Chapter 3
06:23, 6 April 2022After Glenn had gotten yelled at, he went inside to apologize to Blake. He said he was sorry for criticizing her for her age. He even had to say: "ok, you're smarter than me." to her several times. Blake enjoyed the compliments she had received. Later on, Mr. Grey had gotten home. Blake jumped off the sofa and leaped into her father's arms.
"Daddy! You're home! How was work?" she asked him with curiosity. He chuckled at her amusement of his day. Dinner was finally ready. Mrs. Grey had called the three boys to the table. Clay hugged his father and then sat at the table. They all said their prayers and ate. Blake hadn't really known Finnick, she was very curious about him.
"Finnick, do you have any siblings?" Blake asked. Clay and Glenn looked at her confused.
Finnick smiled a bit due to her question, "No, it's only me, my dad, and my mom."
Blake nodded, taking in the information. She found Finnick quite boring, since he answered her with small sentences.
After Finnick left the house, Blake made a comment, "He's amusing."
The entire family snickered.
A year had passed, it was Blake's first day of school. She was super excited to learn everything there was to learn. When she got to her class, she realized she didn't know anyone there. Blake started to panic. What if she didn't make any friends? She pushed the thought out of her head. She glanced at all of the kids as they skipped into class. Blake felt lonely, she hated the feeling. When class had ended, she didn't know anyone yet. Everyone had already found friends, except Blake. She didn't really make an effort, she thought they would walk up to her and ask her to be their friend. Blake realized that wasn't how it worked. She soon spotted Clay and Finnick, and she skipped to them.
"Hey Clay! How was your day?" she smiled, hoping to start a conversation.
"Good, how was yours? Did you make any new friends?" he asked. Blake frowned at the question; she shook her head.
Finnick spoke, "it's ok, it's only your first day. Besides, who needs friends when you've got us?" This made Blake smile. The trio walked the rest of the way home together.
After this day, Blake had grown to enjoy Clay and Finnick's company. By the end of the year, she still hadn't made any friends in her class. This had shaped Blake to be more independent. She started playing more with Clay and Finnick. She would go on fishing trips with them and help them with school projects. This made Blake more knowledgeable.
Blake had soon realized that kids in her class were developing a crush on her friend and brother. They would try and become friends with her so they could come over to her house to get a glimpse at the infamous Finnick Odair and Clay Grey. Blake would get frustrated easily and started getting into fights at school. Several times she was told off by her parents. They didn't understand what she was going through. If only they could see and hear what was going on. Blake wanted true and real friends. Clay, Finnick, and Blake started creating nicknames for each other. They couldn't come up with nicknames for the boys, only Blake's stuck.
"How about Blake raider?" Clay suggested.
"Ew! That sounds like a creepy alien army" Blake admitted.
Finnick had like adding prefixes and suffixes to names, it made it sound cooler. One of his favorite words was bibliophile.
"What about Blake-O-Phile? We learned about prefixes and suffixes in school, and it kinda works" Finnick blushed.
"I like it! What do you think, Blake-O-Phile?" Clay commented
"Ok." was her response.
