Chapter 18: The baby

12:51, 13 July 2021

Nat was almost crying in pain, her eyes brimming with tears. Steve's blood pressure was dropping as he saw her in so much pain. It broke his heart to see such a strong woman on the verge of falling apart. He and Clint tried to get her to do her breathing exercises. She almost punched them both as they isn't help at all; all they did was make her dizzy. Vision can jogging in with Dr Cho, and she cried out "Everybody out except for the father!" The others all complied, giving the couple worried looks. Clint and Yelena hesitated in the doorway, before Dr Cho shooed them off.

"Right, agent Romanoff, how're you doing?" She asked, soothingly."In a lot- AAAHH- of- FUCKING- pain!" She yelled, turning Steve's knuckles blue with strength and agony."I can see that. I'm just going to see if the baby is crowning yet." She moved over, and gently took a look. "Ah, yes. Natasha, I would like you to begin pushing as soon as you feel the next surge of pain." Natasha shook her head, scrunching up her face."I can't!" She wailed, fear evident in her cry."'Tasha, why not?" Steve whispered, stroking her sweaty hair."I can't do this parenting thing. How can I juggle it and avenging? It's just not possible!" She despaired, crying, tears pouring down her face. Yelena, standing just outside the door, heard this and peered through the glass windows, shocked and frightened at how broken her big sister had appeared. Nat had always been her strong, brave role model, and seeing her like this was as hard as a painful blow to the stomach. Clint touched her shoulder, and she turned to face him; he was almost as pale as her. She tried to open the door and run in, to comfort her crying sister, but Clint grabbed her."Let me go! My sister needs me!" She cried, struggling in his grasp, her emotions getting to her."She's going to be ok. She's the strongest woman I know, and I've got a wife who went through this three times! She's got cap in there with her as well. She's going to be fine."

"Nat, everything is going to be alright, you'll be an excellent mum, and you'll have something more to strive for to help create a safer world for our baby to grow up in. Come on, Natasha, you can do it." Steve supported, caressing her cheek."You ready, Natasha?" Dr Cho asked, smiling at her encouragingly. Natasha nodded, getting ready to push. "Ok, when you feel another contraction, I want you to push as hard as you can whilst I count to ten. Once I have reached ten, stop pushing until the next contraction." Nat nodded. She felt a strong surge of pain, and she pushed with all of her strength. Steve held onto her hand tightly, urging her on. Yelena and Clint watched from the window, their hearts in their throats.

A little while later, Nat was fast asleep on the floor, exhausted, Steve sitting down next to her. He carefully stood up and moved towards the door. Clint opened it, and Yelena gasped in delight, bringing the attention of the others on Steve. In his arms was a tiny little baby, identical to Natasha, only with Steve's blond hair sticking up in small tufts. "Nat's asleep, she deserves it." He smiled, looking down at his daughter."Does she have a name?" Tony asked, as Steve gently handed her to her aunt, Yelena crying with joy."Uh, yeah. It's Lily Yelena Romanoff-Rogers." He beamed, looking over at Yelena. She smiled back at him with pride, marvelling at her niece. Lily cooed at her namesake, making everyone's hearts melt. Natasha began to stir, before waking up and crying out."Where is she? Where is my baby?" Steve came jogging into the room beside her, Yelena following slower in pursuit."Here she is." Yelena smiled, handing her over. Nat starting crying. "Sshh." She soothed. "You are so strong, Nat. And you are so brave. You're going to be a great mum, I just know it." She hugged her, Lily grabbing her mother's finger.

Woo! Nat and Steve finally had their baby! I hope you guys have enjoyed this story, unfortunately I am not going to write the sequel until I have watched endgame, and I'm sceptical of watching it because it has been nearly 48 hours since I have watched the black widow movie and I am still emotionally traumatised! 😂😂😭😭
