Chapter Nine

Warnings: reflections of trafficked girls but instead of for sex it's for blood, angst, implicit drug use

Summary: You confront Dean about his past, but it doesn't go according to plan. You come across your sister and see her in a new light, and she drags you back into her life whether you like it or not.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dean gets off the phone with his friend in the police force and looks around his office in thought. It's eerily quiet. He can't hear you moving about which concerns him. He always hears you. He leaves his office and goes to your room but you're not in there, and there isn't any indication that you were ever here. He walks across the landing and notices a door open on the first floor.

The basement door.

Dean uses his speed and rushes downstairs to see you standing over open boxes with Annabeth's journal in your hands. You look at him with tears in your eyes.

"Y/N..."

"I look like her."

"I can explain."

"I look like her. You never liked me. You only liked me for who I resembled."

"That's not true. You're nothing like Annabeth. I made sure of it."

"Oh, you made sure of it, huh? How thoughtful of you," you shout and slam the journal to the ground. You feel used and dirty. He made you feel special. He made you feel safe and now you realize it was all a lie. "You knew I was adopted, didn't you? You knew I have fairy blood in me? You knew about me this entire time and decided to lie about it?"

"I didn't lie–"

"Don't make this out to me not digging deep enough. You had plenty of time to tell me. My own parents were dying and you still didn't tell me! My entire life is in these boxes. You've been watching me all this time?"

Dean sighs in frustration and runs his hands through his hair.

"It's more complicated than that. Just give me time to explain everything."

"Explain what? That you didn't happen to meet me at that hotel months ago? No, you were following me and wanted me to meet you. You knew about my blood before you even got a taste for it. This whole thing has been a complete lie." You wipe your tears away angrily but more spill over. "I let myself–"

You stop yourself from saying how much you've fallen for him. You shake your head and storm out of the basement angrily, and you make sure to slam your shoulder into his when you pass him.

"Y/N!"

Dean runs after you but you don't want to hear what he has to say.

"No! Don't! Just leave me alone!"

You grab your jacket from the hook by the front door and storm out of his house. Dean wants to go after you and explain everything but he knows you need time to calm down. You're so sad and angry that you don't realize you've hit the middle of the town until you hear people laugh from across the street.

You walk into Eternal Elegance but stay where the rest of the humans are instead of going to the vampire club down below. How could you be so stupid? You really thought Dean was good enough to fall for, but it turns out he's been stalking you for years. It makes you feel cheap and used. Dean has made you feel like how your sister has made you feel for years.

You order two drinks and down the first one when it gets to you. You want nothing more than to curl into a ball and cry until you can't.

"Come on, what's got you so upset?"

You look to the right and see your sister slide into the chair next to you. She looks... amazing. She looks nothing like how she did when you kicked her out months ago. She looks healthy and happy. Her blonde hair is shiny and silky, her eyes are brighter, her skin is flawless, and she gained weight to a healthy standard. Drugs made her skin and bones, so it's nice to see her at a healthy weight.

"Amber?"

"Long time no see, sister."

She orders a double shot and immediately tosses it back when she gets it.

"You look good."

"Thank you. I got an opportunity to better myself."

"Are you serious? This is real? You're actually going to try this time?"

"I don't have to try. That's the beauty of being a vampire," she grins.

You look at her with narrowed eyes.

"What did you just say?"

Her fangs slide down while she is grinning and your eyes widen in horror.

"I upgraded."

"What the hell did you do?"

Amber grabs your arm and grips it so tightly that you know it will leave a bruise behind. You gasp in pain and try to pull away but she's a lot stronger than you are.

"No, what the hell did you do? I needed help but you threw me out like trash. Someone picked me up and bit me."

"Amber, you're hurting me."

She loosens her grip and you yank your arm out of her grip.

"This man took me back to his place where there were all these other girls half dazed out of their minds. I became one of them. In exchange for my blood, he gave me drugs. He abused me until I realized I didn't want to do it anymore. I was going to take my own life, but I heard down the grapevine that in order to turn into one of them, I had to inject vampire blood into me. So, I waited. I waited until he got so high on blood that he didn't notice me sticking him with a needle."

You open and close your mouth like a fish, unable to form a coherent sentence. All your thoughts are jumbled in your brain and you try to find the right one to say.

"Why would you want that?"

"It's the best damn thing that has ever happened to me. I'm stronger, faster, flawless, and I can down a kilo of coke and not feel like how I used to. All the reward with none of the consequences." Again, you can't seem to find the words. "You should try it. I swear, life is so much better as a vampire."

You look down at the bar table with tears in your eyes. She doesn't know what you have been through for the past few months. She doesn't know about your parents.

"Mom and Dad are dead." You look at her with tears. "They died in a car accident a few months ago."

"Why should I care about them when they didn't give a rat's ass about me?"

Your heart breaks at her attitude. She lives such a hollow life and it shows.

"Did you know I was adopted?"

"I was not expecting that. Not surprised they kept it from you, though."

"My birth parents were fairies and dragons which makes my blood special."

"Wow, special blood. Big whoop," she rolls her eyes.

You hate how she's making you feel right now. Even after this new transformation, she's still the same sister you loathe.

"Dean knew about it and he kept it from me."

"Yeah, way to tell me he and his pretty friend Amara are vampires."

"It wasn't my secret to tell."

Amber swivels to face you and she grabs your hands gently.

"Come with me. We can be sisters again. Remember what that was like? We did everything together."

"Yeah, before you left me behind for drugs."

"I'm serious, Y/N. All you need to do is exchange blood with the man I was with. It's easy. We can be together forever."

You pull your hands away from her and she lets you, thankfully.

"Wait, why can't I do it with you?"

"Yeah, I tried that. My blood can heal others but only until your blood has matured can you turn someone with it. That takes a few centuries to do otherwise the entire world would be filled with vampires."

"I don't know," you sigh. "Dean is expecting me back."

"Fine," she scoffs. "Go back to being his human blood bag or you can be turned and start living your life. Mom and Dad wouldn't have wanted this for you. You were the golden child. If you turned, you could travel the world and not have to worry about money." You open your mouth to answer but nothing comes out. She makes the decision for you and grabs your hands. "Come on."

Amber drags you to a house on the top of a hill that's by its lonesome. The feeling of dread increases the closer you get to it. The house looks like the ones that Dean infiltrates.

"Amber, I don't want to be here. I want to go home."

You try to wriggle your hand out of hers but she only tightens her grip.

"What home?"

She brings you inside the house and you almost gag at how disgusting it smells. It smells like BO, blood, and sex.

"Why are you still here, Amber? You said it yourself. You can go anywhere."

A look of sadness runs across her face.

"I have nowhere to go."

Just like that, the moment is gone and she's pulling you into the living room. There is a man sitting on the couch with two girls on either side of him. Two more girls sit on the ground with their heads resting against the couch. The man has a beer belly, hairy arms, a scraggly beard, and evil eyes. All four girls have a dazed look in their eyes, they're all wearing nothing but nude panties and bras, and they all have bite marks all over their bodies. Poor girls. Seeing them like this brings tears to your eyes, and you look away in heartbreak.

Amber pushes you over to the man who catches you easily. You have to stop yourself from throwing up because you're absolutely disgusted by his hands touching your body.

"You're so pretty," he grins.

He moves your hair to the side to see old bite marks that Dean left behind. It was his way of letting other vampires know you were taken. Each vampire has a certain scent behind their bites so each vampire can tell who the human belongs to.

"I've been marked," you whisper.

"Yeah, I know. You're D's girl."

He pulls you closer to him and you try your best not to cringe away from him. His hot breath falls over your cheek and tears silently stream down your cheeks.

"Please let me go," you beg.

"No, I don't think I will," he grins with his fangs out. "Thank you, Amber, for bringing her here."

You look at Amber who doesn't have an ounce of remorse on her face. He reaches into his pocket and produces a plastic baggie with white powder in it. He tosses it to her which she accepts eagerly. Again, you are a pawn in her game. All she wants is drugs and she will betray anyone to get it.

*****

It's been hours since you left the house and Dean is on edge. He hasn't stopped pacing his office. She should have been back by now. Where the hell is she? He takes out his phone and debates on calling you but will you answer? Fuck that. Call her, you idiot. Dean dials your number but you don't pick up. He tries two more times but it goes straight to voicemail which means you turned your phone off.

No, he's not doing this. Annabeth was very stubborn and often tested him like this, and he's not doing it again. If you don't want to talk, that's fine, but he has to know that you're safe. The best thing about humans is that they leave a scent wherever they go that vampires can pick up on and because you have such rare blood, he can easily track you.

Your scent takes him to the road and down the hill toward the town. He follows your scent right into Eternal Elegance and he has to hide his smile at the thought of you coming here. You might be mad that he kept all this from you but the reason why you're so upset is because you've fallen for him. He's fallen for you, too, more than he ever did with Annabeth.

"Hey, Dean," the bartender greets.

"Hey, have you seen Y/N anywhere?"

"Yeah, she was here earlier."

"Did she leave with anyone?"

"Yeah, she left with a blonde babe." Dean takes out his phone and pulls up a picture of Amber to show the bartender. "Yeah, that's her. A dirty version of her but her."

"Thanks."

Dean leaves the bar and tries to track your scent along hundreds in the town. When he gets to the edge of town, he finds your scent along with Amber's Her blood smells... different. It's richer and more bitter. Dean curses and shakes his head disapprovingly. She's a vampire and she's with you. That's not a good combination.

Your scent stops in the middle of the road and he looks around to see where you might have gone. If Amber were a vampire, she wouldn't have the skills needed to disappear. At best, she's a few months old. Dean turns and sees a dirt road that leads to a lone house on top of a hill. Dean's blood turns cold. He knows exactly where this leads. The owner of the house, Richard, has been known to be involved in the blood slave trafficking business. He'd been tracking him for a long time but whenever he got remotely close, he'd never have anything incriminating inside. Dean just doesn't go around killing vampires for the fun of it. He has to have a reason. As much as he suspects Richard is involved, there is no proof.

Dean speeds to the house and approaches the front door cautiously. He tries to think of a plan to be as discreet as possible but then he hears something that absolutely crushes his soul.

You're crying inside.

He busts down the door and runs inside. There are girls inside the living room high out of their mind, and you're sitting in the middle of the group with tears down your cheeks and blood on your arms. You turn when you hear Dean come in and show him the bite marks on your arm.

"He bit me," you cry.

Dean speeds around the house but Richard and Amber are both gone. Dean kneels down next to you and inspects your wound. He wants to heal you but his blood would only turn you and he can't do that to you. Annabeth asked repeatedly for him to turn her but he never did. He can't fathom the idea of the woman he loves as horrible as something like a vampire.

He takes off his jacket and wraps it around your arm to cover it until he can properly dress the wound. He helps you to your feet and lets you use him as support to help you walk.

"Come on, let's go."

"What about the girls?" you sniffle.

"I'll call Cas."

Dean takes you outside and calls Cas who rushes right over. Dean waits with you until Cas comes, and he helps get the girls into the van to be taken to one of the many safe houses. Dean takes you back to his place so he can take care of your wound. The tears have stopped flowing but you haven't stopped sniffling. It hurts him to see you in such pain but he doesn't say a word as he cleans and dresses your wound.

"I'm sorry I can't heal you," he sighs.

"Will you turn me?"

"What?"

"Please turn me," you whimper.

He reaches up and tucks a hair behind your ear.

"Why would you want that?"

"Life would be so much better. I wouldn't have to feel like this anymore. I hate feeling so small and cheap. I hate being walked over and manipulated. I am tired of letting people control my life whether that be you or my sister. I could finally stand up for myself and take back my life."

Dean sighs and steps away from you to create distance.

"I'm sorry, Y/N, but I'm not turning you into a vampire."

The anger from before returns and you stand up to your full height even though it's not going to intimidate Dean.

"Why not? Are you scared I won't be your blood bag anymore?"

"Look, you've had a rough night. Why don't you get some sleep and we can talk about everything in the morning."

Dean turns to leave but you're not done yet.

"No! I'm not done! Don't you walk away from me!" Dean stops and turns to face you. "All I've ever been to you is convenient. All you've ever wanted from me is my precious blood and nothing else!"

"You've got it all wrong, Y/N!" Dean yells back. "You mean more to me than anything I've ever known in my life! Even Annabeth!"

"Yeah, right," you scoff. You walk past him and push him out of the way. "I'm done. I am done bending myself to your every beck and call. I want out of this deal."

"Where are you going to go?" he calls after you as you walk up the stairs. "Your parents are dead!"

"Anywhere is better than being here!" you shout.

You slam your bedroom door and slide down the wall in tears. You don't know what's real anymore.
