the friendgroup had been at the lake house for a couple days and everything was doing great. devon had met a bunch of hockey boys and reunited with most. she was grateful that her friends were able to get along with her old friends and she was happy seeing jule so happy to be back with people he missed, even if he hadn't said so.

thankfully, she hadn't had an awkward encounter with quinn yet, they obviously had seen each other, considering they had spent almost everyday on the boat, but nothing too bad yet.

today they decided to change things up, settling in going to a country club not too far. some people had decided to sit this one out but of course the hughes, devon, julien and trevor had to go.

julien had decided to go in the car with the hughes and devon and trevor went solo, trevor claiming he had to do something before and asking devon to come with him, in reality he just wanted to interrogate her on the way.

"so, you having a good time?" trevor asked, keeping his eyes on the road. the club wasn't too far from the lake house but he was purposely driving slow so he could have a conversation with the girl beside him.

"yeah! i felt like i had already missed a lot so being here feels, i don't know, nostalgic?" she smiled, looking at him with a happy expression on her face.

"you really did miss us, huh?" he teased, looking at her briefly.

"of course i did, i grew up with all of you. i just couldn't stay after, you know?"

"yeah, i get it. but! now that we're talking about your favorite person in the world, what's the deal with you both?" trevor asked, not beating around the bush. trevor was like that and it was one of the traits dev liked about him. he wasn't scared to ask or say things directly.

"ugh, everybody keeps asking me that!" she groaned, leaning her head on her legs that were pulled up to her chest.

"cause we're all nosy and we want to know!" trevor laughed, taking the red light as an opportunity to look at her.

"there's nothing going on. absolutely nothing besides the excruciating pain i feel in my heart everytime i see him cause thing's aren't the same" devon explained, doing grand gestures with her hands.

"that doesn't sound like nothing's going on" trev murmured, driving once again.

"it's all just so weird"

"i was gonna keep it to myself but what about you guys' hug? on your first day back" trev reminded, looking at her with a pointed stare.

"you saw that?" she whined, looking at him through her hands.

"me and julien did, kinda funny to he honest"

"why would it be funny?"

"cause at first you looked like you wanted to turn back around and catch a flight back to nyc but then you didn't" he nagged, shrugging his shoulders calmly.

"what's funny about that?" she questioned, looking at the boy with a quirked brow.

"i don't know"

"okay, trev. do not tell anybody about that hug, everyone will think i can't keep a strong posture" she ordered, trying to seem serious but that look never looked good on her.

"we all know you can't against him" trev snickered earning a slap on the back of his head.

"shut up and drive faster"

"as you wish"

at last they arrived to the club and upon seeing jack he ran to her and hauled her up his shoulder, walking towards the entrance.

"it's not fair you're all stronger than me now!" devon groaned, not even trying to get down knowing it would be futile.

"your fault for taking too long!" jack laughed, not even fazed by having a human being on his shoulder. funny how devon used to give him piggyback rides and now she can't even lift his upper body.

"let me down!"

"please never let her down" julien chimed in from the back, recording the whole thing to send to sunny later.

"shut up julien!"

"come one, leave her alone" luke said, walking to them and carefully putting his arms across her waist to lift her down.

"why are you so boring!" jack whined, going as far as to stop walking. trevor was laughing his ass off so hard it was getting hard to breathe. the whole thing was stupid as fuck but so fucking hilarious.

"thank you lukey, my knight in shining armor!" she gushed, hugging him tightly. quinn smiled, clapping jack on the back to urge him to walk along, not wanting to miss a second of devon's smile, something luke noticed.

"you're so cringe, please stop, we're in a public place" julien grumbled, side-eyeing her so hard devon was sure his eyes would get stuck.

"fuck you julien"

"golf or tennis?" quinn asked, speaking up for the first time as he stood exactly in the middle of the tennis court and the golf entrance.

"tennis!" luke and devon yelled while everyone else said golf except quinn. jack and trevor quickly kicked luke, whispering someting hastily on his ear that made his eyes widen.

"nevermind, let's go golfing" luke said, not looking so sure of himself.

"but i wanted to go play tennis"

"wait i just got this idea! why don't me jack, jule and luke go golfing and you and quinn go play tennis?" trev announced, smiling mischievously and not getting faced by the hard ugly glare devon was sending his way.

quinn's eyes widened, looking between the boys who stood at the golf's entrance and the girl beside him "i'm not sure-"

"too bad!" jack exclaimed.

"we're already going" jule said, quickly catching up to what they were trying to do.

"bye!" luke smiled, quickly catching up to the other guys.

devon was gonna absolutely kill them.
