5.Minnie may's sick

Third-person pov

Sunlight shone through the curtains in Rose's room as the sun rose. In her bed laid a sleeping beauty. 

Before she went to bed that night Rose prayed to god that her mother would soon get better.

She awoke and got ready for school that day. 

She wore a beautiful yellow gown with puff sleeves.

Rose was a very humble girl. She never liked people that bragged about how much money they had or when people make fun of someone because of their money.

She thought it was very cruel.

She went downstairs to make some breakfast for the family before packing some lunch. As she boiled some eggs she heard a noise coming from behind. 

Diana came down the stairs wearing a teal dress.

"You look lovely Diana," Rose said smiling at her cousin.

"Thank you very much. You look divine as well Rose" Diana said as she walked over to her.

The two girls giggled as Diana stepped into the kitchen to help her.

Rose cooked while Diana set the table. Everyone slowly came downstairs.

After breakfast Rose packed her lunch and headed to school along with Diana.

"So did they like the biscuits you baked them?" Asked Diana.

"Yeah, they did," Rose replied while swinging her basket. "I also saw Anne but she seemed to be in a bit of a rush.."

They kept talking as they walked into the schoolhouse. 

Gilbert saw her talking with Anne. They seemed to be in a deep conversation and he didn't want to interrupt so he just decided to give it back to her at lunch or maybe when school was over.

Rose's pov

After I hung my coat I went to my seat beside Anne.

" Hello, Anne. Why were you in such a rush yesterday?" I questioned.

She seemed to be a bit tense. 

"I-Marilla wanted me home early and I didn't want to be late," She said quickly.

"I have to go put my milk by the river. ill talk to you later" Anne said as she ran out of the room.

Now I was very confused. It seemed like she was hiding something from me. 

Class soon started and everyone went back to their seats.

The bell rang and everyone went to their places to have lunch.

I walked over to the back of the schoolhouse near a tree. I don't think the girls like me very much. I've been catching them giving me death stares in class. 

I nibbled on my bread when I heard a branch snap behind me. 

My head whipped around and I saw Gilbert holding a book.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you" he said holding his hands up in defense.

"It's okay.. I was just out of it I guess" I said as I looked down.

"I-I just wanted to give you your book back. You left it yesterday," he said handing me the book as he grinned. I returned a shy smile.

"Do you mind if I join you?" he asked. I nodded.

Third-person pov

Rose and Gilbert had a nice lunch and they shared some similar interests. But little did they know Josie was gawking at them while Ruby's in the corner crying.

The snow crunches as Rose ran into the forest in a panic.

She was in a nightgown. She didn't have a coat or anything.

She finally reached her destination. Green Gables.

She ran into the house, Running upstairs into Anne's room. 

She saw the sleeping figure of the red-headed girl. 

"Anne! Anne! Please I need your help! Minnie may she's sick. We need to wake Ms.Cuthbert!" she said while shaking Anne awake.

"She's not here she went to see the premier. Did your parents go as well?" Anne asked in a panic.

"Yes!"

Anne quickly got up as quickly as she can while she put her coat on.

"What's wrong with Minnie may?" Anne asked while putting her coat on quickly.

"I-I don't know. S-she's choking and coughing. It's horrible." Rose said as tears stream down her face as she shivered because of the cold.

Anne muttered something under her breath.

"We need to get the doctor!"

"Matthew! Matthew! Come quick!" Anne yelled.

Anne dug through her drawers looking for a coat. "Here! Put this on."

"Aunt Josaphine is staying with us. She doesn't know what to do. I've never seen a cough like this!" rose rambled.

"I have," Anne said as Matthew walked in.

"Matthew! I need you to fetch the doctor. Minnie may is gravely ill. I'll go home with Rose." Anne said as Matthew nodded and ran out.

"Anne she can barely breathe" Rose cried.

The two girls ran through the forest a lantern in each of their hands.

Rose's pov

I tried my hardest to keep up with Anne but failed when I tripped on a branch.

Now I was really cold even though I was wearing Anne's sweater. 

I look up and saw that Anne kept running. I tried to get up but my knee's sting sensation stopped me.

I looked down at my knee and saw that it had gotten cut by something. 

I slowly got up trying not to move my knee too much as I walked over to the nearest house.

I didn't recognize it at first but when I got closer I noticed it was Gilberts house.

I walked up to the door and knocked while trying to support myself.

The door opened to reveal Gilbert who looked very tired.

"Oh my! Rose you look freezing! Come inside!" Gilbert said as he hurried me inside.

"Im sorry. I d-didnt mean to intrude. I was on my was on my way back to the house with Anne because M-minnie may is sick and I slipped and cut my knee on a branch-"i was cut of by Gilbert.

"Let me take a look at your knee. Afterr that I can take you home" he said firmly.

Before I could protest he took me upstairs to what I assume was his room?

He sat me down on his bed and went back out.

He came back in with some supplies in his hand.

"Tell me if it hurts okay?" he asked as he gently wrapped a bandage around my knee.

"Thank you Gilbert..." I said as I played with my hands blushing slightly.

"It's not a problem" he said looking up.

Ours eyes met but I quickly looked away.

Third-person pov

After Gilbert wrapped up Rose's knee they made their way to the Barrys house.

"I cannot thank you enough Gilbert." Rose said looking up smiling at him.

"It's not a problem" he said returning the smile.

They soon reached the Barrys house and Gilbert knocked on the door while supporting Rose by one hand.

The door was opened by Matthew.

"Oh uh Gilbert, Rose come in"

"Oh Mr. Cuthbert I best be going. I was just helping Rose" said Gilbert.

Matthew nodded and went back inside.

"Thank you again Gilbet" Rose said turning around smiling.

Gilbert smiled.

Before Rose went inside she turned back around and pecked his cheek then rushed inside.

Gilbert flushed red and put his hand on the place she kissed and smiled.
