What if someone else took it?" chimed in Alison.

"Then somebody else knows what he is."

"Which could mean someone's protecting him." said Scott.

"Like the bestiary says, "The Kanima seeks a friend", right?" asked Alison. Oh, darling...

"Okay. Hold on. So, somebody watches Jackson make a video of himself turning into the Kanima, and then just erases part of it so he wouldn't know?" Thought Stiles, which sounded as a legit theory. "I mean, who would do that?"

"Somebody, who wanted to protect him?" as they spoke I walked closer to the van, standing in front of it so I could face the three friends. I crossed my arms and leaned onto it.

"There's something else." Scott spoke up "You said the only thing you found online about the Kanima is that it goes after murderers. What if that's actually true?"

"Well, no, it can't be. Tried to kill all of us, remember?" Well... On second thought? No, it did not.

"I don't know about you two, but I haven't murdered anybody lately."

"Well, I don't think it was actually trying to kill us." voiced Scott "Remember when we were at Isaac's for the first time, it just went right by us, didn't it?"

"You're right, it just went off." conformed Alison.

"And it didn't kill you at the mechanic's garage."

"Well, yeah, but it tried to kill me and Derek at the pool."

"Did it?"

"It would've. It was waiting for us to come out."

"What if it was trying to keep you in?" asked Scott. But why would it keep them in, if it is the one doing the killing?

"Why do I feel se violated all of a sudden?" hesitated Stiles and I almost burst out laughing. Almost.

"Because there's something else going on. We don't know what it is. We don't know anything about what's going on with Jackson or why someone's protecting him."

"Know thy enemy." spoke up Alison. Gerard is already rubbing off on her... "Just something my grandfather said."

"Alright. I got it." spoke Stiles "Kill Jackson. Problem solved."

"He risked his life for us. Against Peter, you remember that?" Ah, what I would have give to see that bitch die...

"Yes, but what did we just find out? He got the bite from Derek. It's funny, how he got exactly what he wanted by supposedly risking his life for us, it's funny." I frowned at his words, Stiles actually got a point there.

"Yeah, it doesn't mean he's still not worth saving." Oh, Scotty... You really remind me of a girl, who also loves to save and change everyone... Only that she's a girl.

"It's always something with him though." Stiles pointed towards the van, but little did he know he pointed straight at me.

"He doesn't know what he's doing." I couldn't listen to their arguing anymore, I let out a quit yawn, trying to stay away from their bickering.

After some time I finally got going, or in other words, I just went for a feeding.

-----------------------------------

I came at the middle of the night, only to see the van's door open and the three looking at the empty sight of if. Great.. Just what we needed, a homicidal lizard on the loose. Hurray!

"I have to tell my father." I heard Alison and a snapped my head at her, my eyes going wide. "He's going to kill someone."

"Okay." said Scott with some hesitation in his voice "Tell him. Tell him everything."

"Scott, I gotta tell mine too." I heard Stiles speak.

"This is all my fault." said Scott. Now, you're not just reminding me, you're actually acting like the Gilbert!

"It's not. But we have to tell them. We're just a bunch of teenagers. We can't handle this."

"You're right."

"How you gonna make your dad believe all this?" Alison asked Stiles.

"I don't know." and as he said that Scott turned around, flashing his yellow eyes in our direction. Cute puppy.

"He'll believe me." Good luck, my guy.
