Chapter 14

06:03, 15 March 2022

Blake was escorted to the lunch room. All of the tributes ate here for lunch, it was a good way to get to know the others. She grabbed a tray and went down the aisle to receive food. After she had her food, Blake examined the room for an empty spot at a table. She saw that Koland was sitting at a table with Eloi, Serpen, Conroy, and Adele. Blake sighed, she didn't want to be anywhere near Eloi. She found another table, It was just the boy from twelve sitting there. She swiftly walked over to him.

"Can I sit here?" Blake asked politely. The dark haired boy looked up.

"I guess..." he mumbled. She took the seat next to him.

"I'm Blake, I'm from district four" Blake introduced herself.

"Did I ask?" The teen scoffed at Blake for trying to be friendly. The brunette furrowed her eyebrows.

"Sorry for trying to make a friend. What is your name? I'll ask so you can avoid the embarrassment of the rude comment you made to me" Blake smirked. This made the boy frustrated, but he decided to respond.

"I'm Phoenix, District twelve. Why do you want to get to know me? At least one or both of us will be dead in a week." Phoenix set his head on the table.

"Because I'd rather know who I killed and suffer with the pain than never know who I killed, knowing that they had a life outside of the games." Blake spoke honestly. This caused him to bring his head off the table, he sat up and glanced at Blake.

"Something is different about you Blake. I don't know what it is, but you're not like the rest of the careers." Blake sighed with relief, she made an ally. Suddenly, a brunette boy approached the two.

"Is it okay if I sit with you guys?" the boy asked nervously.

"Of course" Phoenix welcomed their guest. Blake smiled at the two boys, she was making more friends and allies. This meant she would have an advantage against the careers.

"My name is Tylan, I'm from district seven,"

They both introduced themselves to Tylan. Later on, Una joined them. Then, a dark boy from eleven named Questin joined them.

After training was over, Koland and Blake went back to their living space for dinner. They both stepped in the elevator together, Koland spoke as the door shut.

"The careers and I have a plan. As soon as the canon goes off, we are going to run for the cornucopia. Take as much supplies as we can and run in the same direction as each other. We then hunt the other tributes until we are in the finals." Blake was taken back by his words. She needed clarity on the situation.

"Who is all in this plan again?" Koland sighed and started listing people.

"Adele from two, Serpen from three, Eloi from two, Lalo from one, and Ottilie from one" He responded to her question. Blake scoffed at his choice of allies.

"You're seriously going to trust the careers? They'll kill you as soon as you enter the arena! I don't know about you, but I'd rather take my chances with the outside districts." Koland grew furious, he had planned this out so Blake would be safe in case he died. She would be able to survive if she had the help of the careers.

"I'm sure Finnick would agree with my choices" Koland gritted his teeth. He had become protected over Blake, even if she would be more helpful to him than he to her. The elevator came to a stop. They both walk to the kitchen and take their seats at the table. Finnick and the escort walk into the room. They take their spots at the table. Koland was determined to get Finnick on his side.

"Finnick, Blake doesn't agree with my plan. I'm positive that you will" Koland grabbed his fork and started to eat. Finnick was intrigued.

"Tell me about it..." Koland explained the entire plan to Finnick. The escort was interested as well. He mentioned that the other tributes agreed to it as well. Blake was deemed to fail. Finnick had a smile on his face after the plan was explained fully.

"It's a wonderful idea and plan, there's just one problem" Finnick mentioned.

"What's wrong with it?" Koland asked inquisitively.

"Everyone agrees, except Blake. She can't be apart of the team if she doesn't agree" Finnick smirks. He knew he was right. Blake scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Fine, I'll do it. I'm not killing my friends though, if it gets down to them." Blake wiped her mouth and stood up. She excused herself from the table and went to her room. She took a long deserved shower. She put on her pajamas and went to the living spaces. All the lights were off, Blake decided to go to the rooftop. She pressed the elevator door, and she stepped inside. It brought her up to the top; she stepped out, but noticed a human figure sitting by the ledge. Who was it? She walked closer to them.

"Seems like there isn't any privacy in the capitol." the voice spoke.
