Chapter 2

00:40, 6 February 2019

Y/n POV:

He appears to spot me too since he runs up to hug me.

'I was so scared you was dead,' He tells me.

'I was scared you were dead to,' I tell him back. He's always been a protective brother, I love him for it though. We let go and I notice everyone staring.

'You two know each other?' Ralph asks.

'He's my brother,' I inform him.

'Anyways, where's the man with the trumpet?' Jack perks up.

'There's no man with a trumpet, only me,' Ralph holds up the conch.

'There aren't any adults?' Jack questions. 'Choir, sit down!' I know he can be loud and assertive, especially to his choir.

The boys in the choir all exchange looks and sit down. I sit down next to my brother. After a while we've all exchanged names.

'What are we going to do?'

'We should have a leader. Or chief,' Roger says, who's sat next to me. I only know his name and that he's in Jack's choir. Sometimes he'd come around to our house, we hardly spoke.

I turned to face him, he looked back at me. We said nothing and looked back to Jack and Ralph who were saying something I don't remember.

'All those in favour for me as chief put your hand up,' Ralph said. All the kids puts their hands up, 'and for Jack?'

The choir and I, also a few littleuns put their hand up. Ralph wins by two votes, I don't think he looks fit to be a leader. Sure, he's daily attractive, but he doesn't seem able to make his own decisions or control a group of people.

'Looks like you won the election,' Jack said to Ralph, though I could tell he was jealous.

'We should make rules,' Ralph says, he then holds up the conch, 'whoever holds the conch gets to speak. That way we aren't talking over each other!'

'Can I have the conch?' Jack asks, taking it. By now, his shirt has ripped a fair bit as he leans against Roger, who looks quite bored, 'Ralph's right, we have to make rules. After all, we're English not savages, and the English are best at everything.'

Jack gives Ralph the conch back.

'May I hold the conch?' Piggy asks. Ralph passes it to him, 'the question now is if anyone knows we're here. They knew where we here headed, but we never arrived there.'

'Where were we going?' A young boy asked.

'We were going home,' Piggy answered, 'now, we-'

'You talk too much, fatty!' Jack shut him up, rudely interrupting him. I stiffen as I laugh.

'His name's not fatty, it's piggy!' Ralph said, only earning a bunch of laughter from all the boys.

Piggy looked down in shame, 'it's not, it's-'

Another boy only made a pig noise, earning more laughter.

'Ok, shut up!' Ralph yelled, taking back the conch, 'we should explore the island. A few of us should go. Jack, you can come with me. And, um, Roger, you come too.'

Jack and Roger exchange a glance and nod. Roger glances to me as he gets up. I look him up and down before we break eye contact.

'Piggy, you take names of the children.' Ralph orders just before they all leave.

'But there are so many!'

'Just take their names,' Jack rolled his eyes.

'What? Can't you manage it?' Roger mocked piggy. Before we knew it, they had disappeared.

I felt a tug on my top, I look down to see a young boy looking up at me with sad eyes.

'Hello, darling. What a your name?' I bend down to his height.

'Percival,' He mutters very quietly.

'What's wrong?'

'When will we go home?' He asks.

I make a lie to him, 'soon, very soon. You just have to wait a little bit, ok?'

He nods, then runs to hug me. I hug him back and hear him silently crying. I almost feel like a mother, even though I don't exactly like children.
