33. Goodbye for Now

After my friends gave big "Goodbye!"s and "Thank you!"s and "Get better soon!"s to Jax, I'm staring up at the infirmary ceiling waiting for the "Good to go!" from a nurse. I turn to my left and look at Jax, who will need a bit longer to heal.

"How are you doing?" I ask.

"Decent. Better for the most part." Jax answers. His side is all bandaged up and he still has some bruises, scrapes, and a black eye. The only injuries I got were some bruises and a large burn on my left leg.

"How did the squad get stopped after the big collision?" I wonder.

"Right after you passed out, I threw the splash paralysis potion at their group. A few minutes later-after Miri alerted them-the Dwarf Police Squad came and took the squad away."

"So they're all in jail now?" Kayla asks, who's sitting up in the hospital bed to my right.

"They all got sent to the FTRS dungeons. Apparently, Hansel placed Anna under a spell that lasted multiple days. That's why she went from good to evil so fast." Jax says.

"So she's not evil after all!?" I ask in shock.

"Hold up, we don't know that for sure." Jax says.

Nurse Tundra comes in through the door. "Gilly C. and Kayla W., you are both all set! Your parents will be arriving shortly. The rest of your group is in the grand foyer."

"Thank goodness!" Kayla sighs.

"Just make sure to keep the burns moisturized and to not put heat on them." Nurse Tundra advises.

"Alrighty!" Kayla says. "Bye again Jax, and thank you for such a great week! Well, except for the end, but that was not your fault."

Jax laughs. "Of course."

"I hope you get better soon and hope to see you all soon! Tell Emmerlyn I said bye and thank you when she wakes up!" Kayla finishes.

"Thank you and will do." Jax says. Kayla walks out the door. I sit up and face Jax.

"I'd better get going now."

"Don't be gone for too long." Jax says.

"I won't. I'll see you soon, I promise. You need to get better first."

"I will. Sorry for ending the week on a bad note."

"You had nothing to do with it, it's my sister and the Stiltskin Squad's fault." I pause. "Wait a sec, what happened to... Jack?"

Jax's eyes go wide. "He... he... did he ever get out from Jocelyn's barricade?"

"No... it was impossible for him to break out. I remember seeing him there when the squad was charging the obliteration box."

"And the entire ballroom blew up..." Jax falters, and we both come to realization.

"He died!" We practically yell. I cover my mouth.

"What the actual heck." Jax covers his face. "That's legit crazy."

"Oh, so THAT'S who HEAS meant when they said that one student went MIA!!" I laugh nervously.

"Oh my gosh, that's insane."

"Not trying to be mean or anything, but it's kinda his fault. Jack should not have broken in in the first place."

"True." Jax says.

"Well, even if we just found out some crazy information, I have to leave." I say.

"You do gotta, don't you. Well, I'll miss you." He sits up and I give him a hug.

"Thanks for everything." I say. Just then, Nurse Tundra comes in at the same time Emmerlyn wakes up.

"Oh hello, Miss Emmerlyn! How are you feeling?" Nurse Tundra asks.

"I feel pretty good other than a little sting from the burn." Emmerlyn says.

"It's good that you feel mostly good. You should be good to go in a little while."

"I will see you later everyone! Thanks Emmerlyn for your help this week, and thank you Nurse Tundra for helping with my injuries." I say. "And bye again, Jax."

"Bye!" All three of them say.

I carry my bag full of clothes and all those Rapunzel hair care products down the stairs and enter the grand foyer where my friends are waiting for their parents or their ride back to FTRS.

I join in on conversations and the topic of Jack comes up.

"We made headlines!" Maxine exclaims. "And one student went MIA. Who was that?"

"Jack." I answer.

"Wait a sec... I put him in a barrier! Did he ever get out?" Jocelyn asks.

"No! Which means he..." AG falters.

"Died!?" We all exclaim.

"That's terrible!!" Maxine cries. "Even though I really don't like him!"

"That's what Jax and I determined... because the entire ballroom blew up." I can hear the ELF construction crew working on rebuilding the ballroom.

"That wasn't my intention..." Jocelyn mutters.

After saying goodbyes to Annalyse and all of my friends, I meet my parents at the Royal Manor Pegasus Stables and we talk about my week on the flight home.

"I'm just glad you're okay." Mother says. "And that you had a fun time, for most of the time."

We enter my boot and my siblings all hug me at the same time. "Gilly!" They all shout. "You saved the day again!"

"It was a team effort." I say, and it truly was.
