Sway with Me
05:27, 21 April 2022Camilo stared at you, lost for words. "I—I, uh..." He stuttered.
He snapped out of it and quickly changed his demeanor. "Y-Yeah, sure, I'm cool with that." He shrugged.
He placed his other hand on his hip, trying to act all cool and collected. You laughed at his response, continuing to lean your head on his shoulder.
The cheers Antonio received when he returned grabbed both of your attentions.
Abuela knelt down in front of him, holding his face. "I knew you could do it! A gift just as special as you."
She then gasped. "We need a picture! Everyone! Come, come, come! It's a great night! It's a perfect night!"
"Sorry, madam, but duty calls." Camilo said, gently removing his arm from around you. You lifted your head from his shoulder, allowing him to leave.
"Of course, of course, Your Excellency." You bowed down.
"We shall meet again soon." And carefully taking your hand, he kissed it.
Giggling, you shooed him off. "Alright, my knight in shining armor. Now, go."
Camilo two-finger saluted you and ran up to the group. The entire Madrigal family now standing together, preparing to pose for the camera. Everyone was there. Everyone except... Mirabel.
"Everyone, together! La Familia Madrigal!"
You noticed how Mirabel didn't go up to join them in the picture, so you turned to the side to tell her, but she wasn't there.
"Mirabel?" You asked, looking around for her.
Another headache from out of nowhere suddenly hit you, but this time, it was much worse. You felt as if you were going to throw up and your vision blurred slightly. Almost tipping over, a person who was nearby caught you.
"Hey, kid, you okay?" He asked.
You looked up at him, not knowing why he immediately screamed and ran away. Your eyes were once again glowing white, but you didn't know that.
He ran off, screaming, leaving you to stumble and almost fall to the ground. Finding a nearby wall, you rested your body against it. You cried silently as the pain only seemed to get worse.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, (Y/N)." Camilo said, rushing over to you. You remained leaning against the wall, not opening your eyes.
"Are you okay?" He asked, gently grabbing your shoulders and making you face him. Opening your eyes, your vision seemed to clear, but it was still blurry because of the tears.
"I-I'm fine." You blinked, the tears rolling down your face.
Camilo placed his hands on your cheeks, cupping your face in his hands. With his thumbs, he wiped away the tears.
"You don't look 'fine'." His brows furrowed. "You don't need to lie to me, (Y/N)."
"N-No, seriously, I'm fine." You grabbed his arm reassuringly. Camilo searched your eyes, only to see pain and hurt.
"You're not fine. You're staying with me for the rest of the night." He ordered, holding you close to him as you both walked over to the tree where everyone else was.
"Alright, alright, fine, fine. I need to give Antonio his present, anyway." You and Camilo walked over to the tree, where there was a lot of commotion and partying going on.
Walking up the steps and to where Antonio and the others were, Tía Julieta spotted you both and ran up to you guys.
"Ah, (Y/N), Camilo, there you are." She looked at your face and sensed something was wrong.
"Is everything all right with (Y/N)?" She asked.
Camilo was about to answer for you when you spoke up. "Totally fine. Why do you ask?"
"(Y/N), your eyes are red and watery. It looks like you've been crying." She brought up, and you immediately wiped away any stray tears.
You laughed nervously and made up an excuse. "N-No, I'm not. My eyes are just sweating."
She stared at you with a raised brow.
"Alright, fine." You sighed. "It's just my headache. It won't go away and it keeps getting worse."
"Mhm." Tía Julieta hummed, nodding her head. "Here, why don't you two go get some food? You're probably hungry, is all." She said, handing you a buñuelo from the plate she was holding.
Nodding your head, you took the buñuelo from her hand and thanked her. She then walked away, serving the plate of food she was holding to the people around.
Turning your head towards Camilo, your eyes met his. "You can get some food. I gotta find Antonio." You insisted.
"You sure?" He asked you, wanting to confirm.
You nodded and patted his cheek. "I'm sure."
He smiled and rested his face in your hand before letting go of you and walking over to the table where the food was.
You sighed, your headache still bothering you. "Alright. Where's that Antonio?"
To your surprise, you'd thought it would be much more difficult to find him. But in the end, you spotted Antonio not too far away, dancing with his mother and father.
You quickly ate the buñuelo and rushed over to Antonio. "Hey, Toño!" You smiled. He looked up at you and saw the box in your hands.
"(Y/N), come dance with us!" He invited, gesturing with his hands for you to come over.
You chuckled and waved your hand. "Sorry, Toño, but I don't dance." You knelt down in front of him.
"Here, I wanted to give you your present since I didn't really get to give it to you earlier." You held out the box for him to open.
He stopped dancing and looked at you, curiosity filling his eyes. Lifting the lid, he let out a tiny gasp. Taking out the cub, he stared at it in awe.
"It's so cute... and tiny!" He held it carefully and gave it a brief hug.
"Yeah, just like you! I figured you'd like it." You held the box under your arm and ruffled his hair.
"What's its name?" He asked you.
"Well, since it's a boy, I thought I'd name it Anthony. Tony for short." You watched and smiled as Antonio played with the cub.
He ran up to his parents and showed them the animal. "Look what (Y/N) got me!" He smiled the biggest grin you've ever seen him smile.
"Aw, it's very adorable, like you, my Antonio." Tía Pepa smiled.
"Can you hold it for me real quick?" He asked his Papá.
He took the cub from Antonio and as soon as he did, Antonio came darting over to you, hugging you tightly.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, (Y/N)!" He looked up at you and smiled.
You laughed, returning the smile. "Of course, now go have fun. Enjoy your night, Antonio."
He let go of you and went to continue dancing. Suddenly, you heard someone call your name from behind you. Turning around, you saw Camilo, who was staring at you, holding two plates of food. Finding a nearby trash can, you threw away the empty box and ran up to him.
"Here, mi amor, for you." He gave you a plate along with a smile.
"Aw, you're too sweet. Thank you." You took the plate from his hand.
"Anything for you, boo." He smirked and winked at you.
You were pretty sure that you were a puddle now, considering how many times you've melted at his words.
Rolling your eyes, you chuckled and took a bite out of an aborrajado. And for the rest of the night, you and Camilo ate your food, danced, and had fun.
That is, until Mirabel came running from out of nowhere.
"The house is in danger!" She panted. "The house is in danger!"
The music stopped, and everyone looked towards Mirabel.
"The tiles were falling, and there were cracks everywhere. And the candle almost went out." She continued.
There was murmuring from the people around, and Abuela only looked taken aback.
"Show me." She told Mirabel, making her way out of the room.
Exiting the room, the house appeared to be in perfect condition and the candle was still burning.
Mirabel adjusted her glasses and gasped lightly. "What?" She whispered.
You were just as confused as Mirabel was. There weren't any cracks or anything, and everything seemed to be just fine.
"No, that's..." She walked down to the very bottom of the stairs. "The cracks were there. They were... everywhere. The house was in trouble, the candle was..." She told her. "Abuela, I promise..." She tried to explain, but Abuela cut her off.
"That's enough." She told Mirabel. Turning towards the people, Abuela said, "There is nothing wrong with La Casa Madrigal." She reassured. "The magic is strong. And so are the drinks." She added, earning a scattered laughter from the crowd.
"Please! Music!" She clapped her hands. "A bailar! A bailar!"
"Psst." Tío Agustín whispered.
Luisa brought over the piano, and he played an upbeat tune. The chatter had returned, and Mirabel remained standing there in the courtyard.
"Let's go, (Y/N)." Camilo ushered you, holding onto your arms from behind as you both made your way back into Antonio's room.
