Stand Alone 

Refers to a single story that can be read and understood in full without having read any other prior story. Stand alones are complete in and unto themselves, have no sequels, and are not related to any other story by that author. Also called "Oneshots", especially when posted all at once. May be any length, from ficlet to novel.
