After another hour of a hike in the darkness, the two trolls made it safely to the bunker, were they could rest up for the time being. Branch put away all his supplies from the satchel and let poppy find a comfortable place to relax. It was too late to send her home, and branch wouldn't feel right if he simply let her go home alone at night. So he decided to let her stay with him, just for the night. Branch gestured with his hand towards the bedroom. "You can have my bed for the night poppy, I can sleep out here". It was.... like you tried to say something, but just couldn't". poppy could tell he was flustered about something, she just didn't know what. With a heavy sigh, branch walked closer to poppy. He knew there was no point in hiding it anymore. Even if she turned him away, at least she knew. So, he took her hand, pulled her close, and sat her down on the couch. She felt her face flush while looking at his soft smile. "Poppy, Listen, there's no real, easy way to say this. So I will just be honest". He paused, gathering his courage. "Every time I look at you, My heart feels light. Whenever I look into those big, beautiful eyes of yours, I feel like I could practically melt. You're the most kindhearted troll in all of the village and you always do everything you can for the good of everyone. You're sweetness has captivated me since we were children. But I didn't have the courage to tell you". Poppy felt her heart drop at this heartfelt speech. She could only sit with her cheeks flushed and her her eyes opened wide.

"I never knew what that sort of kindness was like until I met you. You always treated me with the same respect and sweetness as you did to every troll in the village. As well as sticking up for me when things got difficult. No one has ever done things like that for me before....". Sadly swaying his head the the side. "Every troll needs to know there are others out there that care about them, truly care about them. In this case branch, you have me. So please, don't feel so alone anymore. I'll always be here for you, should you ever need me". Branch sat there, amazed that the woman he loved, actually cared about him, as well as his well being. Was she really worried about him? She really cared? Her sweet, soft gaze proved that. To him, her heart was pure as gold. He could feel his heart pump and face flush over. It was time, even if she rejected him.

Extending his hand slowly, he softly cupped her face and caressed her cheek with his thumb. Entranced by her beautiful magenta eyes and soft smile. She actually liked the way he cupped her face. Branch's words have her breath on hold, barely escaping her lips. She sat there, completely frozen. Her heart continued to pump hard against her ribs, she felt as if her body was lighter than air. She then realized, that her heart was telling her the answer this whole time. ".....I.... love you too branch". Branch's eyes shot wide open with a slight smile, had he really hear these words? Was she really in love with him too? His heart jumped and danced in joy. The one troll who can make his heart pump uncontrollably, just returned his love.
