Chapter 21
07:33, 21 September 2013My mom said it was okay if I don't go to school today. She thought I might as well just take the entire week off instead of only going on Friday. I of course didn't argue with her.
I texted Meredith:
Are you going to school today?
I laid down on my bed waiting for a response.
She texted back:
No. Too depressed.
I texted back:
Same:/
I got a new text message just as I sent Meredith one. It was from Cody:
Hey text me your Skype name.
I texted it to him. I rushed downstairs to grab a laptop. I was extremely excited to talk to Cody. To see him. To just hear his voice. I hurried back upstairs. I hopped on my bed and opened the computer. I clicked the Skype icon and waited for a call. I was getting antsy. The call popped up and the Skype made that sound it usually does. I immediately hit the button to accept the call. Cody's face popped up.
"Hey, babe," He said. "I made it to Ireland."
"Hey," excitement filled my voice. "Is it beautiful there?"
"Well, my view got surprisingly better since I started talking to you," He suductively said.
I blushed. "Cody, I thought you weren't one for cheesy compliments like that." I giggled.
He laughed. "Oh come on. I gave you a compliment. At least say thank you," He joked. "But do you wanna see the view from my window?"
I nodded.
He picked up the computer and took it his window. The view was astonishing. Yeah, there were buidings, but it looked much different than America. I liked different, though.
"I wish I could be there with you," I sighed. "It looks incredible."
"Same," he sighed back. We were inturrupted by a phone ringing. Cody took it out of his pocket and looked at it.
"If you wanna take the call, you can," I informed him. "I don't mind."
"Ya sure?" He asked.
I nodded.
He looked at the phone and then at me. He hit the answer button and got up to go to another room.
I let him answer mostly because I wanted to know who he was talking to. I tried to listen to what he was saying. All I got was a few muffled laughs and a couple of 'okay's.
He came back after about ten minutes.
"Sorry, babe," He apologized.
"It's alright," I assured him. "Who was it? I mean if you don't mind me asking."
"Oh, it was my friend, Josh Winnington," Cody answered.
Josh Winnington. I knew that name. Oh my god.
"I happen to know something," I said.
"What's that?" Cody asked.
"Meredith has a little crush on him," I deviously smirked.
"We should set them up," Cody laughed. "Josh needs a girl."
"Seriously though," I said. "Give me his number."
He told me his number. I called it.
"Hello?" an Australian accent answered.
"Hi, I'm Shannon-
"Ohh, Shannon!" he recognized me. "Hey, Cody told me about you."
"Oh really," I giggled.
"What's he saying?" Cody half-laughed.
I held my finger up, shushing him. "I was wondering if maybe you could Skype my friend. I mean if you're not busy," I told Josh.
"Naw, I'm not busy," He responded. "May I ask why you want to me to Skype her?"
"Yes, of course," I felt dumb for not telling him first. "My friend, Meredith, has a bit of a crush on you. Cody and I thought we could freak her out a bit."
Cody got anxious at the sound of his name.
Josh laughed. "Yeah, I can give her a buzz. Meredith, right?"
I gave him her Skype name. "Wait five minutes before you Skype her."
"Alright," Josh agreed.
"Thank you so much!" I said. "It'll mean so much to her."
"Nice to finally talk to you," He told me. "Well, bye."
"Bye, Josh." I hung up the phone.
"So I take it he's going to do it?" Cody asked.
I nodded.
I texted Meredith:
Hey get on Skype?
"Meredith's either gonna love us or freak out and hate us," I told Cody.
Meredith texted back:
Kk.
I checked my Skype to see if Meredith was online.
I texted her:
Give me a sec okay?
She immediately responded back:
Kk.
I swear that's like the only thing she knows how to text.
I texted Josh:
Okay. Skype her now.
He quickly responded:
Kk.
Yep. They definitely would be perfect together.
"Okay Josh is doing it," I told Cody.
"Good," Cody smiled. My phone started to ring. "Go ahead. Answer it," He smiled.
I pressed the button.
"Shannon! What the hell?! You did this didn't you?!" Meredith shouted at me. I couldn't tell whether or not she was happy.
"You're welcome?" I tried.
"Yes," She calmed down a bit. I could tell she was on the verge of crying. "but I'm going to hit you when I see you."
"I know," I knew that was coming. It's what she does. "but quit talking to me. Talk to Josh."
"Okay, I will." Yep, she was definitely crying now.
"Bye," I ended the conversation.
"Bye," I heard over quiet sobs.
"I'm gonna laugh if we actually did some good 'match-making' here," I chuckled.
"Same," Cody laughed.
"Cody, we gotta leave for sound check," Justin walked into the room. He noticed Cody skypeing me. "Oh, hi! Sorry to break up this little love fest."
I giggled. "Hi, Justin."
"Sorry, I gotta steal Cody from ya," he apologized.
"It's fine," I assured him. "Well, bye."
"Bye, Shannon," Justin waved.
"Bye, I'll talk to you later," Cody said.
"Good luck tonight," I told Cody.
He smiled and then the call ended.
I wanted to know how Meredith was doing so bad. I thought of something. I looked for Meredith's name in my Skype contacts and clicked it.

MEREDITH'S P.O.V.
"Yeah, I-"
I was cut off by a noise. It was a Skype call from Shannon. That little turd. She's in so much trouble on Monday. I decided to add her to the call.
"Who's this?" Josh asked.
"Shannon," I said.
"Ah, yes. Figures she would do this," He laughed.
Shannon popped up. "Hii. So how's it going?"
I rolled my eyes and groaned.
"Hello, Shannon," Josh greeted. "Good to see your face. I can see why Cody picked you."
"Ay! Watch yourself Josh," She joked. "You have Meredith. Not me."
He laughed and I let out another groan. I was embarrassed as hell. "We aren't dating," I snapped.
"Ah, but you will." Can she just shut up? I swear she never knows when enough is enough.
Josh was laughing throughout this entire conversation.
"And you guys are both awkward," She said. "but the good kind of awkward."
"I like her," Josh said. "She's funny."
"No, she's not," I said sternly. "She's annoying."
Shannon smiled at me. "You know you love me. Oh! I know what we should do. We should go on a double date. You know me and Cody, you and Josh."
"Okay, I think it's time for you to go," I told Shannon. Before she could say anything I ended her call. "Sorry, she doesn't know when to stop," I awkwardly laughed.

SHANNON'S P.O.V.
Meredith cut me off, but I think I did what I needed to. I'm not saying you should force people into loving each other, but I think they'd get along well.
