Danger lurking behind

09:00, 23 February 2022

Rose drew out her claws, as she glared at the man in front of her. She bared out her teeth, her sharp and slightly longer canines glinting."Leave her alone." She snarled, ready to unleash the growling beast at the man.

The woman's hair slipped out from the man's grip and he pushed away her frail and broken body with his foot. The whip, stained with a bit of blood and torn skin, was still in his hand as he stared at the girl in armour who had just barged in without knocking.

If she was someone else, he would have surely punched and whipped her to death for this type of behaviour. But this girl was different. She was soo beautiful and alluring that he found himself immobile and gaping at her. The longer he stared, the more he found himself drowning in those dark blue eyes.

This girl was not only beautiful but also a ferocious one. The way her lips were pulled back in a snarl, her pearly whites flashing with growls, she was angry.

I need this one... I need this woman for me...

Smirking, he whacked the whip on the floor and the trembling woman on the floor yelped, scared. "Why should I leave her alone? She's my servant." He said, as he picked up the woman by her hair.

Rose growled, her fists clenching tightly. So tightly that her claws got buried in her palms. "Servant or not, no one deserves this punishment. I warn you... let her go and I'll spare you."

The man laughed. "You'll spare me!?! Listen girl, don't cross your limits. If you beg for forgiveness, maybe I'll be a little bit generous in bed. And if not,"He whacked the whip on the woman's back, making her cry out. "You'll be next."

No sooner had the words left his mouth, Rose lunged at him with a animalistic growl and slashed his cheek with her claws. The woman screamed and ran out, crying for help while the man kept groaning and cursing in pain. Rose leaped back panting, her hands covered with blood and pieces of torn skin hung from her claws.

Rose failed to notice the knife in his hand. With a cry, he jumped and slashed the knife, the blade cutting through Rose's right forearm. She cried out and kicked the man hard in his shin. Thankfully, the cut wasn't deep because of the armour but it was burning like hell.

The man lunged again, knife raised in air but this time, Rose was quick. She stepped to the side, grabbed the man's hand and twisted it. A sickening crack echoed in the room as the knife fell free from his hand on the floor, with a clatter. The man lay whithering and screaming out in agony while Rose stared at the man, her head tilted as she enjoyed the screams.

She picked up the knife, her eyes hard and cold, her lips curled up in a sick smile. She advanced towards the man and lifted up the knife in the air. The man's eyes widened with fear seeing the murderous look on her face. With a scream, she brought the knife down to pierce his eye but failed when suddenly, someone grabbed her arms and harshly pulled her away from the man.

Rose screamed and screeched angrily, trying to free herself from the tight hold as she watched the guards pick up the man with bloodied face. His left cheek had four long slashes, running from his jaw to his nose. Thick red blood oozed from the gashes and Rose sneer in pleasure.

"She's CRAZY! Lock her up! KILL HER!" The man screamed and then cried out, clutching his dislocated shoulder.

"Watch your mouth, Sir Tyler!" The man who was holding her tightly, bellowed loudly. It took Rose's muddled up mind some time to recognise the voice. It was Thor.

"Thor!" She started to wriggle more vigorously hoping for his grip to lose a bit but to her annoyance, Thor held her tighter. "Calm down sister. Stay still." Thor said strictly. "He needs to be killed Thor! Let me go! Aargh!" She tried to scratch his face but Thor grabbed her hands and turned her around to face him.

As soon as he noticed her eyes, he stilled. They were dark blue. No wonder, she was behaving and snarling like this. "Sister, you need to calm down. Breath slowly. Look at my eyes, sister. Breath-" it was almost working too as her claws were slowly retracted back.

"KILL THAT WITCH!" Tybalt screamed again, cradling his limp arm. Rose growled loudly as her eyes darkened. She was about to jump at him when-

"ENOUGH OF THIS!" Odin banged his gungnir on the ground hard, as everyone stilled except for Rose, who now looked ready to bite the old King.Odin looked at Rose and then at his army general, sitting on the floor with a bloody face.

"Who did that?" He asked pointing to Tybalt. "She, your majesty! That mad woman over there!" Tybalt said in a fake horrified voice.

Odin glared at Rose. "Lady Rosebelle! Do you have to say something about this?" He asked as Rose stood, trembling with fury at being called mad. Only if Thor hadn't caught her, that man would have been laying mauled in his own pool of blood by now.

"He was whipping a woman mercilessly, till blood dripped from her back." She said, her voice mixed up with a low growl.

"Because that's my servant! I can do anything that I wish to do, bitch!" Tybalt yelled."First she's a woman and then she's your servant, you fucking sick creature!" Rose screeched angrily, trying to get near the man.

"SILENCE!" Odin boomed loudly. "Take him to the healer." He ordered two guards who quickly picked Tybalt up and started carrying him outside. Tybalt threw a murderous glance at Rose who snarled at him, baring her canines.

"And you, Lady Rosabelle, who allowed you to attack my army general? Do you know the consequences?" Odin said, glaring at her. "Allfather, he was harassing a woman! She was badly injured! Bleeding! It's a crime, for god's sake!" Rose protested weakly. She felt so sleepy and her limbs felt heavy as if they were being pulled down.

"But that doesn't mean you will take the reins of laws in your hands! Had it not been for Thor who pulled you away, Tyler would have been stabbed to death till now." Odin said, throwing the words at her. But Rose couldn't hear him properly. A continuous buzzing sound rung in her ears as she breathed shakily.

Rose was on the verge of losing her consciousness. All these screaming and fighting had tired her out completely. The beast inside her quitened down as her eyes returned to their normal aqua-violet colour.

"Are you listening to me?! You'll be punished for it!" Odin said as Rose closed her eyes, yawning. "Father no! Don't do that please!" Thor spoke up, pleading. "Trust me father, she didn't mean to do this." Odin furrowed his brows.

"What do you mean Thor? Did you not see-" Odin was interrupted by a painful whimper from Rose, who had slumped against Thor's body. She tried her best to keep her eyes open but was failing miserably.

"Sister! Sis- Oh no!" Thor pulled back his hand to find them covered with blood. Her right sleeve was wet with the red fluid. "Take her to the healer, Thor. Quick!" Odin ordered, a bit worried. Thor nodded and swiftly took Rose in his arms and started sprinting off towards the healing room.

Rose blinked slowly and moaned. "Thor..." Thor looked down at her eyes and heaved a sigh of relief seeing them in their normal colour. "It's ok sister... You'll be fine." Rose tried to say something but she felt too tired. She nuzzled her face into Thor's hard armoured chest and surrendered to the darkness.

Loki almost stumbled on the floor as he hastily barged into the healing room. Thor sat beside Rose's bed, a solemn look on his face. "Thor!" Loki hurriedly got near him and Thor got up from his chair. Loki took his spot and turned to face Rose.

He stroked her face and placed a kiss on her forehead. Rose shifted and then slowly blinked open her eyes. "Hey darling..." Loki whispered with a smile as he pecked her cheek. Rose blinked again and then smiled back. "Loki."

Rose's armour was stripped off and now, she was wearing a plain baby blue gown. Her right forearm and palms were bandaged with a clean white cloth . A very few scratches scattered across her arms but the rest was fine. Eir came and stood beside her bed and put her palm on Rose's forehead.

"She's fine, right?" Loki asked, his voice low and wobbly. He took Rose's hand and threaded his fingers with hers. Eir nodded.

"Nothing to worry about. The gash wasn't too deep for any stitches. She needs a good nap. If there's any problem, call me." And after patting Loki's head, Eir left to attend other patients.

Rose tried to sit up but Loki stopped her, his hands on her shoulders as he gently pushed her back on the bed. "Rest Pud... Try to sleep." He caressed her face. "We'll talk later."

"I don't wanna sleep Loki. I feel something is wrong... with me." Rose said softly. Loki shook his head and kissed her knuckles. "Nothing is wrong with you... If you don't want to sleep then fine... But give your eyes some rest, Love. Close your eyes." Rose gave in and closed her eyes with a huff.

Sighing, Loki turned to face Thor. "Who did this?" He asked, his voice oddly calm, as if nothing was amiss. But Thor knew his brother well.

The deeper Loki's anger, the calmer he appeared.

"It was Tybalt." Thor said and noticed something flash in Loki's eyes. The way his jaws were clenched and fists were shaking, Thor knew if he didn't do anything now, the hell will surely break loose.

He placed his hand on Loki's shoulder and patted him. "He has paid for it, Loki. Sister made sure of that." He said, laughing a bit. Thor didn't like Tybalt and secretly, he was very happy seeing his sister beat the crap out of that man.

"But he shouldn't have touched her, Thor." Loki said, gritting his teeth. "I won't stop till I stab him in the guts. I'll rip out his-"

"Loki..." The brothers looked to their side to find Rose staring at them with half closed eyes. Loki immediately cupped her cheeks. "What's the matter, Love?"

Rose looked at Loki and then at Thor. "I don't... understand..." She mumbled, her voice distant. Thor furrowed his brows. "Understand what?""How...how did I end up here?" She asked, her sleepy eyes clouded with confusion.

Loki faced Thor. "Was her..." He trailed off when Thor nodded his head. "Her eyes were dark blue again." Realisation dawned on the young prince.

"What's the last thing you remember?" Loki asked, helping her to sit upright. Rose scrunched up her nose, thinking. "I... I was wandering around the corridor and then... then I heard a scream. I opened the door and one man, yes... That man was whipping a woman badly..." Rose trailed off, her eyes closed.

"Then?" Thor asked.

"Then..." Rose clenched her head, whimpering softly. "I-I don't know...unclear Everything is blurry...." She muttered, shaking her head to ease the pain that has erupted from the back of her head.

"Nothing at all?" Thor asked, surprised.

Rose shook her head. "No...why? I did something wrong? Am I in trouble now?"

"The man who was hurting that woman, you thrashed him soundly." Loki said, smiling to ease her nerves.

"You slashed his cheek and I think dislocated his shoulder. I'm proud of you dear sister." Thor grinned, patting her head.

"Oh sweet Jesus! Is he dead?" Rose asked, horrified. Loki sighed. "Sadly no..."

Rose smacked his arm. "Don't say that!...ummm..... Will I be punished?" "Not at all. I'll blast away the person who will try to punish you for wounding Tybalt. As Thor said, we are proud of you." Loki comforted her.

"Thank God, he's not dead..." Rose sighed. "By the way...who is he?" Thor's answer made her head turn hot quickly. "He's Neith's brother." Rose looked away, eyes narrowed. "I should have killed him."

Thor and Loki snickered. And then suddenly, Loki recalled something.

"What was with the caterpillars?" He asked making Rose go tense. Thor looked confused. "Caterpillar?"

Loki hummed. "Yes Thor and... what did you do with those octopuses, Rose?"

Rose closed her eyes, invisible tears flowing down her cheeks.

Jesus! Help me!

"Octopus!?" Thor asked, his eyes wide. "How do you know about them brother?" Loki shrugged. "Maybe, Miss Rose knows something about them, right darling?"

Oh shit! Rose you're fucked up...

Rose cursed herself mentally as she faced the glaring brothers with a sheepish smile. "Hehehe.... Chill out dearest chicken nuggets... can't we sort it out without... any violence?"

Loki made Rose sleep for some hours as advised by Eir. Although, she was not a bit happy about it and wanted to explore the forests but as a punishment for pranking the brothers, she had to stay in her room instead of going out.

"Ponder over your mistakes and think how you can be a good girl." Loki had said, shaking his finger at her before going out of her room. She pleaded to take her with him but even the magic of her puppy eyes didn't work at Loki.

"Damn you Sif!" Rose screeched angrily as she lay on her bed, staring at the royal blue ceiling. Frigga had come to meet her just after Loki left. At first, she thought that Allmother would be angry but to her delight, Frigga was overjoyed.

"You did the right thing, my child. Servant or not, no woman should be hurt like that." Frigga had said, kissing her forehead lovingly. Rose almost melted into the kiss. She loved the queen mother so much.

"Is Allfather going to punish me?" Rose had asked. Frigga had shaken her head. "Never... I won't lie saying that he's not at all upset. He thinks you shouldn't have attacked that...bastard." Frigga scoffed. "...but he can't say that you were wrong." Rose had nodded her head.

"Can't you tell Loki and Thor to end my punishment?" Frigga had laughed at that. "He told me that you pranked them. Loki got a taste of his own medicine." "I have their pictures clicked. Will you see?" Frigga had nodded excitedly.

How hard they had laughed watching the photos of the scared brothers. Loki was perched on the table like a cat screeching for help. Thor was swinging his hammer at the octopuses, and the other hand was busy holding the towel to hide his *cough*...The brothers looked soo adorable, all scared and screaming.

But Frigga had to go back as she had some work to do. Before leaving, she had pecked Rose's head and had fastened the healing process with her magic. Rose wanted a loving mother like her so badly...

Rose was almost bored to death and was planning her funeral when someone knocked at the door with a particular pattern. Three times hard and then two times slow. It was Yeona.

"Come in!" Rose called out, sitting up lazily. The door opened but instead of Yeona, a little boy, maybe five or six years old, entered skipping. "Hola my pretty Lady!" He bowed. "Me ith Yevhen and thith ith for you." He hopped near her and placed a small white flower in her hand.

Rose giggled and kissed the boy's cheek. "Aww! Thank you cutie pie! I'm Rose." They shook hands and Rose tried her best not to laugh when the boy kissed her knuckles.

The doors opened again and this time Yeona entered the room. She scowled at the little boy. "Yev! I told you not to barge in like that!" She scolded the boy. "And that ith why Yevhen hate you!" Yevhen pouted. Yeona sighed and placed the plate of fruits on the bed. "Sorry Rose, I really didn't mean to bring him-"

"He's soo adorable! I love him Yeona! Bring him everyday!" Rose chirped as she helped the boy climb the bed. Yeona was shocked. "Are you serious?""Of course!" Rose nodded, handing the grinning boy berries. She put the white flower in her hair and the boy laughed.

"I heard about the fight, Rose." Yeona said, her voice low and soft. Rose looked at her to find her smiling. "The woman you saved is a widow with a child. Lord Tybalt had almost killed her if it not had been for you." She sniffled."You are the topic of gossips in the whole palace. We thank you." Rose shook her head quickly and clasped Yeona's hands.

"It was my duty! No need for thanks and all! Stop this nonsense." "You are hurt! You bled for that woman!""I'm a warrior, dear! It's our duty to bleed while protecting the innocents." Rose said, releasing her hands after squeezing it.

"You are brave! I like you Roth." Yevhen beamed when Rose laughed and kissed him again. "That's Rose Yev." Yeona corrected. "I thay thame thing. Roth." Yevhen retorted with his cute lisp. Yeona rolled her eyes as Rose laughed again at the antics of the sibling.

"It seems, the day isn't going to be boring afterall..." Rose thought, smiling to herself. They chatted and gossiped when someone knocked at the door. A hard knock. It was Loki.

"Go away!" Rose yelled. Door opened and Loki stepped in. Rose scowled at him and Yeona hurriedly bowed. Loki nodded, acknowledging the greeting. He stared skeptically at Yevhen who was standing on the bed beside Rose. "You will be punithed for not lithening to Roth!" Yevhen yelled, his hands around Rose as if to protect her.

Yeona's mouth fell open at the disrespect shown by her brother towards the Prince. But the little boy didn't even know that he was talking to the Prince of Asgard. Loki stared at the angry little blond boy and giggling Rose, confused."Who are you and why-" he couldn't even complete when a berry came flying and hit his nose.

"YEVHEN!" Yeona yelled, horrified at her brother's behaviour while Rose burst out laughing. "I'm so so sorry my Prince! Please forgive his audacity! He's a stupid child!" Yeona pleaded clasping her hands while Loki rubbed his nose.

"He's your brother?" He asked staring at the child in Rose's arm. He wasn't sure how to react. This is the first time he met a child so closely.

"Yes my Prince. Yevhen, come down this instant and ask for forgiveness!" Yeona glared at the boy who now looked ready to cry. "Why?" He sniffled. "Because he's our Prince!"

Yevhen's eyes widened as he climbed down from the bed and walked slowly near Loki, his head down. "Thorry..." He mumbled, his eyes watering. Loki looked down at the kid that just reached upto his knees. "I forgive you boy." Loki said, gulping. Rose clasped her hands over her lips to muffle her laugh.

Loki is so awkward with kids! Aww!!

"Will you whip me?" Yevhen asked, sobbing and the smile dropped instantly from Rose's face. Loki too looked taken aback by the statement. Rose stared at Yeona who looked nervously at the floor.

"Yev! Come here darling!" Rose cooed, calling out to the little boy who now hiccuped softly. She kneeled near his side and grabbed his shoulders, wiping away the tears from his soft cheeks. "Why will someone whip you, baby? No one hurts a cutie like you."

"Really?" "Yes! If someone hurts you, I'll teach them a lesson. Now stop crying please." Yevhen smiled and Rose kissed his cheeks. "Good boy!" She picked up the child and put him down on the bed. "We should leave." Yeona said. "Can he stay a bit longer here?" Rose asked."He will trouble you and Prince." Yeona objected.

"Not at all. Loki too won't have any problem, right Loki?" She asked, giving Loki a tight smile. Loki wanted to shake his head no but the look he was getting from Rose was enough to rethink his decision. He nodded. "Sure."

Now, Loki was never comfortable with kids. They were so whiny mewling creatures. He had never approached one before and now, a little boy who dared to hit him with a berry was about to stay in the room.

How the hell will I kiss Rose in front of this urchin?

Yeona gave a behave-properly look to Yevhen before bowing again and leaving the room. Loki turned his eyes towards the boy who was already looking at him with his big blue-grey curious eyes. His tears and hiccups had long ago subsided, thanks to Rose's kisses.

Loki couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy hitting his heart. The sweet kisses and warm cuddles that only he should get was given to a innocent looking brat. Loki hated sharing his possessions and that includes his Rose too.

"Are you going to kiss him all day?" Loki asked, glaring at Rose whose eyes widened a bit and a smile crept up her lips. "I can do it! He's such a sweet boy, right Yev?" Rose tickled the boy who laughed and stuck out his tongue at Loki. "Yeth!"

"Unsolicited prat..." Loki mumbled and Rose's choosed to ignore him. "So Yev, what do you want to be when you grow up?" Rose asked, popping in a berry in her mouth.

"I want to become a brave tholdier and and thwing my thword and kill the enemieth! And then thave a pretty printheth and marry her." Yevhen replied, his eyes twinkling.

Rose laughed. "Woah! I'm sure you will be a very brave soldier and get a very beautiful princess." Loki scoffed from the other side of the bed and Rose glared at him to shut up.

"I will thave you one day and marry you." Yev said, grinning widely. Loki sprang up from the bed. "You can't marry her! You're a child!" Loki said frowning.

"Loki!" Rose scowled at him.

"I'll grow up quickly and eat loth of green vegetableth. And then marry her and you will cry!" Yev retorted back making faces at Loki. "Yevhen, no." Rose tried to hush the boy. "I'll feed you to the bigelsnapes, you urchin and-!"

"Loki! What the hell!" Rose yelled loudly. "What did I do? He started it!" Loki protested, scowling. "He's just a child! You're not!" "But that doesn't mean he will get all the kisses and-" Loki stopped abruptly, realising what he had just spat out.

He could feel his cheeks burn as he hurriedly got down from the bed. "You know what, I don't care-" he was interrupted by Rose's giggles and chuckles. "Aww! My Loki is jelly!" Rose teased, winking at him. "I'm not!"

"I don't underthand..." Yev mused, confused. "You can't because you've got nothing in there!" Loki retorted.

Rose huffed. This was the first time she felt like an adult in a room with two five years old fighting and bickering like anything. And he called me a baby...

"Alright stop right now!" Rose screeched in her high pitched tone and the boys fell silent. "Loki, if you stay silent, you'll get sweet treats and if not..." She smiled tightly. "...I won't let you sleep with me." Loki gulped and nodded."And Yev," she faced the boy. "Good boys don't behave like this. Will you be a good boy?" Yevhen nodded slowly. "Yeth."

Loki scoffed.  She didn't threaten him! It's injustice!

"So are you excited to be a big brother?" Rose asked. Yev nodded quickly."Yeth! Momma thayth if I be a good boy, my baby thithter will love me!" He said laughing. "Sister? You already know about it?" She asked, amused seeing the child so excited about his baby sibling. "No! Momma thayth it ith a boy but I thay it ith a girl! And thee will come thoon!"

"And when your sister will come, you will be dropped alone in a far away house because you are a bad boy!" Loki grinned darkly but it vanished when Yevhen's eyes started filling with tears. He sniffed as big fat tears rolled down his chubby cheeks.

Crap!

"LOKI!!"

Oh shit! Shit!

Third person's POV

"You don't understand! She's dangerous...and beautiful!" Tybalt growled, slamming his fist on the table.

"Admit it Tybalt, you were drunk and a mere mortal defeated you." The woman snickered, gulping down the wine in a go.

"Damn it! Do you really think that she's just an ordinary mortal to harm me like this!?" Tybalt grunted, pointing at his cheek. Four long gashes run from his nose till his jaw. The woman leaned and ran her finger over the gashes, humming.

"It looks like some wild animal clawed your cheek, Tybalt." She sat back, leaning against the couch. "Who is she?"

Tybalt sighed and applied a generous amount of a special healing balm on his cheek. He would never let his handsome face to scar. His left hand was hung in a sling to support the cracked bone.

"A Midgardian... Marcus said she is a special one with powers. Extraordinary beautiful..." He trailed off, a dreamy smile on his face but that dropped when the woman scoffed. "Shame on you fool. She nearly killed you and hah! you're singing her praise!"

"Praise or not, but it's true!" He slammed his mug of beer on the table. "Thor sees her as his sister and Loki-"

The woman's ears perked up at the mention of the name. "Loki! Ah yes! What about him?" She giggled at the name making Tybalt roll his eyes. "He's courting her."

The smirk fell from her face as she screamed loudly and threw away the wine glass watching it break into pieces. "NO! IT CAN'T BE!" She yelled, rubbing her face roughly. "Neith listen to-"

"He's mine. Only mine. My Loki. He can't get another woman except for me." She growled, her grey eyes wide and wild.

"He's not yours anymore Neith. Everyone is talking about their relationship and that how smitten the young prince is." Serdan spoke up, causing the maiden's head to turn around. He continued, ignoring Tybalt and Marcus who were telling him to keep quiet.

"Loki loves her a lot more than he loved you. He even strangled Tybalt once when he spoke out your name. He will never-"

"NEITH NO!" Tybalt screamed but it was too late for anything. The blade flew and lunged itself deep into Serdan's throat. Bubbles of blood spurted out from the wound as dark red fluid trailed down from his mouth.

Neith walked towards the wheezing man who has collapsed on the floor and glared at him. "I warned you before... Don't hurt my feelings. Look at the result now." She huffed.

"But don't worry Serdan, I will take what is mine. Even if it means more blood spilling but I'll never give up my Loki." The man's lifeless eyes gazed at her.

Neith casually walked back to her chair and poured wine in another glass. The room was silent as the rest gaped at the body. It happened so quickly that it took some for the rest to process it.

"What are you gonna do sister?" Tybalt broke the silence. Two men hurriedly entered and picked up the corpse. "Take out that dagger and clean it. It's my favourite one!" Neith called out and then turned to her brother.

"I don't like violence, you know." She shrugged, sipping her wine and Tybalt scoffed. "So, I will try to lure my Love and threaten that girl. I'll offer that peasant gold or something more precious than Loki. She's a gold digger, I know."

"And if it doesn't work out?"

Neith smirked and then chuckled. "I'll eliminate the girl, simple."
