Chapter 11
18:54, 17 December 2024"I like you, Suisei." I finally said, the words spilling out faster than I intended. "I couldn't keep it to myself, I had to tell you."
She opened her mouth. "I'm glad you told me." Sui-chan said quietly, her voice barely a whisper. "Because...I feel the same way."
For a second, I couldn't move, my heart pounded so loudly in my ears that it drowned everything else. I wasn't sure if I heard that right.
Her eyes met mine and in the dim light of the cabin, she nodded. Her lips curving into a shy smile that made my heart race even more.
"You...do?" I managed to ask, my voice little almost like a whisper. I was afraid if I say it out loud would break the spell and wake me up from a dream.
"I do, Y/N-kun." Sui-chan said, her voice quiet but sure. "I've felt this way for a long time..." She looked away, gazing at the cityscape below us. "You're the only one who can understand me, and everytime when you're around, I feel like I can be myself, and that's...something I'd really love." Her eyes met mine again, it's the first time, I realize, how beautiful those blue eyes are.
I stared at her, the weight of her words sinking in slowly, like the last piece of puzzle falling into it's place.
For a moment, I couldn't find the words. My mind was racing, but it was hard to focus on anything except the warmth growing on my chest. It was just the two of us, with nothing but the quiet hum of the Ferris Wheel and the soft glow of lights far below.
"I never thought...." I spoke, my voice shaky and I was nervous. I swallowed trying to find the right words. "It's hard to believe this...that you feel the same way about me." I forced a laugh trying to hide my nervousness, my fingers fidgeting with the edge of my sleeve.
She smiled at me, her gaze gentle as she reached for my hand, placing hers over mine. Her touch was warm and light, offering an unexpected comfort. "It's not hard, Y/N-kun." She spoke as her hand grabbed mine. "You're always there for me, you're the one who always supported me." She said, her words pierce into my heart. "Remember when things between us get messy?"
"Ye-yeah, sort of..." I replied, embarassed remembering such a thing.
"You still came to the gymnasium...to watch me practice." She paused. "Back then, I couldn't look at you, I couldn't look at you...not because I hated you, but...I felt guilty after ignoring you all the time...I thought I had pushed you too far..."
"I'm sorry, it was my fault." I shook my head. "It was me who started to avoiding you first, I thought it was better that way, I thought...that's what you needed."
Silence started to grow between us. As her hand grabbed mine, I placed my other hand over her.
We stayed like this for a while, as the Ferris Wheel started to descent, Sui-chan opened her mouth again.
"No...I want....I want you to be with me...I want you to stay by my side....." She spoke, her voice trembling before if finally came out, something I never expected. "That's what I needed..."
It was really beautiful, when I look into her eyes and towards her face, I realize this could be a dream. But the warmth she spread across me towards her touch make me realize, that this is not a dream. It was real, all of it.
My chest tightened as I realized how much she meant to me, how long I'd try to bury the feelings that now seemed to rise with every breath I took.
"I'll always by your side, no matter what happened, I'll always be there for you." Her eyes widened hearing my response, her cheeks blushed red as tomato.
I let go of her hand from mine and instead grabbing her shoulder before finally kissed her.
For a moment, everything around us seemed to dissapear. The Ferris Wheel, the city below us, everything. It was just the two of us. Sharing something fragile and precious. The warmth of her hand lingered on my skin, but the touch of my lips on hers was even more electrifying.
When I pulled away, surprise can be seen on her eyes, her cheeks still flushed red. And I could feel my own heart racing, pounding against my chest.
Sui-chan looked at me, and for the first time, I could see just how vulnerable she is. The confident school idol, the girl who everyone admired, was now sitting beside me, her heart laid bare. And in that moment, I couldn't hold back anymore.
"I've been trying to figure it out." I whispered, my voice trembling with nervous. "Why I've always felt drawn to you. Why the world seemed to fade away when I look at you." I paused, swallowing hard as I gather my courage for what I'm gonna say. "It's because I love you, Sui-chan."
Her eyes widened again, and this time, her lips parted in a soft, surprised gasp. "Y/-kun..." she whispered, her voice shaking with emotion.
I reached for her hand again, holding it tightly as if planting myself in the reality of this moment. "I've loved you for a long time. I was just too scared to admit it, scared that I wasn't enough for you. That I didn't belong in your world."
I could see tears started to flow from her eyes, but she quickly blinked it away, shaking her head. "You were never just another person in my world, Y/N-kun." She said softly, her voice filled with sincerity. "You've always been someone who I could trust, the one who saw me for who I really am."
"And...I love you too. I'll always loved you."
Hearing her words made my heart swell in my chest, and for a moment, I could hardly breathe. The world outside felt so distant, like it didn't matter. Nothing else mattered except the two of us in this moment.
"Thank you, Sui-chan." I whispered softly, Sui-chan rested her head on my shoulder. "I'll always by your side, no matter what happens."
She smiled, I could feel her tears in my shoulder as she grabbed my hand. "And I'll always be by yours, Y/N-kun."
As the Ferris Wheel began it's final descent, we stayed locked in this quiet, shared moment. Sui-chan didn't pull away and neither did I. It felt like the world slowed down just for us, but as the ride gently stop, reality sheep in.
The skies already dark as we step outside, and the two of us are the last person in that Amusement Park.
"Thank you for letting us take more of your time." I said to the staff as we both get out from the cabin.
"Anytime, brother." He gave me a wink and a fist bump, before me and Sui-chan finally leave the Amusement Park.
I'm kind of suspicious that this man saw what happened. But it doesn't matter.
I glanced towards her as we walk together towards the Train Station, our hand holding each other, fingers locked in. I could feel her warmth spreading across me as the cold night breeze hit us. I glanced over her again and noticed she was shivering from the cold air.
Without any second thought, I gently let go of her hand, in which causing confusion in her face. "Hold on." I said as I shrugged my shoulder, taking off my jacket. "Wear this, it's kind of cold." I drapped my jacket around her shoulders.
"Aren't you cold too?" She asked, her voice full of concern, as she tugged the jacket closer around herself.
I smiled, shaking my head off. "I'm good, beside I'm wearing a long sleeve anyway."
Her lips curved into a small, grateful smile, and she reached up, wearing the jacket properly now. "Thank you, Y/N-kun."
I nodded, feeling the familiar warmth again as her fingers found mine again. Even in the cold, her hand was enough to keep me warm.
"Hey, let's grab some dinner before going home." I asked.
She looked up at me, nodded with a smile. "Sure, let's go."
The small restaurant we found wasn't anything fancy or crazy, but it was simple, cozy, the kind of place with dim lightning and soft music.
The air between us felt lighter now and more relaxed. For the first time in a while, it wasn't filled hesitation or unsaid words. It was just comfortable.
"I didn't think I'd be this hungry." Sui-chan admitted with a soft laugh, setting her menu down. "I guess, the Ferris Wheel made me hungrier than I thought."
I smiled, my fingers tapping lightly against the edge of the table. "Yeah, me too. I could go for something comforting, like curry or ramen."
Her eyes light up. "Curry sounds good. Something simple and filling."
We placed our ourders, and as the waiter walked away, a comfortable silence settled around us. The weight of the day slowly lifting, replaced by a sense of piece.
The dim light cast a soft glow on her face, and for a moment, I was caught up staring at her, at how serene she looked.
She caught me staring at her, and raised her eyebrow playfully. "What? Do I have something on my face?"
I quickly shook my head, feeling the heat rise to my head. "No, you're just....forget about it."
"Liar." She spoke, leaning forward slightly, resting her chin on her hand. "You're totally staring."
Before I could respond, our food arrived, and the delicious smell of curry filled the space between us. Sui-chan picked up her spoon, a gleam of excitement in her eyes as she dug in.
"This is so good!" She said between bites, her eyes light up with each spoonful. "I love this place already!"
We ate quietly for a while, enjoying the food while the gentle hum of the restaurant's music filled the space. The silent hit the spot, not an awkward one, but something that just felt right. Just two people enjoying each other's company.
After minutes, we eventually finished our foods. Sui-chan leaned back against the chair, letting out a satisfied sigh. "That was perfect! I'm so full, I could just curl up here and sleep!"
"Yeah, it was so good! We should come here again sometime." I chuckled.
She looked at me, a small smile playing on her lips. "I'd like that. I feel like we could have a lot of moments like this."
For a while, we just sat there, letting the moment sink between us. A quiet comfort between us.
After a while, we finally leave the restaurant and headed towards the Train Station. The city buzzed with life, people and cars anywhere, even in this cold night.
Our fingers locked in with each other, warming the both of us as the moon shine above us.
We finally get in the train, the city faded away as the train moved. The ride was quiet, the gentle rythm of the train on the tracks lulling us into comfortable silence. Sui-chan leaned her head in my shoulder, her warmth spread across me, reminding me of how close we are now.
"You know, I still can't believe today happened. It feels like a dream." She whispered softly, her breath ticking my neck.
I smiled, my heart swelling with warmth as I turned to her. "Me too, I keep thinking I'd wake up soon."
Her hand squezzed mine gently. "It's real, and I'm glad it is."
For a while, neither of us spoke. The train passed through the city, the streetlight casting a fleeting shadow on her face, her eyes closed, and I found that she fell asleep.
"She must be tired." I said to myself as I fixed her position.
Eventually the train slowed down as we approach the station near to our house. I gently wake Sui-chan up from her sleep.
"We've arrived already?" She opened her eyes, her face sleepy.
"Yeah, let's go."
As we stepped of the train and into the cool night air, I felt the weight of the day, everything we had shared, everything we had said to each other.
We walked down the empty road side by side, our fingers intertwined, the cold night air bite our skin but not bothering us.
As we finally arrived in front of her house, Sui-chan suddenly stopped, turning to face me. Her cheeks were flushed with cold, or maybe it was the lingering warmth between us. She smiled sweetly, her blue hair glow under the moon.
"Thank you for today, Y/N-kun." She said quietly. "It meant more to me than you know."
I nodded, my heart thudding in my chest. "It meant a lot to me too. More than I can explain."
She stepped closser, her gaze locked into mine. For a moment, I thought she might kiss me, and my heart raced at the thought. But instead, she leaned in, resting her forehead on mine.
"Goodnight, Y/N-kun." She whispered, her breath warm against my skin.
"Goodnight, Sui-chan."
And with that, she turned back walking towards her home. She gave me one last smile before finally going inside.
As I stood there under the moonlight and stars, I couldn't help but smile, remembering all the things happened today.
Even at home, I couldn't sleep because of today.
..........
As I walk into school, my thoughts keep reminding me of yesterday. I still couldn't believe, that now Sui-chan are my girlfriend. The school idol, the girl everyone admire are now someone special to me.
The usual bustling corridors seemed quieter, yet my sense were sharper. I noticed how her presence filled the space.
Sui-chan take me to the rooftop at lunch break, at first I was concerned that she wanted to talk to me about something. But turn out she just wanted me to eat lunch together.
"What? Did you make another lunch for me?" I'm surprised as she handed me a lunchbox.
"Huh? Aren't you the one who said you could use a little help back then? And also I didn't want you to just eat something from the cafetaria only!" She spoke as she opened her lunchbox. "Beside...I'm your girlfriend now." Her cheeks blushed as she said that.
"I never thought I could taste your home cooked meal again." I said as I opened my lunch. It's an egg fried rice with sausage and a sunny side egg on top.
"Did you like my cooking that much?" She asked, her face curious.
"Of course, it taste really good!" I replied instantly.
We then stay silent for a while as we eat our lunch that Sui-chan made. Each bite taste really good and packed with flavours and easily filled my belly.
Eventually the delicious lunch come to an end, "Did you like it?" She asked, her face curious.
"I love it!" I replied with confident and honesty.
She then smiled hearing my response, without telling any words she sat next to me, leaning her head on my shoulders.
As the gentle wind hit us, Sui-chan started humming a song. She then glanced at me, her usual teasing grin appear in her mouth.
"Hey...let's go to karaoke today!" She suggested, her tone teasing, almost like challenging me to sing in there. "You've always heard me singing, but I never heard yours."
I let out a sigh, knowing I couldn't run out from her. "Sure sure, let's go."
Her eyes lit up upon hearing my response, her energetic grin widening. "It'll be fun! I promise!" She clapped her hands together in excitement.
After school, we made our way to the karaoke bar. The place was cozy and dimly lit, with private rooms that are perfect to sing your heart out.
"I'll start first." She declared as she confidently grabbed the mic. She picked a song through the tablet and started to sing.
With our elongating shadows on the paved street lined up,I'm walking together with you in the twilight.
As our hands are held, if only you could stay beside me forever,I would be so happy that I could end up in tears.
The wind has become frigid, and the scent of winter is apparent.Very soon that season will arrive at this town, the season when I can stay close to you.
When we cuddle up together, gazing at the first snow of this year, during this moment, happiness begins to flow all over me.I'm neither being spoiled nor weak;I simply love you; I really think sofrom the bottom of my heart.
As long as we stay together, I have a feelingthat we'd be able to overcome any kind of hardship.I sincerely pray that days like thiswill continue forever and ever.
Her voice filled the room with emotions, her singing was powerful and caught me in tears of how beautiful it was. I found myself mesmerized by it.
"As expected from the School Idol." I clapped my hands.
She smirked, handing the mic to me. "Your turn, Y/N-kun. Don't hold back."
I hesitated before finally picking the mic. "I'm not as good as you, y'know?"
"It doesn't matter." She smiled softly. "I just wanted to hear you sing."
I took a deep breath, scrolling endlessly hoping to find a song I could sing. Then, after a moment, I found it. It was Seize the Day from Avenged Sevenfold, the song that's close to me for years. I'm surprised that they have this song.
I glanced at Sui-chan, her curious eyes lit up, encouraging me to start.
Seize the day or die regretting the time you lostIt's empty and cold without you here, too many people to ache over.p
I see my vision burn, I feel my memories fade with timeBut I'm too young to worryThese streets we travel onWill undergo our same lost past.
My voice was unsure at first, but over the time as I looked at her, I found myself comfortable and able to sing my heart out.
I found you here, now please just stay for a whileI can move on with you aroundI hand you my mortal life, but will it be forever?I'd do anything for a smileHolding you 'til our time is doneWe both know the day will comeBut I don't want to leave you.
As I finished the song, Sui-chan stand up from her sit, giving me an applause. "That was really good, Y/N-kun!" Her voice was shoft, her eyes shining. "That song suits you."
I scratched the back of my head, feeling embarassed. "Thanks, it's one of my favorites. I thought it would be nice to share it with you."
"You're amazing, you know that? I could feel every words within me." She rest her chin on top of her hand, her smile gentler this time.
I let out a relieved laugh. "I'm glad you like it, but I'd had enough embarassment for today. Your turn again."
She smirked, grabbing the mic from my hand. "Fine, but don't think you're off the hook yet. I'm going to find a duet for us!"
Her playful energy returned again, filling the room with comfort as she picked another song.
Eventually we take turn with each other, even if I don't want to, she keep forcing me to sing. I hid my face behind my palms as she playfully laughed hearing me cracked a high note.
Hours passed and eventually our session was over. We walk through the same usual path we take, the sky in a shade of orange and red as we walk home.
"That was fun!" Sui-chan stretched her arms above her head as we walk side by side, still not far from the karaoke.
"You completely outshined me!" I chuckled, shaking my head. "But honestly, I don't mind it a tall. I could listen to you sing forever."
She turned to me, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Does that mean I'm your favorite singer now?"
"Obviously." I grinned. "I've been a fan since the first time you asked me to go to your practice session."
Her cheeks flushed red, surprised hearing that. But then, she laughed it off and throw a playful punch towards my arm.
We continued to walk down the street, silence filled the air between us, but it was comfortable.
"Hey..." Sui-chan spoke, breaking the silence between us. "Did you still remember my dream?"
I looked at her, the usual playful energy she had are gone, replaced with something serious.
"Yeah, of course." I replied. "What happened?"
Her mouth opened, but for a moment she's hesitant to speak. "I'd thought about it for a while now." She spoke, her tone serious. "I'm thinking, I would start posting videos online to reach more audience."
"That's a great! I'm sure people will love to hear your voice!"
She glanced at me, a small smile tugging in her lips. "You think so? I mean, I've always loved singing and sometime perform in school too. But putting myself out there...It's a little scary, what if they don't like me?"
She looked down towards the sidewalk, but I found her hand and grabbed it with me, making her gaze turned to me. "It doesn't matter, Sui-chan." I paused. "What matter is that you try it first, beside you've got a beautiful voice, there's a lot of people that are touched by your voice, including me."
Her cheeks turned a soft shade of pink as she finally looked at me. "Thank you, Y/N-kun. That's mean lot to me."
"Even if people doesn't like you, I'll always be there for you." I spoke, holding her hand tight and gentle, her warmth spread across my whole body.
Minutes passed, we reached the corner of the street, she let go of my hand and waved to me. "Thanks for today, Y/N-kun." She smiled, the warmness reach my heart. "See you tomorrow!"
As we parted ways, I couldn't help but keep staring at her figure that eventually fade away. At this exact moment, I could feel more close to her, closer than before.
