"lynn! it's been so long" devon heard her mother say, somehow controlling the shudder that went through her body by being called by her middle name. from her parents, she could take it, from her friends? yeah, that's hell.

"hi mom, i'm sorry i didn't call soon. there's been a lot going on" she mused, hoping her mom wouldn't ask about it. thankfully she didn't, well, not exactly.

"i know honey. so, how are you devy! tell me everything" her mother prompted, her grin audible through the phone.

"well, i went back to gymnastics" dev started, quickly getting cut off by her mom.

"really? oh my god! david! come hear this" her mother yelled as devon chuckled, amused by her mother's antics.

"what happened?" devon heard her father say in the distance, presumably sitting next to her mother, wherever she was.

"devy got back into gymnastics!"

"oh my god lynn! that's amazing!" david said happily, his voice now sounding louder than before.

"thank you. i knew it was time to go back and i'm really enjoying it" dev grinned.

"i'm so glad my girl but be careful okay?" david said softly, worried that she might pressure herself. she tended to do that a lot.

"of course dad, anyway. i, uh, went to vancouver a bunch of times, i went to that friendsgiving i told you about" she recalled, thinking back to that weekened. it had been really fun.

"oh, yeah. did you have a good time?" laura asked, wanting to hear all the details.

"who went?"

"it was really fun. all of us went. the hughes'. jule, molly and sunny. trevor and his roomate, jamie, also made it. alex and cole. it was really fun. guess what though?"

"what?" laura asked excitedly.

"quinn asked me to be his girlfriend the day after!" devon exclaimed, loving the way her parents erupted in cheers over the phone.

"oh my god! that's such great news!" laura yelled, looking at her husband who only had a smirk on his face "dave, why don't you look surprised?"

"i already knew" he shrugged.

"what? how?" laura furrowed her brows, wondering how her husband knew and didn't tell her before hand.

"trevor told me"

"he told you?" devon incredulously asked, her cheeks flaming in anger.

"and you didn't tell me?" laura exclaimed, offended.

"oh my god! trevor knows no boundaries!" devon yelled, angry that everything she yelled at trevor for literally went over one ear and out the other.

"leave the kid alone lynn, we're friends" david exclaimed, casually shrugging with an easy smile on his face.

"do you not realize how weird that sounds?!" devon said incredulously.

"pipe down. whatever, how did he ask?" david rolled his eyes, deflecting the whole thing.

"i know you're changing the subject but i'm excited so i'll let it slide" devon mumbled "he took me to this beautiful library and he told me to look up at the stars and next thing i know he's kneeling in front of me"

"kneeling?! what?! pause!" david yelled, looking outraged, even going as far as standing up.

"not like that!"

"honey, you know that boy is a softie. let her finish" laura said calmly, grabbing her husband's hand comfortingly.

"he was kneeling but he gave me a promise ring! and then he asked me to be his girlfriend"

"that's sounds better, i got scared there for a second" david sighed, hoding his chest dramatically.

"sometimes i wonder how i got stuck with two of the most dramatic people i know" laura mused, looking at her husband cheekily.

"as if you're any better" david grumbled jokingly, hugging his wife close.
