The memories

Keifer's POV

I was confused, standing there and looking at Jay calling me with an annoying name, "Keifie, don't piss me off", and suddenly I felt someone jumped on my feet, "ahhh", and a creature ran off, my heartbeat went high, maybe Blood pressure shoots up, "what was that?".

Jay looked at me, "what? It's Keifie", she moved towards the couch and took out something from the downside of it, it's a white rabbit, "oh that's Keifie", she bends down lightly caresses the rabbit's ears, "you're creating troubles lately".

She picked it up from the ground, and turned towards me, "it lives here as well", I saw her treating that rabbit so nicely and soothing its furs, I took a closer look, "you're addressing it", she ignored me, I took a deep breath, "it scared me'.

She pushed me, "no... you're scaring it, stay away", she took it to the kitchen and fed it some peanuts. A smile appeared on my face, as she's really looking adorable and talking to a rabbit. But the name is Keifie, is it related to mine or...

The phone rang, she answered it while feeding the little animal, "hello Aries", and my heart aches, the memories, the people I left behind, and I thought I'll never see are all here again. I do remember our good days, the days of our first meet, school days, our trio, our little banters, rivalry and teasing. The name you gave me and Aries, cold blood twins, I chuckled.

*Flashback*

Jay got herself a food platter in canteen, she in her own world of thoughts without looking here and there was walking and "tapp",strikes with someone and her food tray fell "fuck, are you blind", she yelled, "oh really, look who's blind you or me", students started whispering, "she don't know who's he", "it's Keifer, say sorry girl".

Keifer silently moved, leaving everyone in shock, Jay was staring at him going towards the counter, 'I do remember he's the boy whom I defeated in the race, damn the audience were cheering for Keifer, he's in the same school as me".

Jay too moves towards the counter to buy another one but stopped by Keifer, "come with me", he dragged her by holding her bag and made her sit beside himself, "take it", he offered her food. Other students were not able to believe that it's Keifer, the grumpy President of Section A not going wild but treating someone.

Jay confusingly looked at him, and smirked after a while, "are you bribing me so that I don't tell these people who are afraid of you that you lost to me in the car race", she teased him, he just stared at her, "why are you in this school", he asked, "cause my family get me here', she replied.

Keifer looked deep into her eyes, "you know I'm President", Jay looked at him in shock, "OMG, your last name is Trump", he denied, "no its Watson, Mark Keifer Watson", she hid her smiled, "you've got attitude like him", she laughed.

Keifer furrowed his eyebrows, "do you find yourself so smart?", Jay nodded, "yes", "Jay, right?", he asked, "Jasper Jean Mariano", she replied, "Okay! I challenge you, meet again in the race next week, I'll show you the real Keifer", he forwards his hands, "challenge accepted", she said.

Other students were really shocked to see Keifer behaving in such a way, "he never ever looked at girls in school except...", Aries came inside, "Keifer, you..." and his eyes went over Jay sitting beside him, "you two?".

Keifer smirked, "my new friend", he said while pushing on the last word, Jay knitted her eyebrows, "when did that happen", Keifer said, "right now", Jay sighs, Aries was looking at them, "behave guys, you're HS students".

Aries sits in front of them, "Jay, what are you doing with him, I'm serious", Jay looked at Keifer, "we just met and coincidentally sat together", Keifer could smell something, "you know each other", Aries nods, "she's my cousin, just moved in my house", "Ohhh, cousin", Keifer glanced over her, she ignored him and busy in her food.

Keifer laughed, Aries sharpens his eyes, "are you hiding something", Keifer was about to say something but Jay puts some food in his mouth, "nothing", Aries looked at both, "leave it, how's your race yesterday Keifer, I was unable to come as she disappeared", he said while pointing at Jay, Keifer and Jay exchange looks, he smirked, "it's not as expected but interesting".

Aries shook his head, "whatever, Jay Ik you're in Section E for now", Keifer looked at her, "okay! You kinda deserve it" Jay hissed, "but be on good behavior, school will consider it and also one more trouble, I won't be saving you from Kuya  Angelo this time", Aries continued.

Keifer stood up, "it's time for class, let's go", Aries too gets up, took a roll from her plate, "wait for me during off timings, we'll go together", he flicked over her head and left, "ouch", she groaned, "Aries and Keifer are friends, huh, obviously both are of same nature. Cold blood twins".

Jay moved towards her class, "though he might look dangerous, grumpy but I didn't get why others are afraid of him, he's interesting creature, like it'll fun to be his rival"

*Flashback over*

Jay was still on call, little animal nuzzled her chin, and she smiled and kept phone on speaker and took Keifie in her hands, to be honest I am missing the time I used to keep my head in her lap and her soothing my hairs, that creature took my place, unknowingly my fist clenched.

"So, when will you come back?", Aries asked, she denied, "Hey Jay, how're you?", it's most probably Ella, I'm glad they're still together. Jay replied, "Ella, I'm good and missing you". 

Ella asked if she's coming for Halloween next month, Jay again denied, "I don't think I'll be able to make it, it's too far and also I've my match in December". Oh Halloween is coming, it used to be a little cold and dry in Manila but it's hot in Canberra.

I was looking at her talking, her eyes shifted towards me, she stared at me like she was telling me that I'd missed everything. The worst thing in hard times is the memory when we're happiest, those moments that we thought are normal, later on we realize how much precious they are to us. And my parcel arrived, I collected it and went inside my room.

How time changes everything, it's so powerful that we can do nothing, just regret over things and overthink about what could've happened. I wish I should've reconsidered my decisions, and the mistake of deciding everything on my own without asking her, well I deserve this ignorance. (Leo's thought process)

And it's not enough that the almighty sitting in the sky decided to punish me for this, and the things I wanted to correct got out of my control. If that day I was aware of a conspiracy planned against me by my own family, even my own brother, my life would've been different.

I lay down on the bed, as usual I was struggling to sleep, I realized Jay was walking on the balcony, I stood near the gate, hearing her slow steps. I saw through the curtains, she was strolling.

She went near the edge of the balcony, and kept her hands on the railing, but it's loose and she lost her balance, my eyes widened and I immediately ran towards it, jumped over the little wall separating our balconies and held her, "what the hell were you doing?", she didn't reply but her eyes were closed and it seemed like she's sleeping.

I patted her cheeks, "Jay?", she was not saying anything but sleeping, I gently carried her and placed her on bed and covered her in a blanket. I saw valium pills lying near her bed, "is she suffering from insomnia as well?".
