Chapter 9 – I Want Her Back!

The Doctor's P.O.V.

“Yes, Doctor. Madison is alive and well. But she's stuck in Earth's parallel universe.”

Those same words played over and over inside my head. I just couldn't believe it. Madison was still alive! I had watched her die in my arms, but I she was still alive all this time. But she was stuck in another universe. I needed to get to her.

“Doctor? Doctor!”

“Sorry, what?” I asked, snapping out of my thoughts.

“Are you okay?” Amy asked, sitting down beside me.

“Yeah, fine. Just a little shocked.”

“Same. And a little confused. What's a parallel Universe?”

“It's the exact copy of the world we live in, but everything is opposite. Their time line is also running ahead of ours.” I explained.

“Right, okay. Doctor? How can Maddy still be alive? I know what U.N.I.T said, but we were there when she... died. How is it possible?” She asked.

“I don't know, Amy. That's what I'm here to find out.” I sighed, pushing myself from the floor.

“Okay, but stay calm. We don't want a repeat of earlier.”

“I will. Where's Rory?” I asked, only just noticing the man's absence.

“He's with that Captain Rachel Minnet woman. He was trying to find out more abut what's going on, but when I left, he wasn't getting very far.” Amy replied, getting up of the floor too.

“Come on then. Let's go see if we can help.” I smiled, walking off down a corridor.

See, when I had heard the news about Madison, I just walked off. I couldn't be in that room with everyone around and all the questions running round my mind. After a while, Amy had come to find me. Now we just needed to find out what is happening.

We walked down a long white corridor, before Amy stopped me outside a large conference room. She knocked before pushing the door open, to reveal Rory and Captain Rachel Minnet in deep conversation.

“What do you mean you can't tell me?” Rory demanded, not noticing we were behind him.

“I'm sorry, sir, but anymore information about Miss Brown's case is for relatives only. Are you a close or blood relative?” Captain Rachel asked, rubbing her forehead.

“No I'm not, but...”

“Then I can't tell you anything more. You and your friends need to understand that your not relatives, so I can't tell you anything.”

“Maddy hasn't got any relatives.” I announced, causing the pair to turn to face me.

“I'm sorry to hear that, Doctor. But we can't say anymore to you.” Captain Rachel explained once more.

“I was all that Madison had. I was her boyfriend and Amy and Rory were her friends. Now you need to tell me what has happened.” I said, walking closer to her.

“Doctor, I'm sorry....”

“No, don't be sorry. Just tell me.”

“I can't.” Captain Rachel hissed.

“You'll tell me.”

“I'M NOT ALLOWED TO TELL YOU ANYTHING, DOCTOR! SO JUST BACK OFF!” She suddenly yelled, as angry washed over her face.

“Oh Captain Rachel Minnet. You seemed so lovely and I'd hate to bring down your career. But just remember I could do it in a few simple words. I'll find out what you all did to Madison, one way or another. And I will get her back, just watch me. And if any of U.N.I.T. try to stop me, I will stop you.”

“Is that a threat, Doctor?” She asked, glaring a me.

“No. It was a promise.” I replied, before turning and exiting the room.

I stormed out the room and heard Amy and Rory follow behind me. I quickly walked back to the room which the TARDIS was parked in, only to be met by several U.N.I.T. members pointing guns at me.

“What do you think you're doing?”I asked.

“You're alien, Doctor and so is your ship. You have threatened members of our team, which makes you an alien threat. Which means we are going to have to arrest and detain you, your friends and your ship.” A member explained,stepping closer to us.

“Oh right. Sure thing!” I smiled.

“Doctor? What are you doing?” Amy asked, as her and Rory held up their hands in surrender.

“Handing over our lives and the TARDIS, Amy. What does it look like?”

“You're what?” Rory exclaimed.

“Silence! Doctor, the key to your ship please.” The worker demanded, holding out his hand.

“Yes, of course! Oh no...I seem to have left in in the TARDIS. Excuse me a second while I go grab it for you. Amy, Rory? Do you want to come and grab your jackets? We may be here a while!” I smiled, nodding towards the TARDIS.

“Ummm, sure?” They agreed, sounding unsure.

“We'll be right back.”I said, walking towards the TARDIS as U.N.I.T kept their guns trained on us.

I casually walked over and opened the doors to my ship, as Amy and Rory followed behind. I sent a quick smile at the worried U.N.I.T members, before shutting the door and running up to the console.

“Doctor, what are you doing?Why did you give up so easily?” Amy asked, crossing her arms.

“Really, Amy? You believed that? I must be a good actor. I'm not really giving in, this is us running away quickly!” I sighed, starting to set the controls.

“Oh right. But we didn't really find anything out, what are we going to do next?”

“Maybe I can help?” A voice called out from the doors.

We all span round to see Captain Rachel Minnet stood at the doors.

“Get out of my TARDIS.” I snapped, walking over to her.

“By rights, Doctor, this ship is U.N.I.T's. But if you don't want my help with Miss Brown, then I'll just leave and tell the armed members outside that you are actually running away.” She smirked, turning to walk out.

“Wait. Help us how?”

“This building is built around the unidentified energy we found and used on Miss Brown. Room 379 is the room that it all takes place. If you come back tonight at 8:30, I'll make sure I'm on guarding duty. That way you can do whatever you need to with the energy in hope of getting your girlfriend back.” She explained, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Huh. What's in it for you?” I asked.

“I worked for U.N.I.T. back when Colonel James Grandeswas in charge. I saw the pain that Madison went through and knew it wasn't right...”

“Why didn't you stop it then?” Amy hissed, coming to take a stand by me.

“You think I didn't?! I practically begged James everyday to stop but I couldn't do much more. I do have a family of mine which I need to be there for. When you turned up and James disappeared, I took charge and took over. I'm trying to make U.N.I.T. better, Doctor, just some of members still run about by the old rules.” Rachel sighed, looking disappointed at the words about her team.

“Alright. Fine. I'll be back tonight, but if I come back and find one member pointing a gun at me, I'll keep my promise from earlier. Deal?” I replied, sticking my hand out to her.

“Deal. Now throw me out the TARDIS.” She stated, after shaking my hand.

“I'm sorry?”

“U.N.I.T. think I came in here to stop you, not help you. You need to make it look like you've kicked me out from the TARDIS, so they think I put up a fight to make you stay.” She explained, rolling her eyes.

“Oh right. Good plan. Umm.... GET OUT MY TARDIS!” I yelled, pulling her over to the door.

“Good. See you later tonight.” She whispered, sending me a quick smile. “NO, DOCTOR! YOU ALL NEED TO STAY HERE WITH U.N.I.T!”

“HA, FAT CHANCE! GET OUT!” I shouted, pulling open the doors.

“NEVER! LEAVE OR ILL GET MY TEAM ON YOU, DOCTOR!”

“I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY! BYE BYE!” I screamed, throwing her out the TARDIS, before slamming the door and locking it.

“EURGH! YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS, DOCTOR!” I heard Rachel fake scream, as she banged her hands against the doors of the TARDIS.

“Wow. You were right. You are a good actor!” Amy muttered, as her and Rory looked on in shock.

“I learned from the best. Marilyn Monroe always was a good teacher. Thinking about it, she was a good wife too.... Anyway, best be off.” I ranted, before running over to the console controls.

“So, what? Are we actually going back there tonight?” Rory asked, as him and Amy slumped on onto the seats.

“We need to.”

“But what if it's a trap? That Rachel woman could be just lying.” Amy pointed out.

“I know she could be, but It's my only shot at finding Madison. I need to try.” I sighed, as I lent against the console and faced them.

“We understand. What do we need to do then?”

“Well, at the moment we're just floating around in space. We'll wait around until it's time to get there, then land. All I really need is a reading of that energy and then we can go. I'll just do a few scans of the readings and see if I can open up a new teleport to the Parallel Universe.” I explained, giving a quick smile.

“So right now, we do nothing?”

“Exactly that. Its going to be a long night, why don't you two go get some sleep?” I suggested.

“Are you not going to as well?”

“I need to do some planning. This is going to be risky tonight.”

“Why? U.N.I.T.... Well Rachel knows we are going to be there tonight. Is that th problem?” Amy asked.

“No, getting the teleport right is going to be risky. Because Amy, Rory. If I get this wrong, then I'll have lost her forever. I only have one shot at finding Madison and if something happens, they it would have been a waste. This is serious and it's going to be tough.” I explained, flashing a large smile.

“If it's going to be like that, why are you smiling?”

“Because, I'm going to get Madison back!”
