Hurt

(Ava's pov)

"It's about time." Nick says as he lies in a hospital bed hooked up to machines. "Your a piece of shit." I say pointing to nick pissed off. Steve looks at me not expecting me to swear. I don't think I've ever been this mad at someone in my life. "Yeah I deserve that. But your all still alive so it wasn't for nothing." He says.

Nat and I sit in chairs next to the hospital bed and have our wounds treated. As they finish patching me up and giving me some pain killers, Nick lists off all the I juries he has and the doctor adds "don't forget the collapsed lung." "Yes, let's not forget that." Nick says. I can't listen to this anymore so o get up and walk off "Ava! You need to heal up before you start walking!" Steve yells to me. I keep waking down the hall, with a slight limp, ignoring him.

(Steve's pov)

She ignores me as she walks off. Nick sighs and says "I've really pissed her off this time." "This time?" I ask. "Besides her sister Kate, shield is the only family she has ever really had. Even her 'parents' are shield agents. Her real parents died on a mission from shield shortly after they joined shield. I've let her down so many times but she always understands. Just give it some time." He says. After a few seconds I follow after her.

"Ava!" I say as I catch up to her. She turns around to face me and says "look if you've come to apologize for Nick you can save it." She says. "I'm here to make sure you're all right." I say. She takes a deep breath and says. "Yea I'm fine. Just another day dealing with Nick.". "He told me about your parents." I say carefully choosing my words and tone.

"That was not his information to share." She says sounding like she's on the verge of tears. But she holds them back as if she taught herself to. "Please I just want to be alone for a bit." She says and turns away. "Fury says that you have always forgiven him." I say and she stops. " why do you keep forgiving him if he keeps hurting you like this?" I ask. "Because....he's the only real family I have left apart from Kate. My 'mom' back in L.A.... She was assigned to be our guardian when our parents died. Sure she's like family but it's not the same. I may be mad that he lied but I know he had his reasons and I'm just glad he's alive." She says then continues to walk away.
