Kill the Lights

17:55, 26 September 2020

{White's POV}

The lights flickered, and then, they went out. I squealed, only the light of my suit showing light, but I couldn't even see a foot in front of me.

I heard Purple's voice, "Follow me. We need to go fix the lights." I listened to the sound of his voice and footsteps. I felt unsafe, what if Yellow was here, looking for an opportunity? Am I going to die? Is Red dead? Did someone die? I walked around, when I felt something swipe across my back, it was long and thin, like a spiked tongue. I squeaked, tripping on the floor. "Pur-Purple!" I yelped as the long appendage locked onto my ankle. I never heard a response. "Is anyone here? Red?"

The lights flicked on, and nobody was there. No more tongue. Not a single soul around me in the hall. I shuddered, what was that? An alien? Isn't the Impostor an alien? Am I next? Was Yellow about to kill me? I tried to stop thinking about it, but I couldn't help but be terrified.

I heard someone walk down the hall, "Hello?" It was Purple. "Oh, thank goodness." Purple eyed my up and down, "What are you doing on the floor?" He asked coldly. I looked down, "Oh!" I rose up, brushing dirt and dust off my body.

"Did something happen while I was fixing the lights?" He crosses his hands. I shook my head, not wanting to alarm Purple, then again, does anything alarm him? I still felt the feeling of the tentacle-like appendage on my ankle. I shivered in fear from the feeling.

Purple escorts me over to the cafeteria, "We need to gather the others, I have an announcement." He presses the emergency button, the alarm sounding through the whole ship. Eventually, everyone stood around the table, whispering amongst each other. Not a single person missing. I glance over at Red, waving, and it felt good that he waved back, considering I left him alone for so long. Purple was scolding me a little for possibly breaking the one of the few machines that fix the reactor.

"Ladies and gentlemen, order, order." Purple spoke up, and everyone stood their attention to him. "We need to stop at Mira HQ for supplies. Hopefully it will go quickly so we can go to Polus in a timely manner." Some people groaned, yet others listened silently. "We still need to stay alert, I would recommend sticking together in groups. Nobody leaves the ship while we're at Mira HQ without our permission." Black spoke up, sternly talking us down. It was scary when he was dead serious.

We went back to our tasks, except myself, I followed Red, and he seemed nervous, "Hey, Red." He jolts around to face me, "Are you alright?" He nods, yet I could tell he didn't seem okay. "Do you want to go back to our room?" He nods again, so we walk in that direction.

I looked down by Red's side. I was simply staring at his hand. With as much courage I had in my soul, I wrapped my pinkie around his. I winced, expecting him to flinch away, but he didn't.

We open the door and sat down on the floor across from each other. There was a silence, then Red spoke up. "I know that we're not really supposed to ask each other this, but," He took a moment, "What's your name?" I flinched a little, we were only supposed to address each other as the color of our suits. Although it wasn't allowed, I told him, "Angel. It's short for Angelo." I took a sigh of relief, and Red chuckles, "Angel, huh? That's a pretty- pretty-" If I wasn't mistake, he was stuttering, and he seemed very flustered, "Pretty, nice, name. It's a pretty nice name." He rubbed the back of his head. "What's your name?" I asked, and Red looked away, "I... don't remember." I wasn't shocked, but more disappointed or saddened, "You don't even remember your own name? That must be awful.." He chuckled nervously, "Heh, yeah, but I'm fine with being called Red." I sunk down into skin, not remembering your own name? I couldn't imagine forgetting my own.

There was a thump, and it seems the ship has landed. We heard an announcement "Please stay where you are. Nobody is to leave through the dropship." It sounded like Purple's voice.

We waited for a long time, then the power suddenly went out. Out of shock and fear, I jump onto Red, holding onto him tightly. Red walked outside the room with me in his hands.

We wandered around, and I wondered how Red was able to see. Maybe he was akin to this kind of darkness.

Then, something smelled awful. The power flickered on, and there was a knife in the back of Black's lifeless body.
