TW // Mentions of ED, HorrorSong Guide: Freaks by Surf Curse

The loud cheers erupted from the crowd of students in the stands. All the cheerleaders waited outside of the gym, preparing for their routine. Victoria loved the thrill of a performance, but for some reason this time around her mind was elsewhere. She had been concerned about one of her closest friends, Chrissy Cunningham, who was also a fellow teammate on her cheer squad.

The blonde girl had a paler tone to her skin then usual, dark bags under her eyes, and her cheeks were too hollowed almost as if she hadn't eaten anything in days. Victoria had known in the past that her friend struggled with an eating disorder, but she never seemed to talk about it ever. The only reason she had found out about it was the various times Chrissy left after a meal to go to the restroom, Victoria was quick to put the pieces together.

It was hard being a cheerleader, when the constant demand was to be skinny and pretty. At times she too found herself struggling with her own image. Although, thanks to her best friend, Eddie Munson, she was quick to be pulled out of those thoughts. She was never one to do drugs or be in his type of crowd, but strangely enough the two of them being friends just made the most sense. Not to mention how close her little brother was to Eddie. Dustin never fails to mention their Hellfire Club to her, and how he wishes she would join them as she would be an unstoppable player.

She was just not meant to be in that group of theirs, even Eddie had told her so. Matter of fact, she didn't really specifically belong in any group. Victoria was the type of person who just went with the flow of things. It was more of a fluid flow whomever she decided to hang out with.

Victoria's thoughts vanished as soon as she felt herself be dragged by Chrissy into the gymnasium. Flashing her brightest smile glancing around at her classmates and teachers cheering. Her only focus was making sure that Chrissy would make it through the routine safely. Attempting to glance at her friend occasionally, making sure she was okay. Chrissy was always the front and center on the team, so it was crucial that she didn't make a mistake or the cheer captain would have her head on a platter.

There was one thing Chrissy was good at, it was faking it till you did not have to. She had the biggest smile on her face, yet her eyes were painfully struck with something unknown to Victoria. She had wished her friend would open up to her more, but there wasn't much she could do when her friend was so far gone in her own mind.

The cheer routine coming to a close, the whole team did their final stunt as the song ended. Victoria hooked her arm in her friends as they continued their fake smiles to the crowds taking their spot in the front of stands as the basketball team made their way out. "How are you feeling?"

Chrissy caught by surprised from the question quickly responded, "I'm fine, Vic. You don't have to do this every time we perform."

Victoria frowned at her dismissal of her kindness. She sighed as she brought her attention to the speech Chrissy's boyfriend had been giving. "Chrissy, I love you, babe."

Of course, Jason Carver, never missed an opportunity to glorify his girlfriend in public. She glanced as Chrissy blew him a kiss. It was quite disgusting how public they were.

She wanted to be supportive for her friend's relationship, but there was something odd about her boyfriend. Something she couldn't quite put her finger on. He was the type of person who seemed to be oddly too perfect, which she despised. Every person had their flaws, but with him it was as if every part of his life was spotless. It annoyed her.

Chrissy caught on to her friend's annoyance as she laughed, "When are you going to warm up to him, he's not half that bad I promise."

Victoria rolled her eyes, "Isn't it a bit odd that he's too Mr. Perfect?"

Chrissy laughed at her friends commentary as they were brought to applaud for the Basketball team's announcement of the championship game being tonight. Her eyes fell on the panicked look of Lucas Sinclair, standing beside his fellow teammates. She knew what that look was for. he would have to miss Hellfire tonight with Dustin and Mike. Quickly, looking back into the crowd looking for Dustin. She caught his disappointed eyes as he met hers.

Her brother shaking his head in annoyance towards her as she mouthed, Sorry, towards him.

They had all been dismissed as she followed out the gymnasium beside Chrissy and her boyfriend. Him being quick to proudly throw his arm around her, the typical jock and cheerleader relationship. The flashy relationship that everyone wish they had, everyone but her. Catching glimpse of Eddie's curly hair and typical jean jacket, she immediately said her goodbyes to Chrissy and walked quickly to her other friend.

Eddie had his hands on Victoria's shoulders, pushing her through the cafeteria. She had to apologize to those he was making her run into until they finally made it to the table his friends were sitting at. He grabbed a chair spinning it around as he motioned for Victoria to sit. She rolled her eyes at him as she latched her hands onto the seat knowing that he wanted to move it from underneath her.

He laughed as he plopped into the seat that was at the head of the table. Pulling out the magazine he typically read on days Hellfire was to meet. Clearing his throat for all of his friends to hear around him.

"The Devil has come to America", he read in an oddly deep voice.

Victoria struggled in containing her laughter, bringing up her cardigan to cover her mouth as she listened.

"Dungeons and Dragons, at first regarded as a harmless game of make-believe, now has both parents and psychologists concerned."

"Oh, yes because all those who play are absolutely insane.", Victoria teased.

Eddie frowned as he smacked her with the magazine for interrupting him. "OW!"

"You rudely interrupted me!", he claimed.

She rolled her eyes laughing as she motioned for him to go on.

"Studies have linked violent behavior to the game,"

Victoria perked up pointing between him and her, "EXHIBIT A!"

Only to be met by the same response of Eddie smacking her again with the magazine. "Hey!"

"Shhh!"

She groaned in response as he proceeded, "saying it promotes satanic worship,"

"ritual sacrifice,"

"sodomy,"

"suicide,"

"and even..."

Eddie paused as he dramatically slammed the magazine onto the table. Now staring at Victoria and his other friends with a crazy look in his eyes. "Murder!"

They all laughed together. Victoria glanced upwards seeing her brother off in the distance staring at them with Mike right beside them. The two of them were nervously talking amongst themselves. She had a feeling she knew what they were nervous about. Waving for them to come join them as Dustin frowned at her not ready to walk over.

The two boys joined their table as Eddie was busy talking about how they were all considered freaks for playing Dungeons and Dragons.

Victoria laughed as she pointed to everyone at the table, but herself, "Speak for yourself."

Eddie leaned towards her, "Sorry to break it to you, Queen Victoria, but as long as you're friends with me you're a freak too."

"You wish!"

He proceeded to stand on the table flailing his arms like a maniac. Eyes were now all on them as Victoria pulled her cardigan over her face in embarrassment. "He's doing it again!"

"But as long as you're into band, or science,", he proceeded to yell in the cafeteria.

Victoria was now sinking in her chair with her cheeks quickly turning red. She motioned for him to get down as he walked past her ignoring her hands.

"or parties", he began to sneer now looking at the basketball team, "or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets!"

Jason stood up from where he was sitting growing obviously annoyed with Eddie, " You want something, freak?"

Eddie in response put devil horns with his fingers on his head as he stuck his tongue out like a mad person to the captain of the basketball team leaving him to roll his eyes. Jason noticed the brunette girl hiding away at the table with the so called 'freaks' of the school. He shook his head at her in disapproval. Victoria proceeded by flicking him off with a sneer smile on her face as he walked off in annoyance.

What she did know is that she never chased for the approval of others especially not from the pain of the ass, Jason Carver. Her attention was brought to her baby brother now speaking.

"So, uh speaking of monsters,", he nervously said towards Eddie.

Here we go, she thought to herself.

"Lucas has to do his, uh, balls-in-laundry-baskets game."

If she hadn't sunk further enough into her chair prior to the embarrassment of Eddie's proud speech, she was now pulling herself deeper in her chair.

Dustin was now doing his nervous giggles in between his words, "So... he's not gonna be able to... make it to Hellfire tonight."

The young cheerleader could feel the silent rage exhume from Eddie's body as the smile that was on his face had completely disappeared. If there was one thing he hated most, it was when people baled on his plans. Especially, if it was Hellfire. Everyone remained quiet, nervously glancing around each other.

Dustin meeting the eyes of his sister, seeking for her help. She shook her head at him knowing not even she could prevent Eddie from getting upset.

"And I know there's no way we can beat your sadistic campaign without him.", Dustin continued.

Victoria cocked her head to the side curious to what her brother was going to say.

"So, me and Mike, we were talking, shooting the shit,", he glanced back over to his sister, "and were thinking that maybe we might have my lovely sister take Lucas's place."

Victoria's jaw dropped with an angry glare towards Dustin now. "Dustin, you obviously know I am not your failsafe for this shit. I got the basketball game too or did you forget I was a cheerleader?"

"Vic, please we need another player."

"First off, don't call me that. Second off, no. AND third off, NO!"

The two siblings began to bicker at each other as they both were now getting into each other's faces across the table. Eddie in annoyance grabbed both of their heads and shoved them down into their seats. He let out an agitated sigh, "You saying Sinclair's been taken in by the dark side?"'

Mike finally spoke, "Uh, something like that."

Eddie threw the pecan he was about to eat at Mike's head, "Something like that?"

Dustin muttered getting hit by the pecan that bounced off of Mike's head, "Jesus Christ!"

Chrissy had ran into the cafeteria looking for Victoria. "Oh, God.", Victoria muttered under her breath.

She already knew by the look on her friends face that there was an emergency cheer meeting. "And on that note", she pointed at Dustin and Mike, "You two are on your own with him."

Dustin groaned, "Ugh, you always choose your pom pom friends over me!"

Victoria messed up her brother's hair and said, "Hey, you'll find someone, Rug Rat."

"Yeah, okay, Twinkle Toes."

Those had been nicknames they gave to each other at a younger age. Her's coming from the fact she had to forcefully grow out of walking on her toes when she was younger, and his being the fact that he had looked like the rugrat baby when he was born. At first it was to annoy each other, but now they had been common names they would find themselves saying to one another casually.

She laughed at her brother as she ran off to meet Chrissy.

Nightfall was met with the excitement of the night as both the infamous championship game was to take place and Hellfire. Victoria was stationed at the entrance of the gym with another cheerleader to greet all of those who were here to watch the game. The brunette girl's eyes fell onto the boy she sought who was the most annoying to exist, Steve Harrington. He was walking her way with his immense hair and poorly grown mustache.

Steve was known as the golden boy at Hawkins. Every girl wanted to be with him. Every girl, but Victoria. She had grown to dislike the boy and his cocky attitude after he had embarrassed her and Chrissy freshmen year. It was safe to say she pretty much hated him, up until he had befriended her little brother which was a strange action. Not in a million years, would she have ever imagined Steve to be the type of person to be friends with someone so much younger than him and in particular a major dork.

This friendship sprung up onto her randomly which meant she had to be nice to Steve in the presence of her younger brother. Dustin had practically begged her to be kind to his new friend. She did, however, found a loophole to the promise she had made to her brother. She only had to be nice to Steve in the presence of Dustin, other than that it was a free shot at the brunette boy.

His eyes met hers for a brief second as the two of them greeted each other with a scold on their face. He was being accompanied by a curly hair blonde that she recognized to be Brenda Stewart, one of the dumbest girls in school. Victoria swore that she never met a person so clueless to everything around her.

The two of them were approaching towards the entrance as Victoria purposefully dropped her smile at the boy across from her. "Harrington."

Steve gave her a fake smile, "Henderson."

The blonde girl beside him had a clueless smile on her face as she waved at Victoria. The cheerleader giving the girl a false smile and wave in return. Brenda walked inside as Steve had been staring at the brunette girl.

"What?'

"Where's Mini Henderson?"

She glanced behind him and back to him, "Hellfire."

Steve nodded as he laughed, "Such a dork."

She squinted her eyes at him, "No."

He frowned, "No? No, what?"

"You don't get to call him that."

He scoffed, "You call him that all the time!"

"Yeah. Well, I'm his sister and I can call him that."

He rolled his eyes at her, "Whatever you say, Henderson."

Victoria crossed her arms over her chest in annoyance, "Don't you have a date to shove your tongue down her throat or something?"

Steve widened his mouth in shock offended by the girl, "At least I can get a date."

She lifted her brow in a challenging way, "Yeah, cause you sure know how to pick them right?"

"Brenda's a pretty girl!", he insisted in a way to convince himself of.

Victoria laughed, "Pretty and dumb, just like you."

In this moment it had seemed like fumes were coming out of his ears as he fled from the girl irritated, running after Brenda who had made it to the stands already. She smiled to herself feeling accomplished.

The girl across from her had been eyeing her down carefully. "What do you want, Amanda?"

The other cheerleader shrugged her shoulders, "Nothing..."

She walked over to Amanda as the last bit of people walked into the gymnasium. "No, please enlighten me. You never not have anything to say."

The auburn haired girl waved her finger between Victoria and where Steve had been, "That's some tension... you two got there."

Victoria bursted into an attack of laughter, "Good one, Mands!"

Amanda furrowed her brows, "It wasn't a joke."

The two girls were soon interrupted by Chrissy walking in between them. She had the same pale look from earlier in the day, almost as if she had seen a ghost. Her face completely blank. "Chrissy?"

The blonde girl walked past them, completely ignoring the two cheerleaders. Victoria and Amanda glanced at each other with a confused expression on their face.

"Hey, why don't you go to the other girls and I'll go see what's up.", she motioned for Amanda to go inside.

She did so as Victoria followed behind her friend, "Chrissy, what's going on? You've been acting so strange all day today!"

Her friend remained quiet. She places her hand on her friend's shoulder, "Chrissy?"

The blonde girl gasped in a way as if she had been pulled out of a dream. Now trembling in fear, she turned to look at Victoria pulling in her for a hug. Being caught off guard at the motion, she simply followed through and wrapped her arms around her. "Hey, everything's okay."

Falling even more concerned for her friend, she demanded answers. As soon as Chrissy was ready to pull away from the hug, Victoria looked at her with a serious inquisitive stare. "Okay, are you going to tell me what's wrong?"

Chrissy opened her mouth wanting to say something, but then soon closed it. The brunette girl sighed. "Fine, don't then.", proceeding to walk away from the blonde girl annoyed.

Hawkins took the win in the championship with Lucas Sinclair scoring the winning point. Victoria broke out into excitement for the younger boy knowing all his friends hadn't shown to the game. She was pretty close with all of her brother's friends which included Lucas. She cheered on for the boy as so did the rest of the crowd.

As people began exiting the gym, she had somehow been pushed up against Steve through the double doors. She rolled her eyes at him as he sneered, "Well, if it isn't you again."

This time he had ditched Brenda and was now with one of his closet friends, Robin. Victoria liked Robin more than she did Steve. She, for one, was actually funny, unlike the tall boy. Robin was just more of a fun person to be around and they both shared in the beauty of sarcasm.

Robin nodded her head towards her, "Hey, Vic!"

Holding back the cringe from the horrific old lady nickname Dustin had accustomed most people around then to call her. "Robin, I hope you knocked some sense into the man slut over here."

Robin holding back a laugh as Steve's jaw tightened. The three of them were still pushed up into each other from the immense amount of people trying to exit all at once. "You really wanna go there, Henderson?"

She challenged the boy, "Try me."

He nodded accepting her challenge, "I don't know, at least I've gotten laid, Virgin."

Her snarky smile had quickly vanished from her face, unappreciative of the joke. It was true. She never had been in a serious relationship with a boy, and if she had been close to doing the deed it has been someone she wished she could escape from in Hawkins.

Steve's face dropped, "Holy shit, are you a virgin?"

Some of the people who had been standing around them began to whisper about what they had heard. Victoria entered into a panic state wanting to escape this already.

Robin intervened, "Steve, the only virgin here is you. She's actually hot, and you..."

Steve frowned at his friend's commentary, but was left with an unanswered question as Victoria had managed to squeeze through people to get away from him.

Finding herself now walking down the road to the screaming teens still cheering on the basketball team. She saw the Hellfire Club exit from one of the side doors, speeding up to meet up to them.

She hopped onto Eddie's back in a surprise as he was quick to keep her up. "Ah, if it isn't the traitor!"

She rolled her eyes at him, "Oh, shut up!"

He laughed, but she noticed there was something off about him. She hopped off of his back as he motioned for the others to proceed as they were all exciting speaking about their victory in the game.

Eddie tugged on Victoria's arms pulling her away from the joyful cheers. "So, um your friend came to me again after school."

She let out an agitated sigh, "Chrissy?"

He pointed at her as she had won a prize, "Bingo!"

"What did she want, more weed?"

He shook his head at her, "The Special K ."

"Shit, something's bad must've happened... She won't talk to me, E."

He pursed his lips together, "My door should be open at my place, go to my room and just wait there. Maybe, you can talk to her?"

Victoria nodded her head, "Okay, I'll see you there."

He nodded as she sped walk to her mom's car that she had borrowed for the night. She looked in the crowd for her brother, but there was no sights of him. Debating if she should go searching for him to tell him to go home with Mike, but she just assumed he would anyways if he couldn't find her.

She drove to Eddie's trailer making sure she parked her car where Chrissy couldn't easily spot it. Making sure the coast was clear, she made her way over to Eddie's trailer. Assuming no one was home, she walked right inside and did what Eddie had told her to do.

Plopping onto his bed, she laid starring wide eyed up at the ceiling running through so many scenarios of how she should confront Chrissy. She hated prying into people's business, but this was called for since she was now worried about her friend. The brunette girl couldn't wrap her mind around what could be tormenting the blonde girl.

Growing inpatient and feeling like her cheer clothes began to itch her skin, she took a dive into Eddie's wardrobe. He was as basic as a grunge boy could be. She had thrown on a pair of his tight ripped jeans and an extra pair of the hellfire shirt he strangely had.

She froze as she heard the blaring music and screeching of tires pull up at the trailer. They had arrived. Panicking she decided to throw herself onto the floor on the other side of the bed. Hearing the vague sounds of Eddie and Chrissy's voice, a moment she never thought twice of happening. Her two friends from different worlds clashing.

Hearing the door open to his room, she shut her eyes. Shit, shit, shit.

"Sorry, I'm late sweetheart."

She opened her eyes in realization it was only her idiotic friend.

"Yeah, why'd you take so damn lo-", peeking her head over his bed to him caressing his precious guitar.

"You're such a weirdo, you know that?", she laughed.

Offended, he attempted in covering the ears of his guitar. "Shhhh, baby don't believe her."

She rolled her eyes at him, "Is she here?"

He nodded pointing at the door, "Right out there!"

She walked around the bed as her eyes dropped on Eddie's clothes being the replica of what she had stolen out of his closet. "Jesus, you need to be more creative in your wardrobe."

His eyes falling on his clothes on her with a devious smile, "Nah, I like my clothes and you rock them too."

She laughed at his response. Glancing at the door and back to him she questioned, "So, how should I do this?"

"Oh, right! Uh, I was thinking I'll work her up to it and then like call you out and you guys can talk?"

He moved past Victoria, scavenging through his things. Until he found the small bag of drugs, Chrissy had requested for. "Gotcha!"

Victoria snatched it from his hands, "What are you doing?"

Eddie frowned, "Doing my job!"

Growing annoyed she said sternly, "You're not giving her this shit! I need to speak with her before any drug dealing is done, is that clear?"

Eddie frowned staining at the shorter brunette girl. "Eddie, is that clear!"

He groaned, "Ugh, fine. If she's moody thats not my fault!"

He left the room to go speak with Chrissy as she dropped the bag onto the bed. Pacing back and forth now with the nerves of having to confront her friend, she heard Eddie's panicked voice.

"Chrissy!"

"Hey, Chrissy!"

"Hello??"

Not sure if she should go out now or not, but by the sound of Eddie's voice, who was almost never shaky, she left his room. "Eddie, what's wrong?"

She saw her blonde friend fidgeting in place with her eyes rolled back. It almost seemed as if she was having a seizure standing. "Oh my god! Chrissy!"

Smacking Eddie on the arm and yelling, "What did you give her!"

"Nothing and Ow!"

The two of them panicked try to wake Chrissy up from this state. Victoria feeling tears edging near her eyes grasped onto the girls shoulders shaking her back and forth in a desperate need for her to be okay.

The guilt was beginning to eat at her for not being more conscious to Chrissy's needs. She was putting it all on her for not stepping in earlier and demanding for an answer of what was wrong with her. "Chrissy, please!", she cried out.

The lights in the room had began to flicker, as fear had made its way into both their bodies.

Eddie started yelling, "I don't like this, Chrissy! Wake up!"

"Chrissy, you need to wake up!", Victoria pleaded.

Eddie began snapping his fingers in front of her face in hopes of some reaction. "Chrissy! WAKE UP NOW!"

Victoria grasped onto her face yelling, "CHRISSYYYY!"

The blonde girl had began to levitate off the ground as Eddie tugged Victoria away. Both with a pale and frightened face at staring at the girl in front of them. There was a moment of silence as the girl had now been lifted off the ground.

"Chrissy?", the brunette girl said in a shaky voice.

The blonde cheerleader was now slammed into the ceiling as Eddie who was now frightened fell backwards pulling Victoria down with him. He yelled, "What the fuck!"

Victoria now in tears and terrified for her friend was clinging onto Eddie's hands around her for dear life. Both, being unable to speak, they watched the horrific sightings that took place next.

The first thing to occur were the arms of Chrissy's cracking almost as if someone had purposefully broke her bones into a million little pieces. Her legs were the next to crack and be pushed in till the bone split in two's, three's, and four's. Her jaw had been dislodged, pulled out of place as it swung open freely. Her eyes had been bleeding until they exploded within her skull.

Eddie and Victoria screamed in horror. Eddie wrapping her arms around Victoria, not in a way to protect her, but more to comfort himself in the amount of fear he felt. They both froze as Chrissy's body smacked back onto the ground.

Chrissy Cunningham had been killed before their eyes.
