I dont know
15:02, 9 April 2021"How is she?" Hank ran into the waiting room to see Kim and jay sat looking off into space, jay stood up and shrugged, "she woke up in the car but wills still working on her" he spoke sadly. Hank nodded, "good" he sighed and signalled for everyone to take a seat. No one knew where to start, did she fall over the railings? Did she jump over? Did someone push her? Did someone do something to her? All the knew was this wasn't okay, and they needed to solve it soon before they all became sick with worry.
Jay was sat looking at the floor, his mind was overpowering compared to his body and his thoughts were flying all over the place. He was snapped out of his thoughts when Will walked out, "is she okay?" He stood up and walked towards his brother. Jays sudden change in mood gained the unit's attention and they all stood up too, "she's fine. She's got no structural damage at all so whatever happened most likely wasn't on her own accord, we found traces of laced fentanyl in her bloodstream which is why she was out for so long" will sighed. They all nodded but they were all shocked and confused, "she hasn't got hypothermia which is both good and surprising but she's still warming up. Looks like she'd been outside for quite some time..." he added. They all sighed, "can we see her?" Jay spoke eagerly.
Will smiled, "she's sleeping it off right now but you can take turns in being with her, it could be an hour or two before she starts fully talking though" he nodded. Jay smiled and looked at the team who were all relieved yet confused, "go be with her" hank waved jay off first. Jay smiled gratefully and nodded before following Will to her treatment room. Jay froze when he saw an extremely pale Taylor wrapped up in blankets and hooked up to IV lines, the sight was heartbreaking. He stepped into her room as Will closed the door for him, it was now just the two partners in the room. He sat down on the chair next to her bed and just stared at her, why did he have to ruin things between them? Was Adam right? If she left the unit would he ever find another partner like her again? Does she hate him?
It was almost as if Taylor could read his thoughts, she was resting on her side whilst being wrapped up in blankets but she somehow managed to open her eyes slightly and saw jay sat in the chair next to her, she closed her eyes again since the light was too bright and slid her hand out from under the sheets. She held her arm off the side of the bed with her hand opened up, jay looked down and saw her hand open in front of him and looked back up to her in confusion. She had her eyes closed but he knew what she was telling him to do, without a second thought he held her hand as a small smile formed on her face. Maybe he hadn't ruined things after all? Maybe she doesn't hate him? He smiled and moved her arm back onto the bed so she could rest comfortably while keeping a hold of her hand, she needed support right now and he was more then happy to help her.
"Do you remember anything at all?" Hank stood at the end of her hospital bed now that she had warmed up and could talk fully. Jay was still sat by her side, turns out he had been there for the whole two hours while she was asleep, and he stayed there even when the rest of the unit took turns in seeing her. Taylor huffed in frustration, "nothing, I don't know what happened..." she rubbed her face. Jay frowned, "was it foul play?" He spoke softly. Taylor looked at him and smiled weakly, "it could've been, I don't know..." she looked down. It was only them three in the room, "okay, so we'll start from scratch, talk us over everything" hank nodded and folded his arms. Taylor smiled and took a deep breath while she tried to remember everything even though there wasn't much to remember, "I got home and changed into something warmer, then I started walking to navy pier. Everything was normal until I got to the end of the pier and that's when I felt something sharp in my neck, it all went black from there..." she frowned.
The pair nodded sadly, "alright, we'll it's our case now. Rest up and I'll be back with any updates we find" hank smiled and left the room. Jay stood up but Taylor stopped him in his tracks, "about yesterday..." she spoke regretfully about their mini argument. Jay stopped at the door and turned around with a small smile on his face, "we'll talk about it another time tayls, just save your energy for now" he tilted his head. Taylor smiled back and nodded, "I'll be back the second we hear anything" he nodded then left her to rest. Taylor smiled, this was the nicest he's been in so long and she was happy with that. At least she knows why he's been acting off with her, he obviously told the unit too about her priors being disclosed which is why they followed his actions, she could see where they were fully coming from so she didn't mind too much.
God she hates hospitals, 2 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, time just seems to be endless in this place. Luckily for her though, she had the pleasant company of Will who kept on checking on her every so often. She had been at med since 6am and it was now 1pm, she hadn't heard anything from the unit but she figured they were working hard. Will walked into the room once again, "you just can't stay away from me huh?" She teased him. Will laughed, "who would wanna stay away from you?" He smiled and placed his iPad onto the side to check her vitals. She laughed as he checked her stats, "your vitals are slowly getting there, you should be out of here later today if everything stays the same. How you feeling? Cold? Warm?" He tilted his head and entered the check ups into the system.
Taylor smiled, "I feel a little cold but I guess that's normal right?" She raised an eyebrow since she was still recovering from hypothermia. Will smiled, "totally normal, but if you need any more blankets just let me know. You might look like an Eskimo but oh well, who cares?" he smirked and shrugged. She laughed but nodded, "I'll take you up on that offer" she over exaggerated her chattering teeth. Will laughed, "copy that" he nodded and left to go get her some more warmth. It wasn't long before he reappeared holding a woolly blanket, "m'lady" he joked and put it over her. Taylor laughed, "ahhh my hero" she smiled and pulled it closer to her, this would bring her total up to 4 blankets and the bed sheet. Will laughed but his pager went off before he could start a conversation, "I'll be back later on" he nodded, Taylor smiled and watched him leave.
Just before she could crash into another deep sleep while the IV line ran through her system, hank and jay walked back into her room. She opened her eyes before her head could hit the pillow, "sorry for disturbing your peace but we need you to look at these pictures..." Jay frowned once he saw how tired she looked. Taylor nodded and looked at the picture he was holding up in front of her as he leant on the arm of the hospital bed, "do you recognise any of them, we know what happened but we need the suspect first" hank pointed to the 6 men on the sheet. Taylor squinted at the paper, "I saw him stood by a tree like a minute before it all went black..." she looked at the pair. Hank looked at jay and nodded, "we'll explain everything later, I promise" jay nodded as he followed hank back out of the room in a hurry. Taylor smiled tiredly and nodded as he left, she couldn't be bothered hearing the story now anyways so she just fell into the sleep she was bout to have before the pair blessed her with their presence.
She woke up to the sight of jay sitting next to her bed on a chair, "oh god, how long have I been sleeping for?" She groggily snapped out of it. Jay laughed, "a few hours but don't worry I've only been sat here for a few minutes" he smiled when he saw her shock. Taylor sighed in relief, "what happened?" She sighed and sat up in the bed slightly. Jay frowned and sat up too, "we found some footage of you walking along navy pier, you smiled at our suspect then carried on walking. He ran up behind you and drugged you, used a needle full of laced fentanyl which is why you were out the whole night" he sighed. Taylor raised her eyebrows and nodded for him to carry on, she subconsciously rubbed her neck where the man injected her in the process, "after you fell he picked you up and carried you down onto the shore, I guess that's where he placed you on a rock..." he frowned as he remembered the fear that flooded his senses when he saw her.
Taylor looked down, "is he from a past case or something?" She spoke quietly. Jay smiled sadly as she looked down, "nope, he thought you saw him plant the drugs so he took care of the situation wrongfully" he sighed. Taylor scoffed and nodded, "but I didn't..." she raised her eyebrows. Jay shook his head, "nope" he smiled sadly. Taylor smiled back, "funny how the world works huh?" She joked. Jay smiled, "very" he nodded and laughed. Taylor smiled then turned a little more serious, "about yesterday, I shouldn't have snapped at you..." she started but jay cut her off, "no, don't be sorry. I'm the one in the wrong, I shouldn't have looked at your file and I shouldn't have assumed things..." he frowned. Taylor smiled, "don't do that to yourself jay, anyone would've done the same. I get it, it looks dodgy as hell but I promise the second I can tell you, you'll be the first to know" she smiled. Jay had no clue what that meant but he smiled and nodded, "I'm sorry for treating you like shit" he smiled regretfully. Taylor smiled and shook his head, "that doesn't matter, we're good and we're always gonna be good" she smiled back.
Jay smiled back thankfully, he doesn't deserve her one bit but here she was, sticking by his side through thick and thin. Adam was right, she was one of a kind and he didn't wanna lose her, ever. "I see wills been keeping you company huh?" He lightened the mood a little. Taylor laughed, "he has and you're exactly like him. Maybe even a little more stubborn then he is" she smirked. Jay opened his mouth in pretend offence, "ouch" he clutched his chest playfully. Taylor smiled and chuckled, god how he's missed that laugh, "did he say when you can leave?" He pointed to the red head stood outside talking to nurse sexton. Taylor shrugged, "he said I'll be discharged later today but honestly if it isn't anytime soon I might pull a runner" she smiled. Jay chuckled, they both hate hospitals equally and they would both do anything to avoid them. The pair talked for a while before Will walked back in and handed her some discharge papers, she happily signed them as jay opposed to take her home. Of course she agreed since she didn't really have a choice, he would've dragged her into his car if he had to. She went home and jay stayed a while to make sure she was okay then left her to rest.
