Chapter 15
11:16, 1 August 2017I woke up in Guy's bed, in his arms. Looking around, I sighed of relief. For a second I thought that Guy and I did something, if you know what I mean. Going downstairs, the servant man had a fresh dress for me. I thank him and went back upstairs to put it on. Unfortunately, I was having trouble. I wanted to leave before Guy awoke.
"Sirena..?" A deep, smooth voice said.
I turned to the bed. "Good morning."
Guy was sitting on the edge of the bed. He was shirtless, but still had pants on. "Do you need help?"
I let out a deep sigh. "Yessss." In shame, I moped over to Guy. He buttoned up my dress with his large hands.
"You don't have to go." He whispered in my ear.
A tinge ran it's fingers across my body. "It might be for the best." I'm starting to not want to go. I going miss Guy when I get to the castle.
Guy's hand held a flap on my dress. His chin bedded in the crevice of my neck. He pulled me closer to him. I looked forward, scarred of what may happened if I didn't. "I love you and no one can change that." His words were soft, but hard. Guy let my dress go in a rough manner. Rough enough to make me stumble forward a bit. Guy walked away and didn't look back.
Back at the castle, I stayed in my room until lunch. Come lunch time, I sat down in the dinning room with father.
"So." Father said in the middle of chewing. "You were at Gisborne's place all night?"
I placed my fork on the right side of my plate. "Yes... Unfortunately, I was."
Father gave a strange smile. "Be happy. Gisborne loves you. And you should love him."
I scoffed at father. "I don't love him."
Anger fell upon Father's face. "Gisborne asked for your hand in marriage."
No. I used to have feelings for Guy. But he ruined that. I love Allan A Dale. This can't happen. I can't marry Gisborne.
"I would like to respectfully refuse that offer." I said with a sincere smile.
"You are going to Matty Gisborne." Father said, taking a big bite of food.
"Do I have a choice in this matter?" I questioned him.
Father took a drink of wine. "A clue, no. You will marry Gisborne. He's a good man. I know he can take good care of you."
No! No! I'm not going to marry him! I stood up in anger. My chair flew behind me and I smash my hands on the table. "No!" I shouted. "I will not marry him!!"
Father's face turned red. He angrily stood up and smashed his fist on the table as well. "Damn it child! You will do as you're told! No other man will love you!" Father screamed at me. "Go to your room! Now!"
His words cut like knives. His voice was loud and echoed in my head. Saying nothing, I bowed my head and walked to my room. When I passed Allan, I didn't stop. I wanted to, but couldn't.
"My lady." He called after me as I kept walking. Allan chased after me as I went to me chambers. I said no words the whole way.
Getting in my room, I started to throw thing around, screaming. "UURRRGGHHH!" I threw a chair against the wall. The chair broke and shattered into large and small pieces of wood.
"Woah! Hey! What's going on Sirena?" Allan questioned with worry, grabbing my arms, trying to calm me down.
"Ugh! Father is making marry Guy! I don't want to marry him!" I shouted, pulling my hair in frustration. I grabbed a cup and threw it at the wall. The wood chips scattered.
Allan wrapped his arms around me. Trapping my arms at my side. "Calm down!"
I screamed and kicked. "Let me go!"
"No! You need to calm down. Breathe."
I took a few deep breathes and calmed myself. "Okay." Allan released me.
"I have good news." Allan I said. "Guy and I captured the night watchman and is going to hang."
I walked around my room with my arms across my chest. "Why do I care. Huh? Unless... It's Marian that is going hang. I could care less, Allan." When Allan didn't answer, I quickly looked to his direction. He's arms were loosely a crossed his chest and a sly smile dance upon his face. "No. It can't be."
"Yes... Marian is the night watchman." He said. Allan's face was filled with a mixture of happiness and sadness.
Could it be, Allan is sad that Marian is to be hanged? No! Marian cannot take Allan too!!!
"This is great news. Guy is not going to try and stop it..?" I questioned him.
Allan shook his head. "He doesn't love her. Marian betrayed Guy. His feelings for her faded when she ran away."
I clapped my hands together and turned on the balls of my feet. "Joyful." I whispered to myself as I scanned the room for nothing. "When is the hanging?"
"Ah... When the Sheriff retreats. He went out in search of some sort of gem of something. But... I must be going." Allan told me, bowing. "Good day my lady and good luck to you and your marriage." He quietly spat, leaving the room.
I almost forgot about the marriage. Hearing about Marian being hanged cleared my mind. Joy filled the air in my chambers.
Allan came and got me before the hanging started. Guy wanted me near him, to watch the hanging. There was a big smile on my face and when I looked up at Guy, I saw sorrow. I could tell me didn't want to see this. He held me tight to his side.
"I can't wait to see the night watchman dead." Father happily said.
With one nod, guards brought Marian to the stand. Her hands were tied behind her back. They placed her blow the rope. I could see something shiny, tears on her face. They executioner put the rope around Marian's neck. He didn't pull the lever until father gave him a signal. Marian looked towards Guy.
"Guy, please. Don't let them do this." She cried.
"I'm sorry Marian, but it's too late for apologizes." His voice was cold.
As Marian sobbed the executioner pulled the lever. She stretched at her throat for air. I would have thought, guy would look away, but he watched with no emotion on his face. Marian's body dangled on the end of the rope. It was motionless. It was dead. The whole time, father was smiling. He must have no heart to watch a person die and do nothing. I must have no heart to watch Marian die and do nothing. If fact, I started to laugh.
"Well, I never thought that I'd see this day." I laughed to father.
He looked at me, stunned. "You're not crying?" Father questioned.
"Of course not. I hated her..." I whispered to him.
Father chuckled. "You truly are my daughter." He stood up and gave me a hug. "How is your fighting." He asked me.
Why is asking about my fighting... I was train, but never had to really use it.
"I'd like to think that I'm good. Aunt Davina had the best to train me. Why do you ask?"
"We are going on a trip. Me, you, Guy, and Allan." Father said as we walked over to Guy. "The wedding will have to wait. Now go and change. Dress are useless for where we are going."
"Very well, father."
Guy walked me to my room. I asked him to stay with me.
I went to me closet and grabbed leather pants I didn't know I had, my black knee boots, a white shirt, and a long red jacket.
"Has the Sheriff talked about to about a wedding?" Guy nervously asked as I redressed myself.
I turned my back to guy, so he could help undo my dress. "He has. You asked for my hand in marriage."
"I did."
"I happily accept it." I told him, as I stepped out of the dress. Putting on the pants were difficult. They were tight and strange feeling.
When I told Guy that I would accept his marriage proposal, his face lite up. "You accepted?"
"In deed. You just lost someone important to you. I figured that you wouldn't mind some happiness in your life." As I was talking, I finished getting dressed. I went over to Guy, who was standing by the door. I put my arms around his neck and looked into his eyes. "We could be happy."
Guy placed one hand on the back of my head and the other on the side of my face. "I'd love that." He softly told me before kissing me.
His lips were soft and tasted sweet. It felt so wrong kissing him, but yet, so right. What if Allan finds out that I want to marry Guy. Allan doesn't matter right now. I've lived long enough in this world and I deserve to be happy. I just know that Guy can make me happy.
