53. The Benefactor

People started gathering around the parking since there was a loud thud noise when Sean fell off. I told Scott to take care of Liam while I called Dad here. Scott started to go near Liam but he was afraid and he started crawling back so I pushed Scott back to talk to Liam. "Kid, listen to me very carefully, I know you are scared and have many questions but right now I need you to trust us. You know that guy was ready to kill you and we were just trying to protect you. People have seen Sean's body and soon someone will call the police here and you're in no condition to talk to them, so please just trust us." 

"You, I trust but not him. He literally bit me and his eyes changed color and he had claws..." 

Liam started in a shaky voice but I stopped him in the middle, "Liam, I know you're scared, but you trust me, right? Scott will not bring any harm to you, he's one of the kindest people I know, and trust me if there was a way to save Sean there he would have." Then we heard sirens so Scott and Liam went out from the back door while I stayed on the roof. Soon Dad and Deputy Parrish got there with some other deputies. 

"Ruth, oh my god, you're bleeding, and what the hell happened here?" 

Dad asked inspecting my head so I took him aside and explained the whole thing except for the part where Scott might have accidently turned Liam. Then Dad sent me to get checked up. After getting stitches, I went back to Dad and saw Derek there. 

"Hey kiddo, you okay?" 

He asked patting my head and I nodded in response. Then he went near Sean's body and told us that Sean was a Wendigo. "I assumed that from the way he looked but from what I remember, Mr. Argent told us they haven't been in Beacon Hills for a long long time, so how's this possible?" I asked. 

"The family must've been well-hidden. Or they must've had a creepy dungeon of dead people to munch on quietly."

Derek explained. After that, I asked Dad if it would be okay if I left as Stiles and Scott were waiting for me, Dad nodded so I started walking out but then Dad stopped me, 

"Wait, honey. It's quite late and you don't have a car not to mention a mouthless axe murderer is on the loose so it won't be safe for you to go alone." 

Then he called Parrish and asked him to drop me off at Scott's place. 

"Ruth listen, I know that Sheriff must've warned you to carry a taser and\or a Pepper spray with you, given the increasing numbers of murders, but I still wanted to make sure, so, here take these, I have extra." 

He said handing me two cans of pepper spray and a taser. "Thanks a lot Deputy Parrish." I said with a smile which he returned but just as I was about to get out he stopped me, 

"One more thing, I don't know what it is with you and your friends, how you guys always end up in situations like these but let me remind you, you were very lucky toady that with the axe murderer lurking around, all you got is few stiches, so please be careful and please tell all your friends to be careful as well and not roam around crime scenes."

"I understand, and again thanks a lot for these and also thank you for caring." I said and got out of the car. Stiles also got there at the same time, Parrish waved at him from the car and then drove off. Then Stiles came in front of me and saw my face and as expected he went bonkers. "Sty, I am fine, it's just a few stiches and you know I have survived way worse." He nodded and as we went inside he asked me why I had pepper spray and Taser on me, I laughed and explained him everything and also how I wanted to tell Parrish that this is nothing in compassion of weapons I own but I didn't say anything because it was a very sweet gesture then I handed those to Stiles, "Maybe you should keep this. I mean they are way better than a baseball bat." He wasn't amused by the idea but regardless he took those and we finally went to Scott's room. But when he opened the door, Scott was sitting on his bed alone. "Scotty, where is Liam?" I asked getting suspicious.

"He's lying down." 

He said, then I once again looked around the room and when I didn't find him, I looked at Scott waiting for some explanation but Scott grabbed Stiles and my hand and took us to his bathroom and stopped in front of the bathtub. With shaky hands I removed the curtain and found Liam bound and gagged in the bathtub. My eyes widened and I covered my mouth with my hand in shock. Stiles looked closely at Liam and then closed the curtain again. Then they dragged me out of there and made me sit on the bed. "Scott McCall why the hell are you keeping Liam as a captive in your freaking house." 

"He was getting restless, he was demanding that he wanted to see you but when I told him to wait he argued with me and started walking out to find you." 

"Oh my god Scott, you're a fucking idiot." I yelled. 

"As a reminder, this is why I always come up with the plans. Your plans suck."

Stiles said. "Okay, this enough now. We are going to untie him, right now. Do you have any idea what that boy must be going through." I yelled at them again.

"Okay, Rue calm down. We are going to make him sit on a chair and explain him what's going on, okay?" 

Stiles said and I nodded, then they brought Liam out and made him sit and Stiles removed the tape from his mouth and warned him that if he screamed then the tape would go back on. After this I pushed Stiles back and sat in front of him and cupped his face, "Okay, Liam. Now, you've seen a lot of confusing things tonight and more confusing things are going to happen because of the confusing things that happened tonight. Do you understand?" Liam shook his head, so Scott came forward and sat beside me, 

"Liam, what happened to you—what I did to you, which I had to do in order to save you—it's going to change you."

"Unless it kills you. Shouldn't have said that."

Stiles said and I elbowed him, after that Liam started to cry, "Honey, please don't cry. You're going to be okay, I promise you." I said but he continued to cry so I sighed, "Okay, it's enough. Kid, now I am going to untie you, can I trust you?" I asked and he nodded so I looked at Scott and Stiles, so they brought the scissors and untie him. I cupped his face again, "Are you okay now, honey?" I asked and he nodded but he looked miserable and helpless for about 10 seconds before he got out of the chair and hit Scott with it, then he punched Stiles in the face and ran out of Scott's bedroom. I helped Stiles and Scott to get up and we ran behind Liam. They tackled Liam but he easily threw them off and ran out of the front door but just before running again he looked back at me and muttered sorry, before running again. "Liam wait. Please." I yelled running after him but with his werewolf powers he easily got out of my radar.  After I go back inside we decide to give Liam some space and talk him tomorrow in the school as there is a full moon tomorrow.

In the morning after getting ready, I was going in Stiles room to talk to him about this Liam situation, but then I saw Dad also walking towards his room and when we both arrived at his door, we saw him putting chains on Malia. Now, I knew he was just making sure that she was prepared for tonight, but Dad sighed and said that he doesn't even want to know what was happening and walked away while Stiles ran after him yelling nothing was happening and I was laughing my ass off, while Malia sat there cluelessly. 

At school in chemistry class Lydia showed Kira and me the photos of the Math notes she had given to Malia. "Lily these are your notes?" I asked in disbelief and she nodded. 

"Well no wonder Malia is failing." 

Kira said and I agreed, "Yeah, I am a Math wizard and even I cannot read these."  After that Lydia told us that some of it was her notes but rest she believed was some code which she doesn't remember writing. 

"I think it's a variation on the Vigenère cipher, I can crack it with a key."

Lydia said and then Mrs. Martin walked in the class, before she started teaching us she came to us and handed Lydia the key to their lake house. Then she looked at me as well and instructed us, not to invite more than 6 people and we have to pay for all damages, and also to lock up the basement as the scratch marks on the wall make it look like wild animals got in. Lydia and I smiled awkwardly and took the key. Then just as Mrs. Martin started teaching I got message from Scott saying that he found Liam. I picked up my bag and told Mrs. Martin that I was feeling very uneasy and wanted to go to nurse's office. Since she knew that I would never buck class without an emergency she let me go and I found Scott and Stiles in the hallway. Then we saw Liam coming so three of us cornered him and Scott begged him to give us chance to explain. 

"Okay, I'll give you guys one chance, only because she seems nice." 

Liam said and I winked at him with a smile which he returned for a second before turning to Scott. Scott looked him in the eyes with a very serious expression and said, 

"Liam, we are brothers now." 

Stiles and I slapped our foreheads while Liam frowned, 

"What are you talking about? We just met and you bit me."

"The bite—the bite is a gift."

Scott fumbled. "God, please stop talking." I said and Stiles took over saying how we're trying to help Liam, 

"The kidnapping wasn't very helpful." 

Liam bit back. I sighed and held Liam by shoulders and turned him towards me, "Just to clarify, Scott kidnapped you, okay? We aided and abetted. I know this all is very confusing to you, and if you don't listen you're life could be in danger." Liam then ripped his bandage off and showed us that the bite had already disappeared. 

"Listen, I am really grateful that you helped me yesterday night Ruth, I really am but there's nothing wrong with me, I am fine. Maybe it's your friends you should worry about because first he threw me on the felid so hard that I had to go to hospital and then bit me." 

After saying that he walked away and I texted everyone to meet us by the bus so that we could discuss this whole Liam situation.

As we all gathered around the buses, and started discussing our options, Malia said that she doesn't want to share her basement, and then Lydia reminded her that technically it was her basement and requested Malia to try and not scratch it this time. Then Scott suggested that we could use boathouse for Liam, we could chain him to the support beams. 

"But we still need to get him to lake house and he doesn't trust us, well expect Rue." 

Kira said. "Well he's grateful to me for saving his life, and he used to trust me before Scotty  here decided to kidnap the poor kid." I said and Scott gave me apologetic looks. 

"Maybe we should just use chloroform on the little bastard and throw him in the Lake." 

Stiles and Malia suggested. "You two stay away from that kid. Sty, you remember when Scott got bit how he was for first few weeks. No offence Scotty but you were the biggest jerk on the planet at that time, but we don't blame you because it was all new to you and you were confused, but you had us. Liam just got transferred here, for all we know he doesn't have anyone." I said and Stiles nodded. Then Lydia said that we should be smart about it and just invite him to a party at the lake house. 

"So you're going to ask out a freshman?"

Stiles asked Lydia.

"No, I'm done with teenage boys."

Lydia said but then she looked at Kira and me and said that if we're going to play a trick on someone then we should use the trickster along with the person whom Liam clearly has crush on. "Liam doesn't have a crush on me." I said firmly but Lydia just smirked and at last I agreed. 

After that Kira taught me how to lure Liam in, but before going I quickly texted Isaac explaining all this because even though this didn't mean anything, I still felt pretty weird. After I was done texting Isaac, I looked myself in mirror one last time, to make sure Lydia didn't go overboard, with my makeup or cloths, once I made sure it was all okay, I took a deep breath and walked out in the hallway. As I started walking I noticed that everyone including Liam was looking at me so I just smiled and flicked my hair for the effect. Then I went near Liam and intentionally tripped over a little so that Liam would have to help me. 

"Oh god, please be careful. Are you okay?" 

He asked and I looked at him with big eyes and give him a smile as Kira suggested and said, "How can I not be when guys are like you around." He blushed a little which was very cute that it made me laugh but I controlled, "Hey, by the way there's a party tonight, would you like to come?" I asked. 

"Are you going?" 

He asked and I nodded, 

"Then, I'll be there." 

He said and I smiled at him brightly, "Great, I'll pick you up around 7 then." I said and he nodded excitedly and gave me his number and I walked away.

In the evening I called Liam and told him I was outside his house waiting for him. When he came out I noticed he had shaved and was looking pretty decent. "You're looking good." I said as he sat in the car and he blushed and thanked me and we left. On the way we both were quite and I felt awkward so I started telling him about how Lydia was my bestfriend and the Lakehouse was her grandmothers, "She's dead, so it's okay. I mean, it's not okay that she's dead. Unless she was in pain." I said and he laughed, then he asked me to turn up the music, so I did and E.T. was playing and I started missing Isaac as it was his favorite song and he drove me insane all summer by playing this song over and over again. I was suddenly pulled out by my thoughts when Liam called me, 

"Who did you say was coming to this party?"

"Um...Everyone." I said and he nodded. When we got there only Scott's bike and Stiles jeep were in the parking and Liam grew suspicious, so I told him that it was small party, but he seemed confused and said that I told him everyone was coming. I told him that we were early and ushered him in the house. 

When we got inside Liam saw the  the duffel bag with chains laid out on the coffee table and Malia, Stiles, Scott, Lydia and Stiles gathered around. Before he could run I closed the door. "I am so so sorry kid, I didn't want to deceive you like this, but it was the only way to bring you here." I said and Liam looked at us in horror. Then to put him at ease, Scott started telling him about all of our supernatural secret identity. Before Scott could tell him about me Liam turned towards Stiles and me and asked what we were,

"For a little while, I was possessed by an evil spirit. It was very evil."

Stiles said and then Liam asked him what he was now,

"Better?" 

Stiles said making me laugh a little, then Liam turned towards me and arched his eyebrow. "I don't have any supernatural identity, kid. Though I hunt those who do." I said and he seemed confused so I took out the knife strapped at my thigh and my gun from my bag with few other equipment and showed him. "I am a hunter, but I don't hunt. I only protect those people who cannot protect themselves." I said Liam then looked at the chains and Malia clarified that it was for her and then flashed her blue eyes. Liam got up and started yelling at us saying that he was done with our shit and how he believed we all were 'psychotic nut jobs', but then he suddenly stopped and we heard people outside. Suddenly Liam's claw came out and he started scrapping wooden floors and Lydia and I remembered that we have to pay for any damage, so Scott, Kira and I dragged Liam to the boathouse. 

In the boathouse Scott and I try to chain an uncooperative Liam but then he tried attacking us so Kira got annoyed and knocked him out cold with an oar. After sometime as Liam was still out Scott reminded Kira that Liam was just 15 and we're going to help him. 

"What if he doesn't want our help?"

Kira asked, "Oh, he will. Trust me." I said smiling at Scott who returned my smile. As we were sitting around Kira says that she could hear the music coming from the house and wished that they paly some slow songs. Scott then grabbed his phone and played a slow song and extended his hand towards Kira. She took his hand but then looked back at Liam, 

"What about him?" 

"He can dance with me next time."

Scott says making me laugh. "Well I am going to leave you two love birds alone and go talk to my my wolf." I said and walked out of there. As I reached to a distance I took out my phone and texted Isaac asking him how how he was doing, and I instantly got his reply, he asked if we could talk on facetime. He said that he knew I told him it will be difficult for me to call him but tonight he really needed me, and to be honest, I have missed him just as much so I called him. "Hey, babe. How are you?" I asked. 

"Oh god, you have no idea how good it is to hear angelic your voice and see your hauntingly beautiful face again." 

He said making me grin. "Well, I miss your stupid smug smile too." I said and he laughed. "Isaac, I know this is very difficult especially since we can only text but remember it is matter of few weeks only. And no matter how far away you're from me, I'll always love you and will be there for you in any way I can be." I said and he smiled as a tear escaped his eye, but he quickly wiped it and said, 

"Thank you for always saying the thing I need to hear without me telling you. I love you a lot." 

"I love you too." I said and then he cleared his throat, 

"Well, now that were talking face to face, tell me who this Leon kid is." 

Isaac said as I watched his jaw clench and I couldn't help but laugh, "First of all his name is Liam not Leon and secondly, you don't need to be jealous, he's a just 15. He's a kid, whom we are trying to help because Scott messed up a little. There's nothing more." I said. 

"Hmm.. That's good, but tell Leon that if he ever tried to make a move on you, I am also a werewolf, and a lot stronger than him." 

Isaac said as eyes turned yellow, "Calm down, Hercules, he's a nice kid." I said but then I heard a growl coming from the boathouse, "Sorry, babe but I have to go now, but I text you later. I love you a lot Isaac Lahey." I said. 

"I'll wait for your text. And I love you a lot too Ruth Claudia Stilinski." 

Isaac said and I ended the call and ran inside, only to see Liam in his wolf form and launching himself on Scott and Kira. They both ducked and Liam crashed through the window and ran out.  I quickly grabbed my electrocuting device from my bag and Scott and I ran behind him while Kira went inside the house find Lydia. 

Scott and I went in the woods while following Liam and as we were looking for him he suddenly jumped out of nowhere and tackled us to the ground and then he started to try and tear us apart especially Scott saying it was all his fault. Just as Liam was about to strike a killing blow an arrow hit the tree behind Scott and exploded and blinded him. Scott and I looked up to find Mr. Argent standing there with a crossbow. He then walked up to us and helped us get up and as soon as I got up I jumped in his arms and he lifted me while laughing. "I missed you so so much." I said, holding him tighter.

"I missed you too, kid." 

He said and when he put me down he noticed that I was crying. He cupped my face and asked me what happened but I pushed him away, "You didn't pick up my calls, or reply to single one of my texts or Isaac's call. I was so worried about you." I said angrily. He smiled and told me that he was a little busy. Then Scott asked him how did he knew, and he said he got Scott's text. Then Mr. Argent told us that there was a clearing just north of where we're standing. Then Scott asked him what he would do and Mr. Argent reminded Scott that Liam was his Beta, so that question is what he would do. Scott told him that Liam won't listen to him, so Mr. Argent said that maybe it was time Scott used his own words. Soon we heard scream from distance and Mr. Argent handed Scott the remote of the emitters and we followed the sound. 

When we found Liam, Scott shut off the emitters and Liam was back in his human form and scared he asked Scott what was happening to him, 

"Same thing that happened to me." 

Scott said walking towards Liam while Liam started crying and then they started talking, Scott told him what was happening and Liam started telling him about his life, how he was kicked out of his previous school again. 

"What do you mean 'again'?"

Scott asked.

"I got kicked out of school. And I deserved it. The way they looked at me when they saw what I did to that car."

Liam said and then he told Scott that he doesn't want his parents to see him like this- a monster. 

"You're not a monster. You're a werewolf. Like me."

Scott told Liam and stood while glowing his red eyes and seeing Scott like that Liam finally stopped crying and Scott hugged him.
