Chapter 6

A week had gone by; Finnick was one of the only tributes alive, thanks to the bucket load of sponsors he had. It was day 7 in the arena. Finnick had been gone for 11 days already. Blake was only allowed to watch this year's game because he was in it. It was painful to watch, her best friend was in the arena and probably won't come back. Clay and Blake comforted each other, only 4 tributes were left. A boy from 1, a boy from 2, and both tributes from 4. Adella and Finnick had immediately teamed up since they knew each other the best. Tiberius, the boy from 2; was super skilled and scared Finnick. The entire family, including Finnick's family, sat around the television. They were all rooting for their blonde fishing boy to come home. They watched as a trident fell from the sky, falling into Finnick's arms. It was perfect, Finnick could easily win his games with it. Adella looked at him curiously.

"You gonna use that? Or are you gonna toss it aside like the other sponsors' gifts?"

"Calm down, I'll use it; I'll use it" Finnick hushed her. Suddenly, A boy from district 2 was behind them. Before the boy can speak, Finnick stabbed him with his trident. Adella's mouth fell. She realized that Finnick was now even more lethal than he already was. Adella needed to be careful, Finnick could stab her any moment. They headed towards the cornucopia, before getting an announcement from the head game maker.

"Attention to the last remaining tributes, there will be an arena shrink. You must get to the cornucopia before the time runs out. If you fail, you will be killed. Good luck, you have three minutes." The voice faded out. They could hear the timer start.

"Run!" Finnick sprinted towards the woods, with Adella behind him. They ran through bushes and branches, not caring if one scratched them. Finnick ran up a hill, trying to not run out of breath.

"We have to keep running!" Adella yelled behind him as he slowed down. Finnick tried to pace his running, but time was running out. They had 45 seconds left, they were almost to the middle.

10, Finnick jumped over a log.

9, Adella followed pursuit.

8, he ran straight through a bush.

7, She did the same.

6, Finnick sprinted to the cornucopia.

5, Adella ran out of breath. She layed in the grass for the last four seconds.

The timer went off, no cannon. Where was the last tribute? Tiberius must have survived. Finnick gripped his trident. Adella realized what this meant, he was still alive. Suddenly, Tiberius ran from behind the cornucopia, he charged at Finnick with a machete. They swung their weapons at each other, Finnick was knocked to the ground. Adella attacked Tiberius, she was easily thrown to the ground. Finnick got back up, he stabbed his shoulder. Tiberius' arm started to gush blood, he tackled Finnick to the ground. Finnick groans from impact. Tiberius threw punches at the blonde boy. Finnick's nose started to bleed profusely. Finnick rolled Tiberius onto his back, he punched Tiberius in the stomach. This causes him to cough up blood. Tiberius throws Finnick off him. He grabs his Machete, Finnick grabs his trident. They battle each other, Tiberius gets punched by Finnick. This allows him to stab Tiberius. A cannon goes off as he falls to the ground. Finnick looks down to see Adella. She stands up.

"I guess this is goodbye" she smiles.

"Goodbye" Finnick agrees.

Adella grabs her knives, she goes in for the stab. Finnick was too quick, he stabbed her first in the stomach. Adella falls to the ground, leaving Finnick alone.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present to you the winner of the 65th Hunger Games."

The entire family cheered as Finnick raised his trident. Clay and Blake hugged each other tightly. Their best friend was coming home. Little did they know, he wouldn't be the same.
